As a Brit who lived in Phoenix for a while, everyone’s weekend hike seemed like climbing to me. My perception of being in mortal peril on Camelback and Picacho Peak was put into perspective by local elderly couples, their toddler grandchildren and their dog passing me on their way back down.
I lived in southern arizona for over 20 years. Over ten thousand routes within an hour drive in any direction at all kinds of altitudes. It’s great and very little crowding

Mt. Lemmon has, literally, thousands of routes where you can climb all year.
