Stevie is from Texas. "Texas blues is a feeling. It is something you can't go and read out of a book, it's something you grow up with." SRV Everybody says watch Texas Flood from his 1983 El Mocambo show in Toronto when they were on tour to promote their first record, Texas Flood. I agree. 💯 don't miss it. Great reaction!
He was AMAZING! He switched guitars because he broke a string. The guy who was playing while he switched guitars is his brother Jimmy Vaughan who is also a great guitarist. Love them both!
What Dana said. ⬆️ Stevie played monster gauge strings (.013) and he would break them often. His guitar tech would always have 3 or 4 axes ready to go, just in case.
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 THE goat of all goats Do yourselves a HUGE favor: **Texas Flood at El Macambo** **Life Without You at Capitol Theater ** **Voodoo Child at Starwood Theater in Nashville** **Tightrope at Austin City Limits 1989** You're welcome. 😉
Great reaction guys👏🙌‼️. Watching this insanely talented artist perform is way better than "listening" to him. He is the most passionate and committed guitar player I've ever seen. Self taught from age 7 by listening to records by all the blues greats and eating, sleeping, and playing guitar. This was from one of the 1989 Presidential Inaugural Balls for Bush Sr. Since Stevie was a Dallas born Texan he, of course, was the finale headliner. Stevie never played the same song the same way as the music just flowed out of him and he just let it take him away. Fortunately he took us with him. He popped a string seconds after he put the guitar behind his back which is why he switched guitars. For an absolutely incredible seamless guitar switch check out "Look At Little Sister" from Austin City Limits 1989. Your jaws will drop all over again. Keep SRV coming and his fans will find you🎶🎸💯. A lot of us search daily for new reactions to him which is how I found you today.
He often broke strings from his bending and he was playing for a while, you missed it, with one string broken so he had to adjust his playing until they brought another guitar so this is beyond a virtuoso performance..
Miss him so much. SRV is The Greatest. I recommend y’all hear some of his “radio singles” as many do not react: Crossfire Cold Shot Couldn’t Stand the Weather Pride and Joy I was blessed to know him and he was the kindest, most humbled person. SRV is from Texas. The most Emotional video you’ll see is “Life without You”…written for his late guitar tech.
SRV = 🎸 🐐 ! Stevie Ray must be consumed in concert video the really appreciate the man ability to entertain . This song at Elmacombo to me is better. Also "life without you " capitol theater NJ 1985 and " Tin pan alley " with guest Johnny Copland is another masterpiece.
This one is the way he played it when one of the old legends was standing at the side of the stage. The Elmo was a place to really let the electricity go.
I read that when he was a kid learning to play guitar, he was so obsessed and committed, that he would play till his fingers blistered and peeled, then glue the skin back down so he could keep playing.
A lot of the guitar riffs in Texas Flood is based off of another singer and the Blues musician named Albert King who played a Flying V left-handed except with strings strung upside down. Albert King has a lot of good songs like why are you so mean to me or his most popular born Under a Bad Sign or I Love Lucy.
SRV didn't play the song the same twice, even if he played 2 shows same day. SRV started playing guitar 🎸 after watching his brother Jimmy. In video Life Without You he changed guitar because he didn't like the sound or couldn't tune it to his standard. Also in video Look Little Sister he breaks a string and changed guitar without missing a beat.
Srv will always be the goat! Please watch "life without you " at the capital theater, Mary had a little lamb", " couldn't stand the weather " to name a few.
Wanna see smoother guitar switches? Check out “Life Without You” from Capital Theater, (watch the beginning closely, noting the color of the guitar, or you’ll miss it) and “Look at Little Sister” from Austin 1989. Bam!
It’s nice to see a different performance than usual for this song. However, the the typical one and his best is Texas Flood at El Macambo. It’s just the three guys and possibly Stevie’s best live performance ever recorded on video. He is simply channeling from somewhere. If you watch several of his videos you’ll start to notice that when he breaks a string, he’ll look off stage to his guitar tech briefly. Then in about 10 sec he’ll switch guitars mid song without missing a note. That’s what happened here. Since his brother was playing too he just waited until he was reset then started playing again behind his back where he was before.
He switched because he broke a string on the first one. He had big, very strong hands and bent those strings with power. He broke strings all the time. His Guitar tech was always at the ready for a speedy guitar change.
As Eric Clapton said; people seeing him play for the first time make them want to take up guitar and those of us that have played with him, make us want to QUIT! Eric Clapton, SRV was the real deal The GOAT!
Yep. He broke a 13 gauge string. He was so pumped for this gig. That is BB King playing rhythm. BB King never played rhythm guitar for anyone. So much love and respect. I tried playing 13 gauge strings and couldn't bend them at all. SRV broke those strings all the time. BB King played 6 to 8 gauge strings.
Was blessed to see SRV live many times . . . There is NO quesion he was the BEST that has ever been! As if God and Stevie were simply repeating what was already written! (PS: A few little facts: He passed in 1990, was given an F in Music, and his "Number 1 SRV" guitar was a hand-me-down)
Y’all chose the WRONG video to showcase SRV’s genius skills on the guitar. The right one was SRV live at the MOCAMBO. You should show that version because SRV goes absolutely nuts on the guitar. Check it out.
I went to high school with Steve in Dallas texas no he broke a string so he changed guitars he used the thickest strings they made ,,my friend SRV rip kimball high knight !!!!
It was a Helicopter Crash in 1990. When my brother died. ❤❤❤❤ The better one is El Macambo Texas Flood version is better. Check out live at the Festival 3rd Stone from the Sun. Want your mind Blown? This is the Song that will do it. Ya'll been Warned. ❤❤❤❤ I'm Stevie's Little Ray's Little Sister Kiya Lynn. Howdie Ya'll. We are from Oak Cliff Texas South of Dallas. ❤❤❤❤
Definitely need to check out the performance of Texas flood from live at the El Mocambo

What's amazing is he used the heaviest Guage strings and still broke them routinely!
Missed y’all‼️ SRV was the GOAT!
R.I.P. 💔♥️
He often broke strings from his bending and he was playing for a while, you missed it, with one string broken so he had to adjust his playing until they brought another guitar so this is beyond a virtuoso performance..

You really need to see this song played at El Mocambo
This one is the way he played it when one of the old legends was standing at the side of the stage. The Elmo was a place to really let the electricity go.
EVERY live performance by SRV is stunning! Live is the way to go!
I read that when he was a kid learning to play guitar, he was so obsessed and committed, that he would play till his fingers blistered and peeled, then glue the skin back down so he could keep playing.
The GOAT...PERIOD! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Texas Flood Live at the el Mocambo is just as good if not better!!
The other guitar player is older brother Jimmy Vaughan .
Live at El Macambo version or nothing. trust.
Guitar switch = broke string. Btw, the guy in the metallic jacket playing the backup guitar is his older brother Jimmie Vaughan.
We are from Oak Cliff Texas. South of Dallas. I'm Stevie's Little Sister. Kiya Lynn Vaughan.

You guys need to react to 60’s 70’s 80’s music. Especially if you want more followers. 😉
As Eric Clapton said; people seeing him play for the first time make them want to take up guitar and those of us that have played with him, make us want to QUIT! Eric Clapton, SRV was the real deal The GOAT!

react to jeff Healy "see the light"!!!!!.....He's blind, also plays with SRV in "look at little sister"

Now do his songs "Life without you" & "tin pin alley with jonny Copeland (both live version) you'll love them.
Btw he has some songs with BB King too
Texas Flood at the El Mocambo, gotta see that one.
you should watch the video for Tin Pan Alley live
Y’all chose the WRONG video to showcase SRV’s genius skills on the guitar. The right one was SRV live at the MOCAMBO. You should show that version because SRV goes absolutely nuts on the guitar. Check it out.
Oh no.....should have been at El mocambo. Unbelievable!!
🎸💙SRV💙🎸
Voodoo Chile next!
Ya'll should see the one from El Macambo. It''s even better. ❤❤
This is ok but the El Macombo is better
From President George W. Bush’s Inauguration. His whole set should be reacted to! Big brother Jimmie is in the gold jacket.
Brother Jimmy had his back when he broke a string, that's why he switched guitars.
SRV was the man! Still is.
The best blues man of our time, watch ...life without you, all his songs are interesting and have their own take away
you did the wrong one :/ watch the live at el mocambo version....there's a reason it has 13M views ;)
There is no wrong one when it comes to SRV. But they absolutely should catch "Texas Flood" he did at the El Mocambo.
You picked the wrong one! 🤨 El Mocombo was the good one!
No it wasn't a Movie Scene. He did that all the time.
I went to high school with Steve in Dallas texas no he broke a string so he changed guitars he used the thickest strings they made ,,my friend SRV rip kimball high knight !!!!
Did.you.no.that.stevie.ray.vaughan.s
Brother.play.s.in.the.bsnd.the.cadillac.s
As.the.lead.player.like.stevie.ray.vaughan
It doesn't get better than SRV.
Stevie was notorious for breaking strings and changing guitars during live performances.
He switched guitars because he broke a string
I’ve heard guitarist say that they use facial expressions otherwise they want to dance and that interferes with the guitar playing.
He broke a string, hence the guitar change
He probably broke a string, that's caused the switch.
It was a Helicopter Crash in 1990. When my brother died. ❤❤❤❤ The better one is El Macambo Texas Flood version is better. Check out live at the Festival 3rd Stone from the Sun. Want your mind Blown? He broke a string guys. That is why he swapped guitars mid song.
Wait till they find out who the Grateful Dead are.
nah he broke a string so he switched...great reaction tho
So it is not like he is doing that on porpose
Wrong live version. Chek out Stevie Ray Vaughan live at El Mocombo Texas Flood.
The reason why he switched guitars was because he broke a string.
Live at the El Macambo was so much better than this version
This isn’t even the best version of this song! Check out Austin City limits! That version is smoke!
Stevie Ray could not read music. He was the best. Another blues guitarist is Joe Bonamassa. Joe is still alive
Check out Jeff Healey he can play just as good and he was blind RIP to both gone to soon they even played together some
This is not the best live version you could’ve reacted to.
No, he switched guitars because he broke a string on the first guitar.
