My FD has been on the blink for at least a year now, but I will make this for a dinner in the near future! Lookin' good, John. I like your perforated spoon - moon and stars! ;)
I hope you enjoy it, The best thing about making and not Fding is that you can serve the Barbacoa on the side with the rice. Let me tell you that Barbacoa is delicious!!! as is the rice.
My wife and I really love your show. We purchase the same bags as you and recently purchased the same heat sealer. Could you recommend a temp setting to get us a good seal?
John you have freeze dried a ton of food over the years. Where and how do you store it all? I have only been freeze drying since middle December and I have seven Lowe’s bins full. Love your videos and recipes!
I gave up on the bins long ago, they were too expensive for me. I use cardboard boxes. I get a nice sized box from the VA about every three months for some medical stuff. I just use them.
Congratulations John! You pronounced everything perfectly! That sure does look good. Ya know, we haven’t seen your freeze dryer since about a couple weeks after you got it, any chance you might do an update on it? Your mentioning the door seal got me thinking about the other channels that do make videos about the dryer. How about a close up view of the panel, you can show how it works. It’s probably a lot different from the newer models but an explanation of how you set it for 40 hours might be something, because the new models go so many hours to freeze dry whatever the product is (different lengths for different amounts of water content) and then an “extra dry time” added on the end. It seems to me from what I’ve seen of the 2017 model, you actually program the number of hours the whole process will take from the get go. You might need knowledge of the newer machines to be able to tell the difference, but a step by step portrayal of how yours works might be informative. The newer models for example no longer have the pillow cover, another channel has replaced the pillow with a plexiglass cover because he likes to see or record the progression.. but again the newer models don’t have a covering at all other than the door. Just a thought.
There are so many software versions that I really don't know. The way I do it is I have my dry time set at factory settings. When it enters "Final Dry" I bump it up. This can be done at any time during the final dry stage so you don't have to sit watching the machine waiting to do it.
I just automatically send all your recipes to my next thing to make queue. Another good one, thanks John
Awesome Video
Looks good i will have to try it!

I use it at about 120. If you look closely when you crimp it you will see the material "melt" along the edge, that is when I know it its sealed good
@@JohnInBibs thanks so much.

Love your videos John! I did a beef rump barbacoa in the pressure cooker in 35 minutes. It was delicious

I see you, John.
Have you tried freeze drying chipotle and sauce?
I have - do it in 2 T cubes. Works great!
Can you preset dry time to 40 hrs or do you bump it up mid way?

Looks good i will have to try it! Where do you get your Oxygen Absorbers?
