Be careful with the Aubergine... I didn't realise until I grew them for the first time last year that they are quite spiky!
I had my usual evening "supper"... a pot of tea, two oranges and tonight I had some home made bread with margarine.
One of the best experiences of gardening is when you look away for a time and when you come back a flower has bloomed or a veggie is ready to pick... those "sneak up on you" moments... lovely stuff.
Ooooh... and the wildlife... seeing the ladybirds, butterflies or grasshoppers and any new ones that show up, that's fun.
The other big benefit to growing your own is the chance to try new produce. Best case scenario you find a new fruit or veggie you like... worst case scenario you grow more compost to help feed your crops for the next season :D
I managed to add a Jostaberry and a blueberry to my collection this year and they have just started showing signs of budding (we're having an "interesting" end to winter down here in Victoria Australia).
I almost want to go away for a week and see how it looks! But then I’d miss it too 😂🧡
If we grow with the expectations that we are never going to have failures then we will always be disappointed. If you garden with the expectation of enjoying the process and excitement of a great harvest then you will always be a winner. So you have had some awesome success and a wee few what I like to call learning curves so all in all I’d say it was an awesome season Emma. Have a fab week and look to the next season as it’s always a change, Ali ☔️☔️☔️🇨🇦
Excited for autumn crops and it’s a chance to sort out the awful soil too!! Thank you 🧡
Don’t judge how successful you were on this year. Even long term allotment gardeners have found it hard. You’ll be in a better position next year to decide what you want to grow and how much. There’s nothing better than fresh organic vegetables. I think you’ve done really well .
Yes I’ve definitely learnt a lot! And I keep meaning to ask the other guys on the plot for their advice too! The veg we have had has been delicious 🥬🧡
Best people on Earth to keep Safe storage Organic Seeds Healthy Soils to leave theirs Legacy Glory to Generation to come .
Wow amazing results, well done u two. Am fortunate I live just round the corner from my plot, I pop in everyday and I talk to my plants sort of speaking. The fresh air and getting away from the house work is good for my mind and soul. ❤
Oh lovely! I love walking around our back garden on my lunch breaks from work! 🧡
All looking good at your plot , take it as it comes . Melanie is looking good too . 🌼🌹🌸
Trying to!! Haha she’s thriving 🧡🧡🤞🏻
My sweetcorn was flattened 😢 been a challenge this year your dahlias are looking great ❤😊😊
Mine is just about clinging on but I don’t have much hope 😂🌻
Can I suggest you put some tall canes in alongside the sweetcorn. The dahlias are looking good.
I did prop up most of them! I’ll know for next year 🤞🏻 thank you! 🧡
Hi Emma love the video by the way you can eat baby boo s they great roasted whole then cut the top off scoop out seed and stuffed , to tell they are ready to harvest is when the ringlets that hang near them i have gone black , I am growing some this year can't wait to eat them , enjoy look forward to your next video, I think you are a lovely couple xx
Oh so you can! I wonder what I got confused with 😂 lovely will have to see how they taste!🧡
I got my allotment key two weeks ago, the plot is currently a tangle of tall grass and bindweed, so your vlogs are giving me hope that if I just keep digging it'll be worth it. My back garden is full of green tomatoes, so also hoping for a few more sunny days to ripen everything :)
I love this vlog. Also; serens garden. Also a first year allotment holder (as am i in the netherlands) she also had to battle bindweed and nettles. They are both lovely.
It’s so worth it!!! Even more so if you’ve battled through weeds to get there. Good luck! 🐸🧡
Hello from SA! Your allotment is stunning! For slugs, sprinkle crushed egg shells around your most vulnerable plants. They cant crawl over them.
I have added some shells around the plants but I think we have super slugs that get around them 😂😂
@@HouseOfTedYT oh that's such a pity. Goodluck I'm sure you will find a way to manage them.
Hello from California. Enjoy watching your videos. Thank you. Currently making raisins from my homegrown grapes. So fun. It's very fulfilling to harvest food you've grown yourself. I'm trying to harvest everything, because that is sometimes the most time consuming part of gardening.
Oh how fun!! Yes haha I didn’t realise ‘harvesting’ would be a job I have to allocate time to😂 happy gardening!
This also being my first year as an allotment holder in the netherlands, had to battle the same problems. But i'm glad it is this way around. If it was a super succes and next year a bad year, i would've wondered what i did wrong. Now i think; logic, it's my first year😅😂
Haha I like that thinking 😂🤞🏻
I know how you love to make cakes Emma so why don’t you make a courgette, lime and poppy seed cake, it’s delish! I’m with you on the growing smaller amounts and to grow what you actually like to eat. It’s hard work growing things if you’re not going to enjoy them.
In not sure Sam could be convinced to eat a courgette in a cake, maybe it would have to be a secret courgette cake 😂 🧡
