    You are very cool and funny, I'm glad you have found your path. Is it considered bad to do the chanting if you don't hold to very many Buddhist belief systems? Are you meant to chant out loud or can you do it in your head?

      No, it's not considered bad as far as I know. Buddhism is, in my experience, very pragmatic. I practiced for 7 years before I became a Buddhist per se, no worries. Chanting out loud is easier. Bit by bit that can change, I read once, from a source I've forgotten; "First you chant the mantra out loud, then you chant the mantra in your head, then you hear the mantra, then you become the mantra." In my experience that is accurate. Thank you for your comment :)
