I'm a complete beginner. Went there yesterday. Lovely drive over the rollercoaster hills. Nearly fell onto the beach, the rope saved my bacon. Made 2 birds nests. Couldn't cast in a straight line. Lost 2 sets of tackle on the ledge. Cracked my rod. Top half of the rod went swimming. Had to get out beyond my wellies to collect it. Think I got nibbles but wasn't sure if it was nibbles or seaweed. Caught no mackerel. Drove back wet and cold. And I LOVED every minute. Very valuable lessons learned for my future development. Thankyou for the inspirational videos.

Thankyou for the inspirational videos. Caught my first mackerel today. The first fish I have caught in my 50 odd years. I was delighted just to catch something. When I held it in my hand I was excited yet curiously convicted. I felt a sense of remorse when it put up such a fight to survive. It was too small. So it went back. If it had been bigger I would have definitely scoffed it for dinner.

@markmcmullen8600 your welcome Mark. As long as you had fun fishing mate, sometimes that’s all that matters. Just getting out on the shore or bank enjoying the outdoors. For someone who makes videos, most of the time it’s the fish that gives the video content but deep down I’m happy being outdoors whether I’m catching or not just enjoying the journey. Well done for returning the smaller specimens. Too many people take every mackerel they catch regardless of size. I see it all the time. Also, too many people don't immediately despatch their catch with a 'priest' leaving fish to suffocate in a poly bag. Shameful.

So I go to Greenock to the pier quite often but during the whole time I caught several mackerel and pollock. I want to come to your place. I have a question. I don’t see on the map where I can park my car in this place. I see small pockets all over the road, but I don’t know if it’s possible to leave a car in such a pocket. And another question. What time of day is the best time to catch mackerel? Thanks a lot.
