River Moy - Ridge pool 2024 - July 4th
Lots of fish in these pools now with the low water holding them back from climbing the weir. Several times I had fish swimming by my legs as they ascended. 3 seals in come in during the high tide. 1 stayed with me in the weir pool for a couple of hours. Almost foul hooked him a couple of times.
The ridge pool fished well over the 2 days. Lots showing and lots being hooked. The weir didnt seem to have as many holding and seemed to be more for running fish. I had a few pulls and lost 2 fish. Its a trickey place to fight and land a salmon especially when they decide to run down into the ridge pool. Next time Ill tighten up the drag and hold on tigher.

Where do you get a licence for this river ? Can you buy it online or is it as handy to go pick one up in a local shop ? Cheers

I've noticed myself over the years having travelled around places fishing in ireland, its not a bad idea to check into the nearest town to where you want to have some rod time and there's always a contact of some sort that will point you to a permit. Either a gun store or a fishing tackle store or maybe the local gardai will point you in the right direction. But they're usually handy to find and they have to be because they want your money at the end of the day.
