10/10 on the videos lately! Just the right amount of information, actual knowledge, cool guy shit, & those ever so classic moments of comedy.... love ya.. btw ur 8 over fork video was key in helping do my 6 over past few days... the tape trick to smack that seal down couldn't have worked better!
Thanks dude. I appreciate it. Shot a motovlog style vid today but trashed it cause I hated the quality. Also unsure if it’s my style or not. Glad you dig the vids and that they help!
I have a 97 Sportster. The entire engine was rebuilt from the bottom up. I let it sit for a while after I initally broke in the engine. When I checked the oil tank was empty, at first I thought that I burnt some oil during the break in period. After refilling the tank and starting it the exact same thing happened. OIL EXPLOSION!!!!
I just dealt with tbis on 2010 1200. The guy i got it from thought he was getting rid of bike that was shit. I drained oil and changed it then when i put new oil in it and ran it, the oil was brown i was thinking where the hell is nasty oil coming from. It had two extra qaurts in it. I just drained2 out and started running great. Does the gear oil and oil mix if it gets wet sumped?
Had the same problem with mine when I bought it, luckily still had a bit of oil in the tank so I only added one quart and it didn’t shoot oil everywhere. Now I understand why haha
#1 Clean Your Check, #2 Get An Inline Hose Barb Non-Return Valve To Splice Into Your Tank Return Line From The Scavenge Pump. ( make sure you get it in the right way, arrow towards the oil tank; and in the return line from your scavenge pump )
Interesting issue. Lucky me this past August (2022) I found a 2003 sportster for sale with 252 miles on the odometer! The seller got it from an estate sale for his girlfriend, but she didn't like it. Lucky me. The FA-18 mechanic seller showed me the oil dipstick saying the mark at the bottom of the oil dipstick was the oil level, so I maintained that level until my 1000 mile interval when I finally RTFM! Question is, how is the oil delivered from the oil tank and what happens when the oil gets below the low oil mark? And, yes, I finally Read The (entire) F#@$/×& Manual.
Oil pump delivers from tank to crank. You don’t wanna run out of oil. If your oil goes below the minimum line that means you’re burning oil or have a leak. Change your oil regularly.

SORRY FOR THE DELAY IN RESPONSE. I'M NOT REALLY ACTIVE ON HERE MUCH ANYMORE. NO. THEY ARE SEPARATE SYSTEMS.

It was a total mess. I’ll never do that again. Ha

Thanks for the info
I've had that happen to me when I had my 2012 heritage. Just about all the Harleys that have the oil tank just under the seat will do that over time.
i've always heard of sumping but never had the issue myself.
Great information Andy. Keep the cool videos coming brother. Ride safe my friend.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Ron!
Good stuff. Party on Andy. Dig the burger pop up logo!
Thanks man! We’re having a great time with it!
