If there is such a thing as the personification of a national treasure, Sissel is Norways. After 4 decades as a professional singer she still delivers.
17.of May is the Norwegian constitution day. The " costumes" they are wearing are traditional bunads. And Sissel Kyrkjebø, the singer, is Norways National treasure. A huge international star 🇧🇻
This song was written as the Norway's official Olympic song, that was arranged at Lillehammer in 1994 and was performed by Sissel at the opening day of the olympics. ruclips.net/video/yuoM5FGoV0g/видео.html
Never heard this called a second national anthem. That title has always been attributed to "Nordmannen", also known as "Millom Bakkar Og Berg" ("Between Hills And Mountains").
This was sung during covid with all the social distance. She usually sings this to a large outdoor audience as she walks through the crowd they are all singing along. Thanks for reacting to Sissel, I hope you will check out more of her songs many sung in English.
Thanks for a great reaction :D Dutch and Norwegian are really similar. As a Norwegian who speaks German and English, I can basically understand everything in Dutch. Thanks for great commentary. You should travel to Oslo for May 17th this year, if you can. It's a celebration you'll never forget!
There are words that are so similar and then other words i have no clue what they could mean. Language is awesome! Oslo is definitely on my bucketlist. Dont think i can make it by this date, though. Thanks again for introducing me to this. I learned things i didnt know and that i am grateful for 🙏🏽❤️
It was a TV show called "Kåss til kvelds"that made this our song for keeping together during the pandemic. You can find their version with around 30 different artists on yt as well. And you are so right - for me, at least - the song is about caring for each other.
17th of May is our constitution day/national day.The costumes are Norwegian bunads, traditional clothes we wear on that day,and other special occasions.Sissel is not my fav.artist, but she is very loved here. The nature here is our biggest asset. The Dutch people who live here, learn the language really fast.
Norway have 3 national songs ;) Sissel Kyrkjebø - Se ilden lyse Drillo - Alt for Norge (fotball song from the 90s but used for many occations ) And off course the official national song «Ja vi elsker» Yes, Norwegian is a Germanic language. We have some similarities with German and Dutch. So we can also pick up words in your language:)
Yes, Scandinavia and north-Germany is the origin of germanic languages and Norwegians find it much easier to understand Dutch than German. There is a Dutch-Belgian TV-series called Red Light where there is a sentence spoken in perfect Oslo dialect, although it is Dutch. Every Norwegian would understand that sentence. I don't remember what the sentence was, but it was absolutely 100% perfect Norwegian.
Great reaction to one of Norway’s greatest artists👍 Sissel was the wordless vocalist on "Never An Absolution", "Rose", "Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave", "A Promise Kept", "A Life So Changed", "An Ocean of Memories" and "Hymn to the Sea" from Titanic❤️ Could you please react to her singing “Solveig’s song” from the coronation of King Harald and Queen Sonja in 1991 It’s from the beginning of her career😍 (she has long hair, in case you don’t find it)
That clothes they have, is called a Bunad, and is Norway`s national tradional clothes. And each city and region has their own Bunad. And Sissel Kyrkjebø, the woman who sings, has the Bunad from Bergen. The Bunad from Bergen comes in white like that in the video, and a dark blue, but with the same flower pattern. And the best way to see the nothern light is to visit the north of Norway at winter time.
@@SaeedReacts. You welcome. And the secret of the norwegian winter is layers. Have several layers with clothes. We even have some special underwear we have under the jeans and sweaters and have a good and warm jacket, something warm on your head and hands, a scarf and warm shoes. And if we shall stay outside for a long time when it is really cold, we use like those thick and warm skiing pants outside everything. :D
It is not in any way disrepectful to have opinions on Norway's anthem. Our children have an anthem of their own, the Children's Anthem and in it they sing «our tongues know a song among many to the glory of Norway». Until 2019, we did not have a national anthem because we have so many. Now we have chosen one to be the official, but this is one of our anthems and as a Norwegian, it is my favorite. Actually, our official anthem is 6th on my list.
Why not listen to the English version "Fire in your heart", Sissel together with Placido Domingo? You should listen to more from Sissel, by some considered as the best soprano in the world. Yes, Norwegian belongs to the germanic linguistic tree branch.
Sissel Kirkjebø!? Really!?? HAHA. Yeah it's like a national anthem I guess, but I'd never in a million years think I'd ever see a reaction to this song. This is a tres butched version btw. No guitar wanking please.
You have been fooled. This is not a song we think about. It has no standing in Norway. But Sissel has. So many simpletons reacting on your channel. Stay clear.
I might have been fooled, but i am not a fan of calling people simpletons. Even if it is wrong, respect can still be applied. Thanks for your comment and take care.
@@SaeedReacts.Well. Good on you. For being so kind. But, why, really? Most folks are lost, udannede. Simpleton is a kind, gentle verb. For all you know, I might be a simpleton too

Yes but singers die and songs don't. Very ancient principle in Norway.

Wow not often i see reaction to Sissel Kyrkjebø. Love this ❤ I'm Norwegian 🥰

We dont sing this song at the at 17 may. We sing the national anthem.

Sissel Kyrkjebøis not my national treasure and this is not even close to the national anthem :) Sorry 🤗
No need to apologize for that 😄
