Thanks for this vid. I've watched loads of junk journal vids and yours is the first to make it seem simple. As someone on a very limited budget and who can't go anywhere because of the pandemic, limited supplies, i like the fact that you use whatever you have to hand.

I am a newbie, have not yet attempted a journal and this is absolutely one of the best and least intimidating beginners tutorial that I’ve seen so far! Thank you! I have been binge watching your videos, while working on my “Day Job” which is making t shirt quilts, I am so inspired, just need to get through graduation quilts and stand by, I WANT TO MAKE A JOURNAL! Thank you, Gayle!

My mojo has been on a trampoline for the last few weeks, I get a great idea and just can't seem to follow through. So, I have come back to this video so that I can do something from beginning to end and it has been fantastic... I made a whole journal that I can decorate as and when I want. I went away from tea/coffee stained papers a few months back but still had a stash of un-used stained paper and have now managed to use that up. Everything was getting "too precious", and this has taken me back to basics. Love my wee little journal and will find it very useful without the weird "I can't use that, it's too good" thought coming in. Not that it's not good - it's one of my best in months. It's a "no strings" journal - except I did bind it with string. So, thank you, not just for beginners!

One of my neighbors gave me a beautiful little 3×4 journal that she found at a craft stand, and thought of me ❤ She knows I make cards, and thought I could maybe do something with it. Using what you've got...Yes, me, too. My sons took my shipping container house through the framing and insulation stage. Then, because they have their own work, family and church activities, I told them I could do the rest--which means woodwork, putting up walls and coverings/paint, flooring,. And, if you watch the movie Yentyl and take note of the wood/glass pane divider between, as I recall, their library and kitchen--I've been yearning for something like that since 1995. So, I got a very old door from Habitat Restore and built me one. There's not a man on this earth who would claim my handiwork as his own, but, it's my little house. Because containers are empty boxes--and nothing has its home--I got to design and build closets, shelves... The two most labor-intensive rooms, kitchen and bath, are pretty much finished. I call my kitchen my Command Center.
You've certainly got your Command Center! A person could lust over all the materials, supplies and, so fascinating, the gadgets, esp. that cute little girl's purse that also embosses. I've just got to have one! Say...I could make a junk journal using my scraps, like my office wallpaper which is, actually a large scrap from a previous house. When I'm no longer in my house, the little journal will stay with it--a commemorative journal. I've already glued little hearts inside the walls :- )
It's lovely to watch you work, how you put things together, set them aside, and return to them at later dates to incorporate into the larger picture. I do the same with my house: I work on this for a while, take a breather, work on something else for a while and then return to the first project to work some more....all while using what I've got. When I get to the end of my building materials, I'm going to take up junk journals--they do look like such fun. And, this is a marvelous tutorial to get us going...get our mojo inspired.
Hope your hubby got over his cough and you're both doing well. And, thanks so much for the warm welcome.

Watching this video really made me smile as I started making Junk Journals back in the summer this year and they were all paper bag journals pretty much exactly like this! Paper bags and coffee dyed papers and just plain and simple!! Then I found your channel and from here I discovered the Junk Journal Junkies groups and I progressed from there 😊
Also, I'm so glad you showed how to do the corner flip pocket, I use them in almost every journal I make now as they're so fun and practical too but now I know who to credit for them. I have always mentioned you and your channel whenever I show them in my videos as the first time I saw them was here on your channel but I didn't know that Rita did them, I always thought they were one of Patricia Veramontes! **whoops!** xx

Thank you for the great tutorial. I've never made a journal and didn't know anything about them - and was having a hard time getting straight answers on what they were or how to make one. This was easy to understand and gives me confidence to try- after all, it is just paper!

Thank you for this. I'm starting my first journal and I feel a bit overwhelmed from the millions of variations. You brought it down to the "brass tacks" and made it so understandable. I've been a sub for just a few months now and I've enjoyed watching your vids.

Thank you Gayle for this beginner journal as I know it will help others who haven't made their first journal. And you are right. There's no wrong way in junk journaling. It's only paper and if you don't like it, tear it up and start over. And yes practice makes perfect! Start small at the beginning until you have learned how to make different ephemera! You are a fantastic teacher Gayle and I've learned a lot from you and i so appreciate your knowledge! Tyfs!

Thank you, Gayle! I was one of those wondering "where to start"! And thanks for explaining what a "signature" is! (I Googled it and found nothing that related to what we're doing!!) I feel so much more comfortable, knowing I can do this! (I probably shouldn't - because I'm working on Mandalas & making Christmas Cards for 2019 - a LOT of them - but I love the idea!!) I just started the process of making some "painty papers" for the first time! It's fun!! Don't know where I'll use them ... but they're cool!! Maybe I'll cut them down (when I get finished with them) and put them in a journal that I make!! Or maybe they'll go behind the Mandalas!! Anyway - thanks a lot for this video. I'm going to be going back to it a lot!!! Good Job!!

Thanks so much. I've paper crafted for years, but nothing like this. I am one of the frozen ones afraid to try. You make it seem simple with your detailed instructions. I will try to make one very soon. I've been collecting supplies so I can get started now.

Thank you Gayle! I am exactly the sort of person that this video was intended for. I love creating and have made my own cards for years. But I was looking for a new, exciting way to utilise my 'stash'. Now, I have just finished my very first 'Junk Journal', and I am incredibly happy! With aroha and best regards, from New Zealand. 💖
