I fully agree.....actress and character are perfectly identified .... for this Selena could have been performed only by Faye Dunaway, the one and only witch of Hollywood
According to a quote on her IMDB page, Faye really enjoyed this part. She wanted to play it a bit more comedically, but the director restrained her and wanted her to be more serious.
To me it wasn’t cheesy as you put it This was really amazing to me as kid watching it It suited the time it was made and at same time quite memorable What movies today will you look back on fondly and have a smile, chuckle etc Most of the movies they make now are dreadful Just few gems I remember the Thing, even with special effects I still rank it better than any modern movie with computer generated effects 80’s and 90’s was all class and sophisticated Actors with more talent in their little finger than today’s celebrities lol
It did not need to be explained. Anyone who watched this saw Supergirl getting her behind handed to her throughout the climax of the movie, basically being weakened. However, Kryptonite is the only thing that can kill Kryptonians which Selena knew nothing about. Because of that, Supergirl, who is superhuman defeated Selena who is a normal human. No plot armor here as Supergirl returns the powerful Omegahedron to Argo.
and shoutout to beefcake Hart Bochner for idly standing by without motivation. Make no mistake - Hart Bochner is a great actor as anybody who was so lucky to see Apartment Zero can attest to.
Face Off Until the Balrog from the first Lord of the Rings movie, and even then...this monster still holds up. Its too bad it doesn't really do anything more than lurk in the background, but its still pretty cool.
Selena should be blonde as the own Supergirl, not redhead because Faye Dunaway always was much more beautiful and sexiest blonde as she always was. Helen Slater and Brenda Vaccaro are also very beautiful talented, but Faye Dunaway is absolutely gorgeous and terrific, a real goddess and a marvelous star in all senses.
Faye Dunaway's best film to date. I just love her in this movie, her character Selena, and she looks incredible. To think she was 43 when she made Supergirl. She looks great! I still try to determine whether she was wearing a wig in this film, I don't know. But it's definitely the best film she's starred in.
however joking aside Dunaway also made up and dressed up as a witch is a very sexy MILF...WITH RED ULTRA WIG....she reminds me a lot of "the Bald and Beautiful"'s Sally Spectra in her look and makeup, and yet she was very sexy
It sucks for women in Hollywood - once you hit your 40’s, you don’t get the same fantastic roles any longer. She did a phenomenal job in “Barfly” - but after winning the Oscar in 1978… the 80’s didn’t give her great roles - and when she works with weak directors, she gives bad performances. Bad combination. But in the 70’s, I think she was the best actress there was.
@four eyed raven Selena is controlling Supergirl with the power of the Omegaheddron which is why Supergirl has no power against the floor and the gargoyle statue falling on her.
Silly script and cheesy dialogue aside, Helen Slater absolutely rocked as Supergirl, she really made her delivery feel so powerful to the point you didn't want to mess with her.
Selena roommate:i think I'll be going if you excuse me Selena glares and shots an invisible rope at her Selena roommate:ahhhhhh that's what i said I'm staying
So much better than WandaVision. The lighting, camera movement, character placement, practical effects and the fact that Faye and Helen are having a blast makes this worth it. The Marvel movies are so stock, and edited like a logical computer program. Pacing sucks, no style, recycled cgi effects...it's a boring mess. Supergirl 1984 is much better, and comes off as an actual superhero experience.
Proving you need an Oscar winner to really camp it up with the best. Jack Nicholson was a failure though. Now can we have a remake with Meryl Streep in the Selena Part , she is in the right stage of her career for that.
Just ... fly, Supergirl. You can fly. Just ... fly away from the wobbly floor bits, Supergirl ... no no, I said fly, not crawl, Supergirl. Why are you crawling on them? What are you doing? Just ... just fly, for God's sakes.
"YOU have no friends Selena. You treat everyone as if they were put on this earth to serve you". I can't believe that I didn't realise how camp this was when I watched it as a child.😂. Still a great movie though.
This is gonna sound weird but I honestly didn't know that was Faye Dunaway. I thought it kinda looked like her but I legit thought it was some slightly lesser known actress lol. She looks different in this film.
Helen Slater certainly looked and played the part, but the plot was more suited to a TV show; not a feature film. Weak plot, villain and too low stakes. It's a shame, because it could have led to sequels and a spin off show. Much like Superman had.
Good times, we all loved supergirl, 30 years later some idiot thought it was good to stop making fun films, instead they said, inject politics into good fun movies. Bad idea. Politics films, long may they continue, and keep them political, just stop polluting the fun of cinema, make films for joy and art. Keep the politics for the observer, let them judge.
The madness of RUclips comment sections on videos is that no matter how bad a film is, you can guarantee there will be a host of people proclaiming it to be completely brilliant and the best thing ever. This film was dreadful. But Helen Slater was fantastic, and it's a terrible shame that she wasn't given a script to match Superman 1 and 2. I'm a man, and this looks very much to me like a film written by men who think they know what girls want to watch and are utterly wrong.
It’s like watching, “Mommie Dearest”! 😂
I loved Brenda Vacarro in this. She was great comic relief.
Helen Slater delivers each line so well and gives the character this sense of incredible power "The Omegaheddron, Selena, I want it!"
Line still gives me chills.
Yeah, she sounds like a cop. lol
WHAT? You're kidding, right?
80s movies were so awesome!
Did Benioff + Weiss write this scene?
"Yeah we kind of forgot Supergirl could fly"
AnotherCupofTea omg roflmao!!!!! 😂😂😂
I thought she didn't have her powers or sum but then i remembered she used tmher freeze breath
Supergirl to Selena: I am NOT one of your FAAAAAAANS!!!!!
Power of shadow....Bring me the axe!
Ahhh 1980s special effects
Lovely
Mommie dearest with magic powers.
I was waiting for her to say "No wire hangers, ever!"
2:29 That wasn't Selena replying to Supergirl, that was pure Faye Dunaway; she's such a queen bee.
2:08 Brenda's scream 😂😂😂😂😂
"I"ll think I"ll be going now, if you"ll excuse me" 😂😂 She was brilliant!
Needs to be a ringtone
this is so cheesy but so fun and campy! and the actress playing kara did a good job with a silly script
Helen Slater
She did!
It's all so frustrating because I actually think there's a lot to work with in the script they just...really dropped the ball.
To me it wasn’t cheesy as you put it
This was really amazing to me as kid watching it

Super girl vs Mommie Dearest lol
Exactly my thought! The way that Faye plays Selena reminds me totally on her interpretation of Joan Crawford.
Supergirl would have been no match for a wire hanger.
When they were doing the flying scenes, Faye Dunaway apparently said "no wire stunts!"
...just kidding.
Faye's role as mommie dearest made her character Selena look like a nun!
@@yuljohnson5502 That's for damned sure
Puissance de la nuit , apparaît!
So that's where the Beast from "Krull" ended up.
IT IS TRUE SHE EATEN FAYE DUNAWAY
Faye is my dreamwoman.
Mine too 😍
i love the movie
In the comics magic makes Kal-El and Kara powerless or at least weakens them of course not explained here.
Ohhh
It did not need to be explained. Anyone who watched this saw Supergirl getting her behind handed to her throughout the climax of the movie, basically being weakened. They needed to have Selena as a season villain for Supergirl
They did. She was the main villain in season 3, though they did rewrite her character a little bit.
and shoutout to beefcake Hart Bochner for idly standing by without motivation. Make no mistake - Hart Bochner is a great actor as anybody who was so lucky to see Apartment Zero can attest to.
I do remember seeing Faye dunaway in the towering inferno along with Paul Newman
the demon in this movie is still one of the scariest things I've ever seen
Face Off
Until the Balrog from the first Lord of the Rings movie, and even then...this monster still holds up. Its too bad it doesn't really do anything more than lurk in the background, but its still pretty cool.
The scariest thing about the movie is Dunaway's hair
I didn’t even know this was made! This puts all modern action movies to shame.
That's for sure. Faye was incredible 😍

super WIG

I didn't even know it was her at first lol.
Agreed....she looks gorgeous still in this movie. Just watched "Bonnie and Clyde" again the other night and was reminded of what a beauty she was
Oh wow I didn’t know that yeah she really does look great.
This is the most terrible perfect hilarious thing I've ever seen.
Me gustaria volver a ver la pelicula completa en español.
De niña me encantaba
Sacaron una versión extendida
@@TylerDurden-id6yp ya la logre ver. Buena pelicula muchos recuerdos
I love Faye Dunaway in this movie.

Jonny McGovern's Schooling the Children brought me here 😂
Supergirl: You Have No Friends, Selena! You Treat Everyone As If They Were Put On This Earth To Serve You!
Um, fly when the floor collapses?
And the gargoyle statue couldn't harm her, no need to "look out".
Zodac Asar lol
@four eyed raven Selena is controlling Supergirl with the power of the Omegaheddron which is why Supergirl has no power against the floor and the gargoyle statue falling on her.
why do you struggle with the floor you can fly
I always wondered that too
Yeah it doesn't make her look too bright.
She's under the influence of magic. It's a weakness her and Kal-El share. It's in the comics.
To be fair, she hasn't had the training her cousin did, so she couldn't get her legs under her to take off.
@NOISEf7 Actually, Supergirl is being controlled by the magic of the Omegaheddron which is why she's struggling.
2:43
“I think I’ll be going if u excuse me” this film was so cheesy. Clearly just made to test the special effects. Still as a kid loved it
Silly script and cheesy dialogue aside, Helen Slater absolutely rocked as Supergirl, she really made her delivery feel so powerful to the point you didn't want to mess with her.
omg Peter Jackson ripped off Supergirl
If you’re referring to the Balrog...
I've so often wondered what it was like to kiss a 19 year old Helen Slater.
Double Toasted brought me here!😅🤣😂
Give it up, Selena! It’s over!
Pointing the obvious, Supergirl moves faster than she can wiggle.
Selena roommate:i think I'll be going if you excuse me
Selena glares and shots an invisible rope at her
Selena roommate:ahhhhhh that's what i said I'm staying

"Power of shadow: DESTROY HER!!!!" Fabulously dramatic evil queen scene!!
Wonder Woman 1984
Fun fact: Supergirl was only 18 years old when they began filming.
Her power is being taken away
Proving you need an Oscar winner to really camp it up with the best. Jack Nicholson was a failure though.
Now can we have a remake with Meryl Streep in the Selena Part , she is in the right stage of her career for that.
Selena costume is great I would like to dress as her for Halloween
I watched this only for Faye Dunaway.
Picture is crystal clear. Is this the new Blu ray release?
faye dunaway with the mop in the wind and the eyes out of their sockets... ahhh ahhhh ahhhhh
You’re a monster, Selena. And Supergirl’s gonna stop you.
Fortunately .. Imagine a world dominated by Selena with all the males reduced to slavery and destined to be boy-toys for her pleasure

SUPERGIRL 40TH ANNIVERSARY 1984-2024!
Just ... fly, Supergirl. You can fly. Just ... fly away from the wobbly floor bits, Supergirl ... no no, I said fly, not crawl, Supergirl. Why are you crawling on them? What are you doing? Just ... just fly, for God's sakes.
I thought her name was, "Athena"
Close enough.
Why is she on the ground when she can fly?
oh !😎
02:18 so pretty
The OmegaHedron Selena, I WANT IT. Omg.
the omegahedron was flourish by darkside
This movie could have been better
all could have been over in a second by using the heat vision
Give it to her, Supergirl! Give them what for! Give her the Supergirl Punch!
Supergirl vs Joan Crawford
this movie wad bad because of the poor script writing
Christina! No wire hangers!
Alguém do Brasil assistindo?
Made a meme of this and a music video production I managed. Jus now.
Ela não voa?😂😂😂😂
“You treat everyone as if they were put on this earth to serve you!” - Christina Crawford. I mean, Supergirl.
Girl you can fly
You can fly you can fly you can fly Supergirl!
"YOU have no friends Selena. You treat everyone as if they were put on this earth to serve you". I can't believe that I didn't realise how camp this was when I watched it as a child.😂. Still a great movie though.
2:28 Helen pretty much called Faye out on her real life behavior
Supergirl: You Had Your Fun Selena, The Game Is Finished!
This is gonna sound weird but I honestly didn't know that was Faye Dunaway. I thought it kinda looked like her but I legit thought it was some slightly lesser known actress lol. She looks different in this film.
SHE HAVE THE MAKE-UP AND WAKE-UP AS WICKED WITCH
Helen Slater certainly looked and played the part, but the plot was more suited to a TV show; not a feature film. Weak plot, villain and too low stakes. It's a shame, because it could have led to sequels and a spin off show. Much like Superman had.
Faye Dunaway was in some true classics in the 60s and 70s; but apparently she no longer believed in subtlety by the 1980s...
Ml
Goddamn it, Selena!!!!
Dunaway's hair could compete for the most ugly prize in film history and win
Joan Crawford, errr I mean Faye Dunaway was great as Selena.
I don’t know what happened to me why i liked this movie when I was a little kid
Good times, we all loved supergirl, 30 years later some idiot thought it was good to stop making fun films, instead they said, inject politics into good fun movies. Bad idea. Faye Dunaway has changed from a drama queen to a super villainess
SUPER GIRL VS BRUXA

@Super Spoock 900 That is, only if this movie was taking place in Metropolis where Lex Luthor is from.
This film is silly and pretty cheesy and Helen Slater is smoking hot!! Yowza!!
This movie sucks
What a giant stinking turd this movie was.
This movie gets a bad rep but it sure beats the crap out of Superman 3 and quest for peace.
