    Hi John. We love using our leftover corn bread to make corn meal mush with maple syrup. Yum. Thanks again as always.

    I made this tonight, and it was very yummy. I did add green chiles and minced garlic. My husband said that it would be also great with rice, instead of taters.

    YES on the cookbook, if you are able to devote the time. Former graphic designer and editor here and I know what a pain the publishing process can be. 🤪 Your recipes are delicious, much appreciated, and I have learned so much about freeze drying from your videos. Even if you never take on another cookbook, THANK YOU for all you have shared!!! 😋👍

    Never thought of freezing cheese and potatoes, you have me thinking. 🤨 Just curious, if you have done a pre-baked potato with all the fixings. Does it come back after adding water? Maybe like a twice baked potato. Lots of possibilities, BBQ baked potato, broccoli cheese baked potato etc. Love your channel.

    Have you ever tried freeze drying the casserole with the cornbread? I’m thinking the cornbread won’t freeze dry well,but it might be fun to try.

    I have your first book and would definitely get your second one if you decide to put another one out. The taco tot recipe looks awesome. Wondering if baking tots separately, then adding tots bags either first or on top of casserole when bagging them up, would help to keep tots from getting smooshed up quite so much. My list freeze drying list keeps getting longer, lol. Next to try will be red beans and rice. I would like to try FD my red beans and rice with some smoked sausage, but afraid it’s too much fat. Have you tried any casseroles with smoked sausage??

    • @JohnInBibs
      @JohnInBibs  4 месяца назад +1

      That may work one could only try. Thanks for supporting my channel with your purchase. I have not FD sausage yet, mainly because I don't really like them. But I may have to in the near future for one of my creole dishes.

    What number do you set the sealer at? I followed your link to one and shows Celsius not Fahrenheit.

    • @JohnInBibs
      @JohnInBibs  4 месяца назад

      for 7 mil bags i set it at about 120 but you have to play with yours depending on your bag thickness. Just set it and wait for the light to go out which means it is ready

    Is there a reason I can’t contemplate why the tots shouldn’t thaw before cooking them? You made it a point to put them back in the freezer before they thawed while cooking the ground beef. Do they fall apart once thawed?
    It’s too bad about rehydrating cornbread! The 3rd batch does look delicious. You said you baked the first two for 30 minutes, did you then add the cheese on top and just let it melt on, or did you bake it more? It didn’t seem clear on that.
    I’ve been looking at buying your books. I probably will buy the treat paperback from Amazon, to help increase your authorship the minuscule amount one purchase might do, but will definitely order the coil bound meal pouch from lulu. The difference in my opinion is free shipping from Amazon if enough is ordered or if you have a membership vs getting the coil bound which in my opinion will be easier to cook simultaneously with the RUclips video.
    If the first book covers 4 years, a second one should be another 4 years… unless you’ve made the same number of meals in the last 1 year as the previous 4. The books should have the same number of meals (or close to it).
    Since there wasn’t any noodles this time, what did you do with the 4th tray? Is that another video 🤔?
    You might need to mention in a future book that trays would have less weight on them for newer models. The new medium has 5 shelves, but the drum’s suggested weight restriction is the same number of pounds. Therefore while you’re dividing it up by about 2 1/2 pounds per tray, the newer Freeze Dry models support only 2 pounds per tray. 2 1/2 x4 =10 pounds on your model and 2 x5 =10 pounds on 8/2023 & newer models.
    Height of product is another consideration on the newer models. Your model has about an inch more clearance for each shelf than the newer models. All models say not to exceed the tray height, but people who bought the first models may have exceeded it with candy explosion.
    Someone in the comments suggested sausage. Depending how much you freeze dry… due to the fat content in sausages you might be looking at a major cleanup of the freeze dryer. Sausage does freeze dry, but it’s messy (just like strips of bacon)!!

      The directions for Tots say to cook from frozen. Yes I stated that I baked them for 30 minutes then pulled them out and topped them with cheese and returned until the cheese was melted. For my meals I almost always use three trays for the meal. The math works out good that way as I get ten meals from three trays. I always fill the fourth tray with either an experiment or lately the pie balls. I can't keep up with all the upgrades on the HR. I think it could come redundant and boring if I continuously went over the differences, though I do often mention that I have a 4 tray medium FD.
