I still have a quest 1 and it’s terrible because the games are more demanding and needs better hardware so it’s at like 20 fps so ima try to get a quest 3 for Christmas from my parents
YES. I've been thinking about buying a Quest 3 as a christmas present for myself but I was waiting for this video because I knew you would post a good and honest review about it. Thank you and keep making this amazing content.
Got one coming from psvr2 and quest 2 with a gaming PC. Quest 3 is siiiiick. But right now you have very very limited 3rd party options for battery straps that actually significantly boost the battery life.
First day of owning this, his video is spot on really. And my biggest and major complaint is just the battery I don’t feel like anything can compete as a con compared to the way the battery life does. I feel like it goes buy 1 percentage a minute for me but to be fair that was right out of the box and I have not broken it in yet either so
@@Bla_blah99 I've bought and returned two battery straps, meta's, and another one I got off Amazon. The game changer for me was the binbok VR T3. It's a comfy battery strap that comes with two huge magnetic hot swappable batteries and a charging dock. And it's the only one I've seen so far that actually charges it. Now I never even plug in my quest because I'm always just switching out the batteries to charge it when needed.
@@CcSmokecC I bought a Quest 3 and it's actually really badass. What I don't like is the Meta PC software. Virtual Desktop remains much better for PCVR overall. The Quest 3 hardware is damn good, but like everyone has said, it sucks down the battery when you're really using it. Having an extra battery pack is pretty much a must-have.
Best review I've seen. Finally someone pointing out that the content is inexistent and the hardware is flimsy. I'm getting so tired of big companies buying their way into positive reviews through supposedly independent influencers. Keep up the good work!
@@chan13153 He isn't salty? He paid full price with his own money, and his critiques are fair and realistic. While those who got the headset for free doesn't mention the issues GetHip informed us about.
Bought a Quest 2 for 150 bucks... Just to try VR and also mess around with Rookie Sideloader. Best decision ever, but down the line I will probably upgrade to the Quest 3!
I upgraded from a CV1 to the Quest 3 on a drunken whim and so far it's been absolutely worth it. Finally being free from the cables is the main factor for me, but the resolution bump is staggering. I know I'm a bit late to the party by skipping 3 generations of headsets and innovations but the differences are immediately obvious. I wish you had touched on PCVR in your video but AirLink has been flawless - Alyx is even more incredible now and 'classics' like Robo Recall and Lone Echo feel like new games. I've yet to try Virtual Desktop for a full 120hz experience but I'm holding out for an update for AirLink. The downsides: The battery life is indeed a shock but 2ish hours is acceptable for my use. As a minor complaint the colours aren't as accurate as the CV1's OLED but I think the increased resolution makes up for that. The quest UI needs a single shortcut to enable AirLink from the main menu too.
I bought the Quest 2 on a whim on release day, thinking i'd have fun with it for a month then sell it. Ended up using it 2 hours every day for the past 3 years.
I could not make wired Link at all over usb2 cable. Airlink is also garbage for me. Virtual Desktop is leaps better, with upscaling and oblivious resolution/refresh rate choice.
Finally the guy Ive been waiting for since August. Love the fact u are not one of Meta’s chosen muppets and dont hold back any opinions. U shit on it as well as praise it. I dont know what headset u use in your daily life, I come from Audiotechnica MX50 which is not bass heavy and Quest 3 sounds very much the same to me. Clear AF and I was personally positively surprised at the amount of bass coming out of those speakers. Hope u make more VR Quest 3 related videos.
I was also surprised with the audio quality but it sounds far better when you cup your ears, so some earmuffs would be great with this. Although it really doesn't compare to actual headphones like Koss, but it's actually doable without.
This guy’s personality and energy he brings is the best content, editing is excellent, speed of presentation is a.d.d. Proof. The point he brings up, there is no content, is the center of the biggest issue, far away in second place is battery. After this review, all budget from meta intended into the vr venture needs to immediately move to software production and support for quest 3. They need a large team and a 500,000,000 dollar budget to create one game and hype it to infinity but make it hit harder than half life alyx. The future is bright though because of the partnership Xbox with meta. Xbox is all in on their game membership. Let’s get starfield vr.
i LOVE the new controller without rings. Wish my Q2 had them, i sometimes hit the rings, im trying to not break them but i like putting my fake hands together lol.

No offense, but your content is pretty much unwatchable due to the extreme hectic editing. It may fit your voice and most people will most likely no care, but for me it's a hard time to watch and listen to.
I love the quest 3, the resolution and FOV improvements are solid and more apps will (hopefully) push the limits much further…that said battery life isn’t great and it’s just not comfortable for long periods. Hoping third party solutions can address this but for a $400-$500 headset it needs to be comfortable.
Excellent work as always. I would LOVE a 3rd party peripherals recommendation video for the Q3, tho. You spent lots of time telling us how crap the 1st party stuff is, but I'm worried about accidentally getting something even worse in the 3rd party wild-west.
Very interesting, I’ve been using VR since 2016 and I had not heard of this neck strain issue. Before I ever got VR I had some pretty bad neck injuries, and I feel like the additional exercise I’ve gotten from wearing a headset actually helped with my neck muscle strength and flexibility
I made a black square texture with a white border, and ran my VR app using that as the view scene for both eyes. I could barely make out the square border at the edges, couldn't see past the edges at all, and it was vertical/horizontal. I really don't understand why the internal screens are rotated 30 degrees to "help with field of view". The view is square. If you fit a horizontal/vertical square inside of another square tilted 30 degrees, you're wasting pixels that aren't even being used. I'd like to see how the 30 degree screens are actually being utilized.

i feel like a lot of these problems are sweeped under the rug with "just buy a third party option" which while a good point, feels like it shouldn't be a problem now that the headset is $500, the price increase should justify it being comfortable out of the box, and yet its not
Day 3 of asking for a oculus quest 3, love your vids and vr but am to broke to buy the quest 3 myself. ( I know this is never gone happen but I can try ).
I also had problems with the Guardian sliding or disappearing during game play. It is one of the main reasons I returned my quest 3 as it wasn't worth the risk of punching my fridge.
It's unusual for me because this is the exact opposite in my case. My Quest 2's guardian used to slide around while my Quest 3's doesn't even move a centimetre.
Got the Quest 3, the passthrough is mediocre, but definitely better than the Quest 2's. It's very light dependent, and even outside in daylight, it still looks grainy. The best features are the lens and the new chip. It's a very very noticeable change coming from Quest 2.
With the pro I could ALMOST ready text on my phone and monitors. If with quest 3 I can finally read my monitor or phone clearly that's all I care about. I remember playing half life Alex and having to take my head set off plenty of times to watch some walkthrough on some puzzles and it was annoying as hell putting it on and off on and off on and off. If I can just clearly see my monitors, read what's on their screen and my phone then I'm golden.
I’ve watched about 5-6 quest 3 reviews this last weekend. This is perhaps the best. Only missing a bit more on airlink. Right, I’m off to the shop to go buy one of these.
I am undecided whether to get a quest 2 or wait another year to be able to afford the quest 3, I have also heard about project ventura which is supposedly a cheaper headset coming out in 2024 so what is your thoughts on this?
12:58 would be exactly what you’re contemplating. As someone who owns both and loves both, the 3 is just better in every way and worth the extra money i feel. Battery life as a common issue imo is only a MR problem. I always used a battery bank for the 2 as i play for a while at a time anyway.
Good video. My first 512gb unit had a dead pixel and artifacting. The second unit so far has no dead pixels and I don't think I've seen artifacts yet. So it may be luck of the draw right now
Did you try doing a couple of different things, like being in mixed reality and watching videos / playing a small game, return, then (importantly) take a couple screenshots? Pretty sure the issue is softwaresided and should thus appear on every headset, and im also pretty sure it's linked to powerusing different features, and triggered by specific features. As far as im aware, taking screenshots / recording is one of them, but it's not guaranteed to happen, so that's not the full story either. But i can very easily trigger it with screenshots, while not seeing it for days or after long sessions, if i dont take screenshots.
@@thedoomslayer5863 Yes dead pixels are a hardware issue, but the artifacts are likely a software issue and it would surprise me if their unit couldnt produce them.
Thank you for not being a Meta affiliate. Seriously. Makes me trust your opinion more knowing that "Daddy Zuck" isn't paying you and possibly affecting your opinion.
Also, passthrough is really good. You only need the power of the sun in your room super bright fucking led that would normally burn your eyes out of your head.
so many amazing companies do quest 3 items already for near half or less than meta haha, Aubika is a great 3rd party company, AnnaPro, VR Cover and more coming out of the woodworks, Funny enough it was on Facebook I saw most of these companies advertised haha

You're spot on the lack of content. Meta has their updates to AR/XR coming sometime in Q1 of 2024 with V60. (Some say December 23). With that said, it was rushed out the door and they plan to fix it later.... We can only hope.
This is so funny as an sti owner and being interested in a quest 3, I mean I couuuulllld buy a quest three but if I do my car will for sure eat a rocker lol
Well, I finally got one. 4 years after buying my PSVR. My thoughts... I'm not impressed. I was expecting a huge improvement on the PSVR but apart from having a slightly better resolution, the PSVR (V1) is still better. I can wear the PSVR all night without feeling discomfort or having to wait 3 hours inbetween 1 and a half hour sessions while the quest recharges. I think we still have a while to wait for the perfect VR headset.
You gotta be a special kind of stupid to use the default strap SO MUCH that it causes injury, meanwhile there are $30 third party headstraps that aren't uncomfortable. Sadly the guy will probably sue, and win.
Loving the quest 3, and playing dungeons of eternity and other games. Having it and watching RUclips in the browser, and Hulu when I can get it to work, as well as other media content too has made me super excited for the Vision Pro though. This quality for media viewing like that is pretty nice as it is, so I believe the Vision Pro is going to be amazing for that use! I cant wait to remote play ps5 and xbox on it! Side loaded an app I have for ps5 remote play to the quest 3, and it works, but until I can disable the head control (I think thats coming in a soon update) I cant use it. Soon though!!!
I've had my quest 1 and 2 controllers drift right around the next quest comes out, so I won't be surprised if the quest 3 controllers start drifting right around the quest 4 gets announced.
mmm maybe a little read of the instructions might have helped you with the facegasket. the strap can actually be pretty comfortable if you dont wear it wrong. and that gpu issue was old software, its been fixed in most games, that was just like a day one issue. and like any other camera the passthru needs light alot
@@booshting3520 No if there's money to be made. Tencent has a lot of money, huge domestic market. Secondly, it's just rumours pretty much. Anecdotal at best. Thirdly, person said he wants PCVR, then it doeant matter either way.
every problem you have with the q2 is the same on q3, it's just a tracking update. memory is still lacking even games like Roblox will drop kick it snd you'll crash, even other games long enough will eat all the memory, it needs separate storage from memory, you shouldn't lose a quality headset because you bought a cheeper version and downloaded a buch of stuff, while fov is bigger you lose more fov on the bottom, if you have lens you most likely aren't playing as close as possible using face cover
I hope that now the quest 3 has been made and released, games like bloodtrail will get released to quest standalone easier without as many downgrades and games like b&sn will be able to look more like the pc version and support the maps like citidal on it and the higher corpse limit

i feel like a lot of these problems are sweeped under the rug with "just buy a third party option" which while a good point, feels like it shouldn't be a problem now that the headset is $500, the price increase should justify it being comfortable out of the box, and yet its not
@@rangerkayla8824 I fully agree, I guess they expect to make it uncomfortable and then sell more comfortable head straps and make money that wayv

The day has come.
Goodbye, oculus quest 2 🫡
I also had problems with the Guardian sliding or disappearing during game play. It is one of the main reasons I returned my quest 3 as it wasn't worth the risk of punching my fridge.
It's unusual for me because this is the exact opposite in my case. My Quest 2's guardian used to slide around while my Quest 3's doesn't even move a centimetre.

would y’all recommend getting a Quest 2 OR wait till the Quest 3 Lite comes out?
Mark Zuckerberg: we have new full colour pass through! Also us:it’s called “taking the f*cking headset off
respect the honest review. will be waiting to see what valve comes out with.
I’ve watched about 5-6 quest 3 reviews this last weekend. This is perhaps the best. Only missing a bit more on airlink. Right, I’m off to the shop to go buy one of these.
Did you get it? Airlink is trash and you should get VD anyway. I even got it on sale for like 14 or something.
I love mine, its fkn awesome, might want to wait for 3rd party accessories to catch up
I am undecided whether to get a quest 2 or wait another year to be able to afford the quest 3, I have also heard about project ventura which is supposedly a cheaper headset coming out in 2024 so what is your thoughts on this?
@@Yamyatosisn't dead pixels a hardware thing? People get it then send theirs back and buy a new one then suddenly it's "fixed"
Was waiting patiently and not making a decision before seeing your review. Thank you for all you do.
Even though you bought a venereal disease instead of an Evo, I subbed. We could of been best of friends... 😢
so many amazing companies do quest 3 items already for near half or less than meta haha, Aubika is a great 3rd party company, AnnaPro, VR Cover and more coming out of the woodworks, Funny enough it was on Facebook I saw most of these companies advertised haha

thabk god for a truthful review about the passthrough. i was about to buy this based on the marketing and fake positive reviews surrounding the passthrough. now that i know its not quite that clear, i wont be buying this. i just wanted to use 3 huge screens as a workflow when im editing
Yk the vids about to be serious when the youtuber is staring into your soul in the thumbnail
You're spot on the lack of content. Meta has their updates to AR/XR coming sometime in Q1 of 2024 with V60. (Some say December 23). With that said, it was rushed out the door and they plan to fix it later.... We can only hope.
I have a déjà vu when I saw the front nail
I was really expecting “wait until quest 4” 😂😂😂😂😂
im happy about the fixed plastic pieces mine broke very easily as i found out very quickly so i got a kiwi pro headstrap
I feel like I’m the only lucky person here as I don’t actually mind the quest 2 strap (except adjusting it)
You gotta be a special kind of stupid to use the default strap SO MUCH that it causes injury, meanwhile there are $30 third party headstraps that aren't uncomfortable. Sadly the guy will probably sue, and win.
I just realized that if someone makes a Face Raiders mixed reality game then that would single handedly make me buy one of these headsets
you mean face raiders? if so that is one of the greatest ideas i've heard in a long time
Love the whiplash background music
This is the most awesomest video I’ve seen all week 🤩 Not to mention a great quest review too! I’ll subscribe 🎉
What's the Vision Pro?
@@sugoish9461 the new apple headset coming out. Far more expensive, but looking to be far more impressive for media viewing.

all vr veterans who use to use the rift s like this comment
mmm maybe a little read of the instructions might have helped you with the facegasket. the strap can actually be pretty comfortable if you dont wear it wrong. and that gpu issue was old software, its been fixed in most games, that was just like a day one issue. and like any other camera the passthru needs light alot
My quest 2 is so old it still has a the oculus logo
what off brand head strap would you recommend?
So... reached the level of Pico 4 after 1+ year and for the much higher price... GJ!
Best review ever. 10/10 would watch again.
I feel you so much with this review...
Sticking with quest 2 I think, mixed reality isn't much use in my place space and I play mostly pcvr anyway
same with me
Worth upgrading for the lenses alone. PC VR on Q3 is so much better than Quest 2

@@buka9993 Going out of business soon
@@booshting3520 No if there's money to be made. Tencent has a lot of money, huge domestic market. Secondly, it's just rumours pretty much. Anecdotal at best. Thirdly, person said he wants PCVR, then it doeant matter either way.
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL
every problem you have with the q2 is the same on q3, it's just a tracking update. memory is still lacking even games like Roblox will drop kick it snd you'll crash, even other games long enough will eat all the memory, it needs separate storage from memory, you shouldn't lose a quality headset because you bought a cheeper version and downloaded a buch of stuff, while fov is bigger you lose more fov on the bottom, if you have lens you most likely aren't playing as close as possible using face cover
If I get the quest 3 im getting a adapter for my kiwi elite strap
I hope that now the quest 3 has been made and released, games like bloodtrail will get released to quest standalone easier without as many downgrades and games like b&sn will be able to look more like the pc version and support the maps like citidal on it and the higher corpse limit
