    Chris, I am glad to see your video again! I got my brompton clashed and my original rack was blent. I trired days to blent it back, but still it's blent. I am glad that I see this video, then I think: Why don't I just give myself a chance to a light-weight rack instead of the original one :) Just ordered one during black friday. I hope everything will be fine with the new rack, and I hope it is not the problem of the body frame.

    I have lately found an AceOffix rack, black of course, as my bike is a Black Version, Lightweight. And - years ago I changed my easywheel on the mudguard to a larger double wheel, which of course are without any purpose, if you use a rack! A Brompton rack is normally intended for use with easy wheels on it, either in- or outside.

    How did you fit the rear light reflector after you put in the h rack? I bought my to a bike shop to install the rack, but they couldn’t fit the rear reflector back. Also I still have the rear mudguard. Maybe I need to take off the rear mudguard to fit in the rear reflector?

      Sorry for the delay in answering.
      I had to check out on the Brompton to see how it was done.

    Is a rack necessary if one uses an extender and easy wheels, and replace the single small wheel that comes fitted on the fender with a double wheel fitting instead?

  • @graemeelliott4147

    For me, having Fenders is about protecting from mud and dirt, rather than water. I'm hoping I don't need a rear rack once my easy wheel extender arrives.

      Fenders are fantastic for commute riders. They protect our clothes.

      As living in Denmark, I don't like getting "The Brompton Stripe" up my back, when it rains, so I'm sure most bikes here are sold with mudguards. I have bought some titanium brackets for the mudguard struts (from titanium), to make it lighter. And also I have two, titanium racks for it, a short and a little longer version.

    Wan to remove the original rack. Do I just buy the V-Rack that you have and use the wheels from the old one? I might put on the telescope easy wheels (for your link).
    Also I have the DYNAMO version with lamps. Can I put the back lamp on the rack. Or where you put the reflector back (how many scruves do you have to the back reflex?

    • @ChrisbyBike
      @ChrisbyBike  3 года назад

      Hi The Office Cyclist
      To use the same wheels you have to check if the Screws are the same size. If they are, you can use the same wheels.
      The extension EasyWheel is a great help, it makes life much easier. Check to see if the one you buying is for your Brompton model.
      I couldn't tell about the dynamo. But if you are lucky to have a Brompton store near you (the nearest for me is 500km) or a good bike shop they can figure a way to fix your dynamo.
      But is better to check it up before buying the upgrades.

      @@ChrisbyBike With a dynamo it is possible to add a light in back also, with a wire for it. But In Denmark, for its mostly rather cold climate (If it wasn't for our local, warm "Golf Stream" in the ocean outside, we would be a Polar Country!), we at least have very long days during summer! I think for each 100 km You go North, the days become 10 minutes longer, till you reach the "Polar Circle", where at least one day is all day, once a year! On the bad side, they have all night during winter! ☹

    I have both a long and a - short version of, of course: Titanium Racks for my "Lightweight", with a titanium fork and back, sadly in the ordinary metal-versions and not in black, as the rest of my bike. And I have a set of also ordinary mudguards below it, as I don't like the notorious "Brompton Stripe" up my back, living in the much more rainy and cold Denmark. But I have just found and bought a "double holder", for my - now - titanium bolt on the stem, for both an Action Camera and a spedometer/navigator/phone, at the same time. I may also need a lamp to be able to avoid the Icebears, the many reindeers and wolves, roaming the Danish streets. After all "Santa Claus" comes from Denmark, and not from the fraudulent Finns. He has a Postbox on Danish Greenland, for the nicely behaved children to write to!

    • @finncarlbomholtsrensen1188
      @finncarlbomholtsrensen1188 3 года назад +1

      @@ChrisbyBike I think around 2 kilos, but the main weight is the frame, which is still made from steel. But my fork and the down svinging backframe is made from titanium, as also the struts for the mudguards!! And for some absolutely absurd reason, they have also "weight-saved" the small piece of wire, on the backframe, being able to hold the special "Brompton pump"! I don't think that Brompton is able to produce the titanium parts themselves, so they have to buy from an outside firm. On top of that I have changed my "crank" to a titanium one, with "ceramic balls", for an easier ride and I have also found some new "titanium cams" for the two outside cams, on my 6 speed hub in the back - and also for the front, with a different number of teeth, for an eventual higher speed on a flat road. I also have titanium cams for the "original gearing", as a safety! As I intend to bring it to Malta, in a very hilly area around our "Danish (owned) Village" in Mellieha (built on a former English Military Base area, after the Maltese Independence, and planned and made by a well known, Danish Architect, who also built the, still existing set for the Disney, "Popeye Movie" close by!), I have bought a 6 speed bike, to be able to crawl up the very narrow serpentine roads close by our "summerhouse area", by "The finest sand-beach" on Malta!!!
