      @TheGhs1 I spent as a young teenager a million years ago fishing for mackerel on the river Clyde me and my pals would caught 50 each bag them then give the mackerel to all or neighbours .if you love fishing , Scotland is a remarkable country to do so, lochs fresh water sea lochs sea trout salmon cod pollack and the scenery watching osprey eagles ,otters amazing

      I would eat plain grilled or smoked mackerel any day of the week but It’s something a bit different and makes a wee change. Can’t beat it cooked fresh on the beach if you get the weather. Thanks again pal

      @@PiscatorUK-Fishing Dying to get out mate , had some really nice sea trout on the fly at end of May but unfortunately snapped my Achilles heel at start of June so will need to go buy some some mackerel and try that recipe bud 🤣👍

    Great video dougie I go away fishing and camping for days on end and have found freezing bottles of water and wrapping in tin foil is the best way to keep things fresh get 2/3 days out then in the shade

    Thanks for the tip on watering the wood chips, last year I used Apple wood there was a bitter taste think due to some wood around the edge turning into charcoal. I live over a hundred mile from the sea so only two days out this years no tight lines yet.

    Different class mate,nostalgia at its finest,my grandad used to take me to loch awe and used to cook up loch awe goulash as he called it,basically whatever tins he had it home in one pot,tasted amazing when yer by the water,yours is bit more refined dougie😂 I’ll deffo give that a go mate,great clip👌

    Mackerel in Anglesey have been a little sparse so far this summer. They seem to be arriving later and later, where April and May was busy years ago it seems mid August to September! That's global warming for ya!
    When I lived in Shetland it was almost year round!
    Gonna go try this weekend.
    We shall see!

    Well done for returning the smaller specimens. Too many people take every mackerel they catch regardless of size. I see it all the time. Also, too many people don't immediately despatch their catch with a 'priest' leaving fish to suffocate in a poly bag. Shameful.

    Hi looked the business, being a avid foody imo the larger fillets should be
    in the centre closest to the radiated heat source, maybe I m talking cods wallop,
    which is often the case!
    Great stuff in any case.

      Hi Bert, if the tin wasn’t enclosed then yes thicker fillets would be closer to the heat source. There’s a good build up of steam and heat with the lid on and Ive certainly not had an issue with undercooked fish, even for the 9 minutes. Thanks for taking the time to comment buddy👍

      @@Ewan-qv9ww Thanks Ewan, that’s a difficult question mate. It will be different all around the country. It’s not been a very good season for the mackerel this year due to the weather. In the west of Scotland they’re usually still hear in decent numbers until the end of October hopefully

    Hello. thanks for the new videos and tips. I apologize for my English. A few months ago you shared the address where you fish for mackerel, for which I am grateful. It's far from me.       @@ioandco. thanks your welcome my friend. Yes there is enough room to park your car there. You can catch mackerel anytime during the day but in my experience it’s less productive when the light starts to fade

      @@sunfisherbum the rod is quite old mate and I can’t find links for it. Any surf rod or lure rod will do 10-11ft casting weight up to 60gram. The reel is a 4000 Penn battle 2. For this type of fishing any sea reel 4-5000 size will do mate. I also use this setup for light- medium beach fishing for flatties

      @@olegarinicev9116 no problem mate, it’s 11ft Rovex captive casting weight 60gram. I’m not sure if they still make this model as It’s about 15yrs old. Any surf rod 10-12 ft will do the trick.

    do you use straight braid or a flurocarbon leader

      Hi there James, I use a fluorocarbon leader buddy about the length of my rod. Mono will probably be ok for this kind of fishing though. I’ve got fluoro on the reel as I use it for lure fishing also.

      @@napieraerialphotography6785 you might get the odd dog fish. Better off using a float with mackerel strip for sea trout especially where you live. Only need to cast out 30-50ft👌
