I can't believe it's almost Christmas. Where has the time gone? I hope you enjoy this festive video. I do some shopping and then do a little haul to show you some of the decorations I got this year, we bake the most amazing egg nog and candy cane sugar cookies, I recommend some Christmas/winter books to read as well as some of my favorite cozy festive Hallmark-esque films and there's a little last minute bookish/vintage/cottagecore/dark academia gift guide at the end of the video.

If you want an iconic Christmas movie set at the Plaza Hotel, I HIGHLY recommend Eloise at Christmastime. It's about a mischievous 6-year-old girl who lives there and gets into all sorts of adventures with the staff and other residents. So fun and hilarious!!!

Yes, reusable Christmas bags! My husband's family makes their own out of whatever Christmas material they find. When we got married they gave us a ton and I was super confused when we opened the package...my husband laughed out loud and said, "Welcome to the family, you will never have to wrap another Christmas present again." In addition to being super cute, it's way better for the environment than wrapping paper!
10:22 OMG PIZZELLE I'm from Italy! They're similar to waffles but thiner and crunchier and our grannies always made them during festivities (not only Christmas but also Easter and birthdays and weddings etc.). Fun fact: they've got a lot of names! Each region or city or town has a different name for them... Someone call them "neole", but they went also by the name of "ferratelle" and more! They're originally from Abruzzo (which is my region) and Molise. My grandmother always told me that in the past, when she was young, these special cookies were made specifically for weddings... Back in the days they didn't organize big parties for weddings, especially in the middle or lower social classes. They usually organize a humble buffet in their houses and everyone were invited and those who can afford it brought gifts for the groom and bride; who could not buy presents brought food, for examples "pizzelle" which were considered symbol of luck and welfare. These cookies have that design on their surface because it is inspired by laces that were usually used for wedding dresses!

Christmas has always been a hard time for me ever since I was a little girl,. It has just caused unnecessary drama, chaos, stress, guilt, all that fun divorced parents stuff. You are the first one to put me into the holiday spirit in nine years. I wanted to cry while watching this because it was just so beautiful and cozy and gentle and I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You've brought true love and appreciation for this season into my heart and I can't wait to celebrate now. This is amazing, and you know what? The idea of decorating for the season is the whole reason I don't decorate specifically for Christmas. Other than our tree, of course. But Christmas/Yule comes SO early in the Winter season. I think that's why so many people suffer from depression after Christmas. They don't give themselves anything else to look forward to! I LOVE Winter for all of it's wonderful majesty. Just go listen to Jonna Jinton talk about the singing ice! So many beautiful things.
You should read Myquillyn Smith's book Welcome Home. She talks about how we should decorate for the season not just the holiday. Applicable all year round. I love this book. 💕

"Meet Me in St. Louis" is another great holiday film (IMO) that takes place in 1903 right before the opening of a World's Fair. The costumes and scenery are to die for! It starts out in the summertime, then transitions into fall and Halloween, then ends at Christmas time (which is partly why it is a holiday film for me). The music is super fun and kitsch and Judy Garland is just amazing!
I literally watch that movie once a month. I never considered it a Christmas film lol
The "cake" in the package similar to the Panettone one that Desi called "Paluani" is a Pandoro, Paluani is the brand, Pandoro is a traditional italian Christmas sweet made from a dough similar to the panettone one but with more butter, no raisin inside and a lot of powdered sugar on the top, it's really good, try it out! :)

I would HIGHLY recommend another movie. Family Stone. It’s got the cozy, amazing cast, love story, and so much heart. I watch that and The Holiday every Christmas time.
When I get my home and I put up a shelf I'm going to put up a cardinal on my shelf for Mike. His mother liked cardinals. It will be a nice addition to our collection.
The reusable bags reminded me of when I was very young and I would receive a sack from the neighbor for Christmas filled with tiny toys or treats. It was always a burlap sack that was reused. The smell of burlap to this day always makes me think of Christmas
Serendipity is one of my favorite movies at Christmas time.

As a beautiful christmas/winter movie, I can totally recommend "One Special Night" from 1999 with James Garner and Juliette Andrews. A beautiful movie about loss, but also finding a new love and living a second spring - in winter. One of my favorite Christmas movies, I love watching it with my mother.

Another under rated Christmas movie is Christmas With The Kranks starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Tim Allen. O my gosh it’s hilarious and adorable and I never hear anyone talk about it.
I never would have thought to decorate the tree with baby's breath! It's so delicate and whimsical! Watching this is like flipping through a home magazine full of beautiful decor.

Hey, I'm from Germany. Niederegger Marzipan is the best Marzipan you can buy 😊 it's delicious and high quality. You can often feel the sugar in cheap Marzipan while eating, but not with Niederegger.

On the Hallmark Channel my favorite movies are The Card, Christmas Bride, Christmas Magic, A Crown for Christmas, A Princess for Christmas, A Very Merry Mix Up, Matchmaker Santa, A Timeless Christmas, Christmas at the Plaza, and The ChristmasTrain. Netflix or Lifetime had The Spirit of Christmas.
While you were sleeping is one of my most favourite Sandra Bullock films! Even though the Christmas period is now over, I still feel Christmassy...I'm not ready for spring yet!
I would totally recommend "Tessa and Weston: The Best Christmas Ever" by Abbie Emmons! It's a follow up to 100 Days of Sunlight, but I don't think it's too necessary to read the first (though I'd also recommend it!) it's so wholesome. I think you would like it!

I totally agree about the creams and almond beiges Desi, It is softer and has a calm feel to them unlike stark white. I bet the German Christmas markets are amazing! They really decorate for Christmas with all the lights , trees, wreaths and ornaments. I am really enjoying your videos. That ribbon candy brings back so many Christmas memories at my Grandma's house! And the Gingerbread stars look so delicious that I am going to have to go get some from my World market here. That movie was right up my alley and I could go on about it for days and days. It’s the perfect winter film, suspenseful, romantic, and full of action. Even though the romance was beautiful, I got to say, the bromance between the bandits/gang was phenomenal! I just adore their immediate friendship and closeness and love how they all stuck together.
