  • Hey RUclipsrs,
    New video out of my beloved ES-150 from 1938. I may own several great guitars but that one is just...my ideal. If I should keep just one it would be that one.
    Tune played is a old standard that discovered many years ago thanks to the great Chet Baker. Warmly recommended version!
    Recording chain : guitars - Mad Professor reverb - Polytone Mini Brute (1993) - Shure SM57 - DAW
    Strings: Thomastik Infeld flatwounds - Swing - 12-50.

    That’s Jazz! Freddy, that was beautiful. I mean really. Patient, in the pocket and perfection. My wife walked into the living room and said, “wow, that’s really nice”. The guitar sounds wonderful Fred. You are an outstanding player. And my buddy too!

      Thanks Joey. Your words mean so much to me. If I can think of someone with a gorgeous sound on his guitar, it's really you. Funny because I was speaking of you to my wife this week-end, saying I have a buddy in the US whose parents came also from Italy, just like me. Say hello for me to Ms. D. Best and take care my friend.

    Salut Fred,
    Keep swinging

    That Gibby & CC pickup have a beautiful tone, but you make them sing. I can understand why you feel this way about that beautiful ES-150, as you and it are an ideal combination.

      Thanks Mr Hayes. If clearance under strings is at least 9mm then you can ask Pete Biltoft to make a Charlie Christian Floater for you. Check Pete's work @vintage vibe guitr (www.vintagevibeguitars.com/). Best and take care.

    What are those 3 rivet-like things below the pickup?

    • @UncleDansVintageVinyl
      @UncleDansVintageVinyl Месяц назад

      Those are actually the mounting screws for the pickup.The pickup has a long piece that goes back parallel to the top of the guitar. The screws run down from the top to that long part of the pickup.

    Hi Fred! Curious about the Mad Professor reverb, please let me know your knob settings. Nice playing as always, good taste.

    Was the ES-150 derived from a previous Gibson acoustic archtop, or was it a new body design?

    • @FredArchtop
      @FredArchtop  2 года назад

      Hey Tele789. The ES-150 was based on the Gibson L-50, a full acoustic version.

    does this guitar have a thick neck? Ben always curious about 30's gibson necks!

      Hi David. Slim neck for that one. Very compfortable to play. My '36 L50 converted to ES-150 has a much more thick neck. Best.
