This album came at a very dark point in my life so it has a special place in my heart because it related to me on a deep level. This is such a dynamic album Abel really let us in to his story in so many different ways ❤️
You should really check out The Weeknd’s album called ”Starboy”. I think it really has elements which remind me of Michael Jackson and personally it’s my favorite album of his!
Save your tears is probably my fav song on the whole album, cool to see you appreciated it as much as i do haha. gonna check out those 80s songs you linked in another comment!
As other people have mentioned I really recommend Kiss Land. Also from other artists I'd recommend Song Machine by Gorillaz and Trench by Twenty one Pilots
I feel like this album isn't appreciated enough. Sure, the singles have done huge numbers and all that but like...at this point in his career the Weeknd didn't have to release something at THIS level of quality. Between the albums' concept and the character he played during the rollout, and then the genre fusing ethereal production....he's a true artist.
@@mercurialno6 at the success level he's at, he could pull a Drake and just give us the bare minimum. Ya know, surface level catchy pop songs with trendy production and people would eat it up. It just sounds like someone who still genuinely cares about their art
@@mercurialno6 It's less fashionable to put effort into concept albums nowadays with the top artists atm all avoiding them completely. I normally don't like to be this guy, but i feel like you would LOVE the midnight, specifically their album 'Endless Summer' it's modern 80s stuff to the MAX. As always, love the vids, thanks for putting in the work!
Awesome videos! I really like your new setup. I think you would really love 99.9% by KAYTRANADA. That album is pure ear candy. Keep up the great work!!
Hey Mercurial, I noticed in your last after hours video you mentioned james Blake. Have you heard his newest album? I think that would make for a good reaction.
@@mercurialno6 Hes a great English singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He can be experimental when he wants and explores new ideas for him constantly and that is something I really admire about him. His newest album is amazing in my opinion.
Ok but it is a crime for you to not go chronologically listen to all of his discography... Oh well youll do it for sure. One way to find about his musical influences is listening to his radio show Memento Mori on Apple music
You should really react to Song Machine Season One by Gorillaz. Especially the deluxe edition. Bonkers album, amazing production and features from loads of artists and genres
yes i literally thought about this today. I hear a lot of people saying they really like the Deluxe version. I really think the songs on the normal version are better tho
@@Daniel.............. I agree that trench is better, but blurryface is further out of his wheelhouse, also I was concerned with chronological order, in which case we may have to start with vessel.
What are your suggestions for Albums from the 80's that sound similar? I'm curious to check them out!
Interesting. I'll put some here:
I'll start with (70s not 80s)
Faith ruclips.net/video/ttpPIRnEFVE/видео.html
80s:
Blinding Lights ruclips.net/video/djV11Xbc914/видео.html

Savage - Tonight album (1984) if you like save your tears. also the single “the night” by valerie dore
I was so surprised when Save Your Tears was not a massive hit on release, it took nearly a year before it gained any real popularity.
If I said I only come here for the reaction I’d be lying. The humor and energy is unmatched.
Blinding Lights is one of the best pop songs of the 21st Century so far imo
This album came at a very dark point in my life so it has a special place in my heart because it related to me on a deep level. This is such a dynamic album Abel really let us in to his story in so many different ways ❤️
The way you talk about music brings me so much joy.
You’ve probably heard “Save Your Tears” somewhere. It’s a 3x platinum single so I wouldn’t doubt it!
TIMESTAMPS
(5:33) - Blinding Lights
(8:52) - In Your Eyes
(12:45) - Save Your Tears
Should honestly do Abel’s whole discography lol there’s so many I want to name but it will pretty much be everything he has 🤣
I'm already visualizing him freaking out over Love in the Sky on Kissland 🌚🔥
The transition from adaption to love in the sky… I can picture his reaction! Lol

I highly recommended watching the music videos for this album. They take the story to another level and elevate the album.
KISS LAND will blow his mind
Trust me , Kissland , you’re gonna love production wise and lyrically
As other people have mentioned I really recommend Kiss Land. Also from other artists I'd recommend Song Machine by Gorillaz and Trench by Twenty one Pilots
Trench has crazy production
Maybe we should do twenty one pilots in chronological order starting with vessel?
@@daishoryujin95 maybe...not

Another mention of vangelis, you will LOVE kissland, its heavily heavily inspired by the Blade Runner soundtrack

I second this! All of his albums are worth reacting to in my opinion... his first three are especially experimental and unique
You should check out harmony house by Dayglow if you like this 80s feel. In specific the song December. Some juicy sax on that one
Going brazy with the content 🔥❤️🩹
Let's gooo! Got my coffee and i am ready to jam.
Thank you, Sir o7
You’ll note that there are no features in this album. The Weeknd uses production as another voice letting it speak for him.
Didn’t Kenny g do the sax on in your eyes or did he just do the remix with abel
Thank you for being you
How nice. Thank you. :-)
So daggy but sweet. Kissland will blow his mind as will DawnFM.
