Great videos, I like your approach. That car is going to be amazing once back on the road. Looking forward to seeing it run. There's another series of videos from Finn (Man In A Garage) who has completely rebuilt his 996.1 in the USA. These are such great cars and so under rated and valued.
Hi Frances, many thanks for your message. Much appreciated. I know Fin, he was meticulous in his work. They are indeed undervalued vehicles. The general evaluation is just skin deep from people who don’t know them or have owned them. They are excellent to work on, everything is still available and they are amazing to drive. Kind regards Joël
I have to think that your meticulous attention to detail, step by step, will pay dividends imminently. And just because the martins are swiping your small parts doesn't mean you're not going completely mad 🤣. You've earned it Joël...so much great work here.
Exciting time for a project - but also expensive :-) Taking apart and cleaning is a few Euros on white spirit but at this stage its loads of Euros for all those bits and bobs - a cable here, a few screws there and you're soon having to make all sorts of justifications to your wife! Looking good though and it will be great to see the old thing on its wheels again!
At 2:15 you showed the new clutch again but without the alignment tool and it looks like you hadn't bolted the pressure plate up. Thought it worth mentioning in case!!
Thank you for that. I think I lost some footage of doing the clutch. I was searching for it while making the video but no luck. It was the entire sequence of fitting the clutch with the tool and overcoming that issue I mentioned where the plate was sitting proud of the flywheel. Goodness knows where it went. Probably lost it through swapping content from one iPhone to the other. Thanks for mentioning it though. Very astute as always. 🙂

Thank you sir. And you are right. It’s a slippery slope.
