Let’s look at Kiryu for a moment:
-A mecha made from the remains of a giant creature
-that is prone to going berserk with glowing red eyes
-And has limited power reserves
-Has a female pilot that finds purpose through piloting the mecha
-Is part of a program that is run by a man who is the father of a motherless child
-Has scene where all of Japan’s power is diverted to it
-And a scene where a female lead has to go through an exterior hatch to get deep inside the core
There’s more similarities to Neon Genesis Evangelion than you think Jobby
I didn't get the Evangelion references until nos, thanks man

The alternate yellow eyepiece is for when Kiryu is in manual mode, meaning that someone is controlling exactly what he does mean while it's kind of just an AI doing the work so, love your work!
The red eyes do happen when Kiryu goes berserk. Basically, Kiryu is Godzilla’s answer to an Eva.

Mines too, I especially love Kiryu's roar (which is WAY better than previous Mecha Gs from the past) and the story of his creation is amazing. The fact that there is literally a ghost within a mecha that was suppose to protect humanity makes me like Kiryu even more.

The *"titty cannon"* is actually known as the *"absolute zero cannon"* which was used by Kiryu in Godzilla against Mechagodzilla. It got replaced by the triple maser cannons in Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S. since the absolute zero cannon was damaged in the previous movie. In the comics, Jet Jaguar used Kiryu's absolute zero cannon to kill Destoroyah.

Kiryu is honestly my favorite design for Mechagodzilla. It reminds me a lot of Trypticon from Transformers G1. It actually looks like an upgraded version of classic Mechagodzilla.

The chest weapon is known as the Absolute Zero Cannon in GXMG and the Triple Hyper Maser Cannon in Tokyo SOS.
Awesome looking Kiryu. The chest blaster is known as the Absolute Zero Cannon, which was heavily damaged when it was used on Godzilla. It had to be replaced with the Triple Maser Cannon in Tokyo SOS.

Most Godzilla movies are set in their own timeline but share one important fact:
The original Godzilla movie (1954) still happened and the original Godzilla was killed by the Oxygen Destroyer.
So yeah, pretty much every time you watch a Japanese Godzilla movie, you are looking at the "second Godzilla". (though, arguably, there are so many different timelines that phrase doesn't really begin to describe it)
Technically there are 15 different incarnations of Godzilla, 7 of which are successors of the first Godzilla. (the others being from either non-Toho adaptions, the anime (don't go looking for that one, it's bad) and Shin Godzilla)

Explanation for minor differences in eye parts: the plain yellow eyes are his initial eyes. When he goes beserk the eyes turn red. After this he gets new DNA computers and (presumably) other modifications which leads to the yellow eyes with the vertical detail.
The red eyes is when hes possessed by the original Godzilla. Love your reviews

Not only are the red eyes show what happens when Kiryu is possessed by the spirit of the original Godzilla, but it also makes the red lines on his face look like tears of blood, and I know this because I saw the Wikizilla video for Kiryu. Also, at some point, the Absolute Zero Cannon is replaced with a Triple Hyper Maser Cannon according to Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.
I feel the theme of the Showa mechagodzilla fits the review way more then the theme of kiryu. Mostly because it fits Jobby’s comedic tone better in my personal opinion

I have kiryu, and it is possible to fake a spread on him. His legs work like the neca 2019, where the farther you push his legs back, the farther the legs get. Your gonna want to bend the knee and move his feet up so he doesn’t look like he’s leaning back tho. Works perfectly on mine!

A fiew infos about the character
The tiddy blaster is called the absolute zero canon where kyriu charges that beam and then freazes the target from the inside so it practicly becomes ice as shown in some scenes in the movie
The blades at the arm canons should be retractable and have an electric charge
The red eyes show that kyriu is possesed by the godzilla wich skeleton is under all the whires and armor and stands agains the pilot of the mech
The canon in its mouth are called mazor canons wich were specificly designed for kaiju creatures
The backpack can be fired at the enemy via the thrusters and with the backpack kyriu is quiet athletic as seen in teh movie and can even throw arround godzilla with ease wich weights 25000 tons in that movie
