    Say what you want, but you can't deny that the people who made this movie seemed to have a huge love for movies. It might look silly, but when you see _how_ this movie was made, I'd say this is real dedication.

    This film is always a good laugh material for Turkish people. But now thinking about it, George Lucas got laughed at when trying to publish Star Wars. He was faced with many difficulties as well and forced to use somewhat different and unique techniques to overcome them. Even though the cheap solutions and stolen content of Dunyayi Kurtaran Adam, I like how the story of these two films are alike.

      After watching this video I can't help to think that the movie might be crap and that they were really quite brazen to steal all that footage, but that the crew behind this movie had a lot of love for movies and lots and lots of dedication.

    Thank you for getting out this information on the production of the movie, I had never before heard that the reason they stole Star Wars footage was because their own starship sets were destroyed, this changes everything and makes the production far less shady then it actually was. (I mean, it's still stolen footage, but at least they tried first!) One thing however, you state that the movie made money, but everything else I've seen, including an interview with Cunyet Arkin says that the production bankrupted the studio, as it didn't come close to making enough money. In his own words they "saved the world but lost the producer."

    • @NeonHarbor
      @NeonHarbor  3 года назад +5

    It may well be my cynicism spilling through but i would actually prefer movies like these over the bloated cgi fest that is a majority of modern movies, granted, this movie stole alot of footage and used unlicensed music, but at the same time i find this movie charming, simply because its honest, and helped by a simple storyline and enduring characters. I dont know about independent movie makers but you can bet there aint gonna be movies like these anymore.

      I seriously can't believe Cuneyt Arkin, thr man who has quite good performances and really good work in his career agreed for this film.
      Seriously, the man who had Alin Yazisi on his belt shouldn't have agreed to this.
      He had a lot of ridicilous action movies. But they were intentionally comical and weren't really serious.
      Besides, Arkin performed all his own stunts, considering he jumps from a running horse to aother horse, manages to do acrobatics on horseback, does flicks and all, they were still somewhat respectable.
      But this movie is just ridicilous, even for that era of turkish cinema

    And thank you for making a serious video on this subject.
    It is a shame we don't have any photos of that set.
    And it is a shame that we don't have an extended edition and some director's cut and another version with alternate ending.
    But really, that would be great to see uncut version.

    Is this the same Neon Harbor that I read about somewhere that is trying to clean up the original movie to HD quality on Bluray after finding the original prints? That would be awesome.
    Also, there are two variations of this movie, they have two different translations for each. One is a more proper English translation and easier to read while the other is a much more literal translation, making the movie a bit more difficult to understand. They also have two different opening title/cast text crawls which differ by nearly 50 seconds.
    I've been compiling a huge list of Star Wars rip-offs, inspirations, homages (etc) and I have so far found both versions of this one movie :D

    • @NeonHarbor
      @NeonHarbor  6 лет назад +2

      Same Neon Harbor!
      Yep; two versions. The more common one is the "studio archive" version. It's been cut down a little (possibly censorship) and has some weird errors - pieces of a scene stuck oddly at the end, and a long stretch where the audio is very out of sync. This version was probably transferred to Betacam many years after it was originally released.
      The other version is from the Çekelez Video release. It is much more complete, and the color is better. Probably because the transfer was done shortly after the film was made. However, as it's from VHS/Betamax, the fidelity is lower.

    • @cujoedaman
      @cujoedaman 6 лет назад

      That's cool, I hope the restoration project is going well. A restored version would be a very awesome addition to my collection :D
      I did notice the colors were a bit better than the other, I made note of that when I was making up a blurb on IMDB about it last year. I would like to think that if it the changes were due to censorship that there is a certain irony because of the copyright violations of footage and soundtracks that were lifted in order to make it in the first place. Not quite the same thing, but an interesting parallel.
