I know it's still bones and spirits but man... When Godzilla's spirit took over, it was like if Godzilla was a cybernetically augmented giant radioactive lizard with lasers, swords, a jetpack that shoots missiles, etc. But you take away the scientists BOOM! You got a random-ass giant skeleton. It's still bones and spirit but it's encased inside a giant iron man suit with the memory of the king of the monsters. Now please stop saying it's 'bones' because that's what it was before, and it is literally equipped with a giant robot suit built around the frame of the skeleton.

So Kiryu is actually the conciousness of the original Godzilla inside a massive weapon of destruction. So basically, Kiryu is Godzilla with a gun. Hard to beat that.
It's actually the original 1954 Godzilla's entire skeleton used inside Kiryu, with his consciousness stored within his DNA which is used to run Kiryu's complex computer systems. =)

The Q&A for this episode confirmed that Akane survived her crash and Tommy ejected from the Dragonzord before the Absolute Zero blast hit, they just weren’t shown due to lack of budget. This doesn’t make the death of Jason David Frank any less tragic, however.

My favorite part of the animation is that Kiryu did not go on instantly after Akane went down. Godzilla's spirit only took control AFTER the Dragonzord's roar, just like in the movies where it goes berserk when hearing another Godzilla

Love how dragon Zord lumbers around like it’s being piloted, and so does Kiryu in the beginning, but as soon as Godzilla took over on his own, his movement became faster and way more natural feeling.

@@justaweebwithsubjectivetas9019 "Natural" as in the second round where Kiryu is taken over by Godzilla, it's fast-paced, not giving Dragon Zord a chance to counter, Kiryu starts biting and clawing, going as far as tanking a blow just to keep Dragon Zord from moving and even headbutt to the chest. That not something a pilot would do unless it's a tight spot. Compared to the first round Kiryu had to use his rocket boosters on its legs just to stay ahead of Dragon Zord when dodging.
Another comparison is the fighting pattern, if you look closely at the second round, Kiryu went wild there's no sign of calculated attacks just straight-up brute force. Where on the first round it's opposite, as soon as Kiryu and the pilot lost close quarters they went to long-range.

When akana yashiro was piloting kiryu I wouldn’t say her attacks were fully calculated but or less rehearsed seeing that she is part of the Japanese military and in the fight akana uses similar tactics that were shown in movie and secondly you forget she controls kiryu by using a consul well still piloting a aircraft also she was probably trying to plan the long game and when she saw the dragonzord was down she probably”he’s down and it probably can time some time probably the same amount time it takes to charge up the aboslute zero, It’s a gamble but it’s one I’m worth taking”
And when the OG Godzilla takes over I do agree that’s it’s animalistic seeing that each attack shown had great weight and speed but he also used similar tactics that was in the movies seeing that kiryu grabbed and Tossed dragonzord tail like he did with Godzilla and also kiryu did not head butted the dragonzord and the few times kiryu did get hit there was reasons for it,the first time was when he got punched by DZ fighting mode seeing that the OG Godzilla is still an animal he probably”so what you got bigger and look different, your just a bigger target for me to kill” too bad that upgrade gave him a power letting him to get a clean punch that disoriented kiryu enough that his chest almost touched the ground that’s where it leads to his second hit where fighting mode landed another clean hit right as kiryu was get up and the third and finale hit was fighting mode’s finishing attack where the hit was landed when kiryu landed after he Dodges fighting mode previous attack

Yeah, despite the whole "scientific breakdown" given the past fights they've had the Rangers in, it kind of seems like they have some unspoken rule that if Power Rangers is in one of their battles they aren't allowed to win.

I like how when Akane is fighting in the first half she uses range attacks and is very tactical but when it's Godzilla fighting he's a brawler and isn't afraid of diving in head first into the fight

For power rangers in death battle it goes like this. If the opponent doesn't explode they lose.
Pretty much, 0-3.
to be honest that's because outside of what power rangers fight they kinda suck in power scaling to most other stuff and pitting them against something Japanese which does most ridiculous stuff is not good match.

Donovan Kendall the power rangers aren’t American but its for Americans, it’s storytelling is from a Japanese dude and the voice acting is all English (basically a half-in-half kinda deal) and then they sometimes dub it to Japan for their entertainment

@@corruptedeevee5574 partially yes but lets face it the power rangers never fought anything like Godzilla and even if Kiryu's power levels only give him 2 hours operation time consider that's two hours of fighting something made to kill Godzilla and yeah Kiryu doesn't need some kid's show combining gimmick to get the job done... at some point the Rangers had to have questioned
"you know what we don't really use our zords individually that much. Why don't we just deploy the assembled Megazord right out the gate? or just build a singular megazord?"
Transforming megazords make far more sense though considering a big machine like that would need effective transport who not make it so that it can transport and deploy itself effectively.
Point is Dragonzord had no chance.

Technically, the jet itself is like a giant R.C. controller for Akane to control MechaGodzilla. While the jet was destroyed, that doesn't exactly mean Akane is dead along with it. It's probabaly possible that she survived the crash. Also, if you use a normal R.C. controler for a car, if the controller is destroyed, does that mean the user dies with it? No.

Kiryu is basically 1954 Goji except the rest of his body is mech except for his bones.
Something tells me Kiryu's spirit aka the original Godzilla took his time and enjoyed this fight like he could've finished it the moment he was in control, but he wanted to feel something to remember the old days and took a few hits deliberately.
This is by far in my top 5 favorite episodes. Sure, it has bonus points because my 3rd favorite Godzilla character won, but the animation was good, the analysis was fun (especially learning about Dragonzord), and Kiryu literally PULLING HIMSELF CLOSER TO KILL DRAGONZORD! This is amazing!
