I did a video of myself playing this very solo on my sax 🎷! I would love to hear what you think about it. It’s on my channel
I will now.
Thanks dude, So far I think I’m the only one that does this. I’m about to get deep into Jimi Hendrix’s music!’
The really scary thing is that any guitar player would give most anything to have one night of being able to play like SRV... For Stevie, it was just another Saturday night. Every day, all day, anytime, the man could do this at will. He is so missed.
I've watched this performance literally a hundred times, and it still gives me the chills.
There are good guitar players, there are gifted players, there are Prodigies, there are LEGENDS, then there is SRV, The GOAT! Rest in Peace, Stevie.
Let me tell you, I’m a Texan and I’ve cooked a lot of briskets over the years staying up all night listening to SRV.. Beer, a hot pit and some SRV is all you need!!
You got me at brisket
I live in Gruene, where are you?
When the Master is performing, the only thing you can do is listen
Notice in his intro he leans forward toward his microphone to start singing, then leans back to melt your face again. The man was on fire that night.Legendary performance at El Macambo which is a legendary bar in canada for bands to do a warm up show before tour starting with rolling stones. This whole show was phenomenal.Strongly advise people to buy this DVD performance.
RIP Stevie Ray 🤘
When Eddie V says, Stevie could be one of the best of all time, if not the best.......I believe it.
*That vibrato though. SRV, The GOAT, The King of 13 gauge six string blues.*
The GOAT PERIOD. His bass and drum are the smoke!
You're right, brother. There was something special about this concert at El mocambo
truly amazing. thanks for reaction
Peak level musician
I just don't known how anyone today, can touch this!
This is a great choice for his showmanship because this performance is transcendental - we take a journey in this performance. By the way, he cut his teeth in the Austin scene where there were dozens of wanna-be guitar-gods working on showmanship as much as playing techniques. There are still guys who do backflips, and hopefully more younger players who realize showmanship CAN be a useful craft for their 'sales'.
"Heros get remembered. But legends never die". 🎸🎶
I saw Stevie Ray live 1986 memories for a lifetime love the reaction check out Testerfy the first song at this concert.
You can't really play the blues unless you've suffered, Stevie Ray grew up with plenty of it. RIP now beautiful child of God.
HEY MAN IM A TEXAN , GOOD TO SEE YOU LOVE STEVIE I SURE MISS HIM , GREAT JOB BROTHER. FROM TEXAS BYE ! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you my brother!
this was truly magical indeed, thanks for the video my brother! Peace
Happy Memorial Day 2021, SRV GUITAR GOD
In my opinion Stevie is the best there is they beat there was and the beat there will ever be .
Jimi Hendrix my friend...Jimi Hendrix.
@@827dusty Jimi will always be the number one.
@@hesch-tag nope...Jimi didn’t come close to the chops SRV had...he was extremely innovative, and inspired so many great guitarists, but if you play yourself, you know nobody can eff with Stevie.
@@mr.smithgnrsmith7808 Yes he had great chops and yes he inspired a lot of players but innovative? Not at all. Jimi had plenty of chops but he didn't feel the need to play fast all the time. Jimi was the innovator and the far better songwriter and improvisor. SRV was more consistent, I'll give you that.
There is no best. We all have our favorites, but so many have mastered the instrument in their own styles with their own unique vocabularies. Guys like Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, Frank Gambale, Allan Holdsworth, Jeff Beck, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and so many more each blow doors on guitar without need to place themselves within any farcical hierarchy. Their backgrounds and experiences have set them apart in their own realms. Each could probably play things the others couldn't wrap their heads around, but it's about appreciation, creation and style. Enjoy them all.
Really enjoyed your reaction, your respect for the artist - not filling the video up with vain talk and pauses. Very cool, Thanks -
Life without you live 1985 at the Capitol theater great live stevie.
His guitar playing is powerful & overwhelming. Saying that I think his singing is underrated. I enjoy his vocals but his playing hides this gift.
I often think if Stevie was still with us music today would be SO much different. He is still someone new musicians should be studying and taking cues from.
Blues would have been even bigger than it was
He did put on a show every night.
His bends and vibrato would be incredible using light gauge strings but using 13 gauge like he did should not be possible with our current understanding of physics. I've played guitar for years and my fingers start to hurt just watching Stevie Ray
My favorite SRV!
Angus was known to have been a SRV fan, remember Angus started out as a Blues guitarist
THE GOAT, RIP SRV. Subbed!
When I lived in Toronto I would often go to the El Mocambo. They seem to grab some amazing bands just before they took off into the stratosphere. The Rolling Stones even did a surprise concert there in 1977. It wasn't a huge venue - seating about 450 - so it was much more intimate than stadiums, etc. Basically it was a bar with great music and beer. I very much regret not making it to see Stevie Ray there :-( Suggestion: "Look at Little Sister" with SRV and a Toronto boy, Jeff Healey. Note that Jeff is blind but can still shred a guitar with the best.
My favorite SRV video is him with Johnnie Copeland doing "Tin Pan Alley" Gotta check it out!!!!
I Will brother!
Bro, same here. Tin Pan Ally is the greatest smooth blues jam ever and SRV & Copeland play off each other so well. Two legends
I don't even have to see your reaction to this version. This is a CLINIC on how to play blues guitar. I have the DVD and have been a fan of his for decades....
Ah, well done, Bravo!!! New subscriber here, looking forward to more videos by SRV & Others... Just a suggestion if you don't mind Bro...Would love to see a reaction to
SRV ~ 'Voodoo Child'/Live from Austin, "One Night in Texas". I think it is his best version of the song! Thank You!
Of course!
Stevie had a deeply intimate relationship with his guitar. His first wife left him because he loved that ‘59 Stratocaster more than he loved her. He spent far more time with his Strat than he did with his wife. Stevie was the kind of player that was in love with the idea of playing music. He used to eat, sleep and breath playing.
I think that it's a 50s body, maybe a 59. But the neck is a 60s, I've heard a 63. It is rosewood, so not 50s. And his first wife gave him a guitar that he used on Lenny, which was also what he named the guitar.
This guy must've been listening to some acdc in his headphones, cuz he wasn't moving to the same song i was listening to!!🤣🤣🤣
Stevie did 7 grams of Cocaine and a qt of whiskey a day for yrs. Got clean in 88 but died in a helicopter crash in 90. RIP Stevie ❤.
Good job 👏
Steve, Eric, Santana and Jimi💯💯💯💯
Nobody like SRV...saw him at taste of Chicago.. don’t know when exactly. Late 70s ....early 80s
Nice reaction, sir...you don’t interrupt the artist..
SRV was a great guitar player beyond measure and I love that he was a humble and kind person. He never thought of himself as anything compared to his heroes like B.B. King or Buddy Guy. There is a great interview with Chris & Tommy on RUclips and the stories they tell are amazing. Loved the reaction! Here's the link to interview. ruclips.net/video/lGJSiQTBao8/видео.html.
If you ha ent checked it out yet check out live without you or Ain’t gonna give up on love both at the Capital Theater.
Congratulations on a really nice channel!
The production values are through the roof, and I like the way you handle yourself.
Subscribed. 😎👍
Well, if you wanna hear some different ish...you heard Chris Stapleton right?? “Sometimes I Cry”, “I Was Wrong”, “Tennessee Whiskey”...the live performances...”Barely Alive” one of my favorites...Tyler Childers “Whitehouse Road”, little wing by SRV one of my favorites!! That and when he played with BB at the Blues Over Sunrise gig...love hearing all the legends...btw AC/DC killed it back in the day too...loved them and Metallica
Not sure who said it, but stevie taught the devil how to bend those cables
You have to do the little wing (same concert) then right after do third stone from the sun to be truly amazed
Both are from the same consert*
Few Mold don’t dismiss Paul Gilbert. A true master of the instrument. You may not dig his style, but he is a virtuoso. Nobody has ever moved me like Stevie Ray though. He is the greatest ever
When Jorge Masvidal retires, he can follow in your footsteps, just with a more Miami vibe.
Thanks, acdc - yeah, it's been said that Stevie didn't play the guitar - the Guitar played Stevie! BTW, I saw ACDC in the "old days" with Bon Scott - back then, I enjoyed them, but in later years, I became pretty bored with the repetitive stuff.. my opinion only, of course - everyone likes what they like -
I think it wuz his brudder Jimmy who sed, "He doesn't play a song the same way once, let alone twice!" He straps on the Axe n just channels every guitar that's ever been played through his fingers. . . I got to see him live three times n it wasn't enuf!
When Stevie gets done playing his guitar the guitar needs a cigarette...
Iwas just listening to music and had a thought? Why are guys like S R V and E V H better players that everybody else? And it occurred to myself that the inability to read music is the answer. The reason? When u can read the music that's how you learn to play it and you can definitely become a master that way Jimmy P for example maybe 1 of the greatest players all time. BUT and this is a big BUTT lol. So in my opinion when you learn to play from feel it might take a bit longer to get there but the end result is just better. And what I mean by that is along the journey to learn any song you are playing from inside and every mistake along that journey is actually a learning experience and in saying that when we hear the end result this here is what you get absolutely incredible playing second to nobody. This kind of playing is impossible to get from a sheet of music so I think I get it and it's amazing.
Maybe I’m 100th subscriber...
De honde eres? Soy Jose de San Jose California mucho gusto.
i love stevie , i really do, makes you go wow,and you think who could follow that, then you put jimi on and you go thats who, go on ,try it. i dont know who is the best in the world and all that crap, every one has a different opinion on that, some would say eddie but for me it will always be 1 jimi hendrix 2 bill harkleroad 3 roy buchanon
try SRV and Santana ....Coal Train
Stevie Ray's idol was the great Jimi Hendrix, who started the behind the back, and playing with his teeth stuff back in 1967. Stevie Ray is such a Hendrix fan, that he wore the hats, and scarves that Jimi did in his day. He also plays all of Hendrix' music catalogue, including Little Wing, Voo-Doo Child. and many more. I love Stevie, but even Stevie admitted, "Jimi was the first to do all of the stuff I do." Who's better? It's really not important, as they were both Superstars. There is something to say about being the first one to do something, or things. In this case, Jimi was the first, and he shocked the world with his guitar playing prowess. No one ever saw or heard anyone play the guitar like Jimi Hendrix. One more thing, Jimi learned as a 9 year old Seattle kid, to play a cheap Sears guitar his daddy gave him, but Jimi was a left hander. No worries, 9 year old Jimi learned to play the guitar upside down. That meant he had to learn to play all of the chords upside down and backwards . Talk about a handicap. Although Fender offered to make him special left handed Stratocasters for free, Jimi declined the offer saying," I've played it this way for so long, I don't know if I could go back to playing the correct way." Amazing. If you look at the video of Hendrix at different concerts and Rock Festivals, you can see his guitar is upside down. It's just unreal he could play that way at all, let alone be one of the best, if not the best ever. Even Stevie Ray Vaughn couldn't do that. Throw in the great Rory Gallagher, and you my top 3 of all time.
That is so crazy that his guitar was upside down I always thought it was a lefty, that was great thank you
tl;dr Jimi don't come close to SRV
You can tell your a guitarist....you make guitar faces🤣😂
He's the GOAT blues guitar player for a reason. Sure, there are other greats, like Gary Moore, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, etc, but there's only one Stevie. here's a great gay Moore tune I'm sure you'll appreciate (RIP Gary) ruclips.net/video/4O_YMLDvvnw/видео.html&pp=ygUjZ2FyeSBtb29yZSBzdGlsbCBnb3QgdGhlIGJsdWVzIGxpdmU%3D
Angus who?
I love me some Angus Young, but SRV is a better guitarist
Stevie Ray is the GOAT, that is for sure. I got to meet Stevie one time back in 1978. Another friend of mine went to school with Jimmy Vaughan in South Oak Cliff, a area south of the Trinity and west of 35 in the southern part of Dallas. My friend and I both had wholesale nursery supply companies. I was out with him on a Saturday when he said that he needed to go see a friend of his. He took me to the Vaughan's house . We went into the garage to talk with Jimmy and in the garage there was Stevie practicing on his guitar. We hung around all afternoon talking and listening to Stevie play. Now this was before Stevie was known by anyone. It was great fun and awesome watching Stevie working out licks and playing songs and Jimmy got up with him and they did about 6 songs together. It was an unbelievable day and one I will never forget.
Now that being said, I would like to introduce you to two other rock and blues guitarists who go back to the 1960's that no one is showing on their reaction channels that just breaks my heart. They do not receive the recognition they deserve. These two gentlemen are masters of their instruments. I have trying to get someone, and I am hoping that's you, to put their music up on their channel. I think you just might be the one to do it. I have put these suggestions up to the channels Alex & Andy, Weboo Reacts, India Reacts, Jamal aka Jamel, Modern Renaissance Man, No Life Shaq, Lost In Vegas, King KTF, Mr Video, etc,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but have gotten anyone to do them. I am on fixed income and can't afford to pay these people to try and get them to accept my suggestions on this and react to them. Believe me they are very well known and you will get views if you do them. They will blow you away with their talent and their bad ass guitar playing. Forget bangers these songs are H-Bombers.
The first guitarist that I am talking about is WALTER TROUT. He is among the world's most formidable blues guitarists. His high-profile stints with Canned Heat and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in the 1980s resulted from a decade of backing blues and R&B performers including Joe Tex, Percy Mayfield, Big Mama Thornton, Lowell Fulsom, and John Lee Hooker.
Walter then went out on his own and has created and produced 27 albums under his name. I am goint to give you a link here for the song I would like to see as his introduction to the reaction world. It is an old Freddie King's song called 'Dust My Broom' that he is performing live at the Paradiso Theater in Amsterdam. Here is the link to the RUclips video:
ruclips.net/video/Ztf_VBhcL7c/видео.html .
The second guitarist I am talking about is FRANK MARINO. He was born in Canada in 1954. He began playing guitar at the age of 13 after having played drums for three years. Very soon after changing instruments, Marino had formed his band Mahogany Rush. By 1971, three years later, the group had developed quite a following. At the age of 17, his first album, MAXOOM, was released and the group quickly started generating a larger and larger following and more albums. In all, by the year 2001, Marino had released 11 albums with Mahogany Rush. He also did two solo albums, 1986's Full Circle, and From the Hip, which came out in 1991. Adding to his credits are also appearances on recordings by April Wine and Brian Lee. He is one of the greatest Guitarists around.
The song I would like to see as his introduction to the reaction world is his rendition of Chuck Berry's 'Johnny Be Good'. It is A live version from the Midnight Special. Here is the link to the RUclips video,:
ruclips.net/video/zw_MEs0xOAg/видео.html
This link is to another version of the same song, live from Bromont in Canada. The video quality is low but the audio is still good. It is double the length of the first video and Frank really goes off on his guitar and demonstrates his talent. It's a great track and an awesome display of guitar mastery. Here is the link to the RUclips video:
ruclips.net/video/kZzhQXG7OfY/видео.html
Here is something to think about. If you do these you will be the FIRST & NUMBER ONE person to react to them and everyone will be chasing you as the leader on these two guitarist. You know how everyone does the same artists and songs when a new good reaction video comes out by one of y'all. Just saying. You will not be disappointed.
