I got the DDJ 400. Thanks for the video! I like the look of it more, it's kind of 2010ish. I also don't need the extra features on the FLX4. I have also read that the build quality seem to be a bit better on the old ones but not sure.
@@Guruofgame101 First of all, the DDJ-SB3 has a mixer section with a well-distributed layout and a much better effects section: it allows you to manage up to 3 effects simultaneously for each channel, unlike the effects section of the FLX-4, which is very inconvenient, especially with its selector that switches between deck 1 and 2. I find no convenience in the layout of the FLX-4 or the DDJ-400. The layout of the DDJ-SB3 perfectly matches the software, while the DDJ-400 is more similar to a club-style mixer but has nothing to do with CDJs. In my opinion, a controller should mirror the software exactly and not give the illusion of being hardware. It’s not a CDJ-if someone wants a CDJ, they should buy a CDJ, not a controller. The FLX-4 has a USB-C port, which is not reliable at all, unlike the DDJ-SB3 and the DDJ-400, which have a USB Type-A port that is much harder to break. From this perspective, if I had to choose between the FLX-4 and the DDJ-400, I’d go for the DDJ-400. The FLX-4 and the DDJ-400 are generally used with Rekordbox. However, after two software updates, Rekordbox tends to make controllers obsolete, as we’ve seen with previous Pioneer models. On the other hand, controllers designed for Serato continue to work seamlessly with all updates. That said, this aspect is less relevant since the FLX-4 and the DDJ-400, with the latest firmware, are also compatible with Serato. However, I must stress that the FLX-4 and the DDJ-400 are not ideal controllers for Serato. In my opinion, these controllers are not even functional enough for Rekordbox. It’s a shame Pioneer hasn’t made the DDJ-SB3 compatible with Rekordbox-if they did, it would be the perfect choice. As for me, I opted for the DDJ-SB3, mainly because I already had a used Serato Pro license that I purchased years ago for $70. For those who don’t have the Serato Pro license, I strongly recommend not buying the FLX-4. Instead, add a little more to your budget and look for a good used controller like the DDJ-SX2, which includes the integrated Serato Pro license and is undoubtedly a winning and reliable controller for many years to come
Love some of those features. Gutted I use serato. Although it is only entry level, you could easily use this on a night working. Great Video as always.
Just bagged a flx4 a few weeks back after my tank-like denon mc4000 gave up the ghost after 8 years. First impressions out the box was what is this cheap kids toy! The build quality seems well below my denon which cost a similar amount. However, since having a good play around with it I love it, combined with algoriddim DJ pro. Not sure about longevity but for an entry level controller it’s brilliant. Fader is nice and smooth, jog wheels feel great for mixing and scratching. Love the effects and the cross fader effect is a nice bonus.
Can someone please explain what it means to either use rekordbox or dj serato? Like does the hardware you buy determine the software? And is the FLX4 compatible with both, but the ddj400 only with rekordbox? Is it like a one time use serial number you get with the hardware? How does this software work if you buy the hardware second hand? Hope someone here is able to help😃
So rekordbox and serato are DJ software programmes. The controller you buy simply controls this software, much like how a games console has a controller. Some controllers can only control specific software for example the DDJ 400 can only be used with rekordbox whereby the FLX4 can be used with both serato and rekordbox. For Pioneer DJ they got rid of serial numbers some time ago so the software should work when you plug in the device.
How many of them effects do you get on serato pro? Im looking at getting a flx4 bundle with speakers etc and the website im looking at says they throw in serato pro as part of the bundle. Great video by the way.
Used ddj400 to play over AirPlay last night. I bet if u hook up to a computer and use that Bluetooth it would work. With airplay there is a fair amount of delay tho.
Really depends on what your budget is. The FLX-10 is a great unit but way more expensive. If you don’t enjoy djing after you buy your controller..will you be annoyed you spent a lot of money if you went for the FLX-10
i want to perform in the clubs but most clubs don’t let djs to bring their equipmant they want the latest ones. So then i ask myself what’s the point of buying more expensive one if i won’t be able to bring my own dj set.
You clearly aren’t from the UK 😂. The idea of buying equipment could be for mobile work or to have something close to a club set up at home so that you will feel at home when you have a set of CDJs in front of you
Sir Music has always been my passion, and I’m working hard to develop my skills as a DJ. Coming from a humble background, it’s been challenging to access the right equipment to pursue my dream. The DDJ-400 would be a game-changer for me, allowing me to showcase my talent and, hopefully, support my family in the process. If there’s any way you could help me by giving me this equipment, it would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for considering! 🙏💗

@venkateshsenguttuvan8376 I like both devices however the FLX-4 has a few extra features.
Ddj400 is old now and people still trying to sell it at the price of a new flx4😂 this video helped clear up the differences ❤

A 3-4 years old DDJ 1000 is going above MSRP ... people are people
I have the 400 but I must say the flx 4 definitely looks worth it. I might have to update later on this year forsure. Thank you for the review!
No problem and thank you for watching!
I sold the FLX 4 and repurchased the DDJ-SB3, no comparison, the best controller hands down with the most comfortable and comprehensive layout.

Can you use Virtual Dj on the ddj 400?
I’m pretty sure you can as virtual DJ is mapped to pretty much any controller on the market!
THANK YOU LEGEND THAT WAS EPIC!

the more upgrade controllers you mentioned like ddj800/1000 does not have smart cfx, right? So smart cfx is unique on flx4
