"Would I Lie To You" is a MUST; her vocals are stunning on this one. "Here Comes The Rain Again" is also fabulous, and their 2nd highest chart topper after Sweet Dreams. Their hits are definitely an integral part of the soundtracks that define the mid 80's!
The Eurythmics were definitely the high water mark of the first artists on MTV- the songs were great, and the videos were groundbreaking. "Here Comes The Rain Again", "Love Is A Stranger", "Sweet Dreams", "Would I Lie To You?", "Right By Your Side", "There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)", "Who's That Girl?", "This City Never Sleeps" (if you want something REALLY moody). Annie Lennox's voice and Dave Stewart's arrangements and guitar playing were way ahead of the curve compared to other British new wave bands at the time. And if you really want to hear a battle of the divas, check out the duet Annie Lennox did with Aretha Franklin (called, fittingly enough, "Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves").
It's been said in previous comments but, here it is again... If you want to see her rock the heck out of a song check out "Would I Lie To You? That sound rocks so freaking hard still 37 years later. And it's catchy as all get out....
The backing singer Joniece Jamison sang with The Eurythmics on several occasions. The harmonica player is Jimmy Zavala also known as Jimmy Z, he played harmonica with several top bands.
You would enjoy listening to “Walking on Broken Glass” as well as “Honestly”. These two really emphasize Annie’s beautiful voice and are two of my favorites. Love you both and I look forward to seeing which songs you chose to react to and listening as your musical knowledge grows. 😃👍🏼
I gotta put in a good word for "Would I Lie To You". Like I said in a separate comment, you've just got to wonder at that voice coming out of a wee Lassie frae Aberdeen Scotland (Not Washington state where Kurt Cobain was from). I was raised in Ayrshire on the west coast, Aberdeen is over on the east coast of the North Sea - from where we lived I could ride my bike to the sea shore and on the (rare) clear day your could see the Mull of Kintyre that Paul McCartney sang about.
@@katherinebosse5706 "Why" is a masterpiece and Annie is one of the great wonders of the world. Supremely talented, stunningly beautiful, ferocious and tender. In short, a goddess.
Annie Lennox is a treasure, and a powerhouse. After leaving Dave Stewart she went on to an even better solo career, including "Why", her cover of the Bob Marley classic "Waiting in Vain", and, with another heavy harmonica riff, "It's a Thin Line Between Love and Hate", which might be the definitive version of the song, originally recorded by the R&B group The Persuaders in 1971 and then by the English group, The Pretenders, featuring Chrissie Hynde, in the Eighties.
Please please PLEASE consider doing a vid on Grace Jones. She's one of Annie's big inspirations (along with David Bowie), and her live rendition of Sting's "Demolition Man" (which was written for her) is the STUFF. OF. LEGENDS. She is brilliant and ballsy and bizarre, and more beautiful than 90% of the women I've ever seen. Trust me, you won't regret it.
Of course, this is a Eurythmics song, and despite Annie Lennox's diva performances, the importance of Dave Stewart to the result sound cannot be overstated.
Joniece Jamison is the lady singing backup. Annie and Al Green have a song together called "Put a Little Love In Your Heart". You should also check out "Money Can't Buy It", "Walking On Broken Glass", and her duet with "Aretha Franklin "Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves". Aretha Franklin singing "I Ain't Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)" just might blow your mind. I recently heard Faith Evans sing it and was reminded of how much my mom and aunts loved the song.
"Annie and Al Green have a song together called "Put a Little Love In Your Heart". " Anyone who has seen Scrooged has heard this in the end credits. Great song and even better film.

Try doing 'why' by Annie Lennox, so emotional a totally different side to her, or anything she has done just an amazing voice. And with Dave Stewart(now a really well known producer) in the eurythmics great together. Even back to really early stuff in the 80s with the Tourists Annie's voice has always shone in any genre.
You two are the best! Thank you so much for sharing music from all different decades. You are storytellers keeping the songs alive. I'm an 80's kid, so I love hearing your excitement and appreciation of the artists. It makes me remember the first time I listened to the albums!! Another 80's woman is Allison Moyet - the band Yaz (or Yazzoo in Europe). I think you will LOVE her sound!!! Album - Upstairs at Eric. Really any song will do. Situation, Don't Go, Didn't I Bring Your Love down or Midnight (not super popular, but my favorite). Wishing you all the best & more!!!
Jimmy Zavala on harmonica and the killer backup singer is Janiece Jamison. Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart were romantically linked for several years … they made some great music together too 😁
Other eurythmics songs I love includes thorn in my side, when tomorrow comes, would I lie to you, sisters are doing it for themselves ( a duet with Aretha Franklin) , here comes the rain again love is a stranger. Eurythmics - "There Must Be an Angel (Playing with my Heart) is a must reaction. Much different features of Annie Lennox voice. You wouldn't call it a "Banger" because it is not hard. It's energetic throughout but it is much softer and melodic and includes an incredible harmonica solo by Stevie Wonder near the end. Songs like Missionary Man feature her lower register. "There Must Be an Angel" features her entire range. The fact that she appears angelic, in the video, complete with Angels wings, is almost a complete opposite of Missonary Man and just exhibits the range the Eurythmics could achieve. Annie is amazing! Suggestion for Female Friday: You must check out Siouxsie and The Banshees! This band was originally associated with the punk movement but evolved into one of the most influential bands of the post-punk era. Siouxsie Sue, the lead singer, is mesmerizing, dynamic, and has an amazing voice. I recommend starting with Cities in Dust. It's a song about the city of Pompeii that was destroyed when Mt. Vesuvius erupted, engulfing it in ash and flame. I think you will find it a departure from anything you've listened to before.

Great reaction!! “Walking on Broken Glass” is a BOP. Definitely another good one to check out from Annie!
If you want to hear Annie Lennox at her best listen to “Who’s That Girl” and “I Need a Man”. You’ll be blown away!
She and Aretha Franklin doing Sisters Are Doing it for Themselves is incredible.
Annie Lennox has always been, in my opinion, and underrated front woman. Although she was in a band but without her the Eurhythmics do not exist! You should also check out Here Comes the Rain Again
I saw her in a documentary about a year ago and she is still beautiful! I love her crazy videos and how she is such a fabulous singer!
You absolutely have to do Annie Lennox' "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" for one of your Christmas songs. When you do, watch the official video.
Heck yeah!!!! So glad you finally got to this one!! It's a total JAM!!!!! Now you need to give a listen to her singing "There Must Be An Angel(Messing With My Heart)! Another very different vibe and it will blow you away!!
you gotta do the official music video for Eurythmics "Would I Lie to You?" It's another banger with great guitar work from Dave, a real showcase of Annie's vocal talents, pounding drums, and HORNS featured prominently. AND -- it's a song all about female-empowerment, perfect for Female Fridays!
Would I Lie To You. Her voice is nuts in that song.
I love some of Annie's slower songs, they really show off the beauty of her voice, Cold, Why, The Gift
Great choices ! all off the diva album which is an amazing piece of work, love the gift 🎁
This is by far my favorite Eurythmics song. It is awesome.
This is really a BANGER!! Glad y’all listened to this. Her voice is just amazing. There isn’t anything Annie can’t do vocally imo. ( harmonica?? Pls pls do INXS “ suicide blonde”!!!!!
This song is by far one of my all time favourites & I'm so glad you appreciate that harmonica solo as much as I do ,great reaction ❤️
Female Fridays - yet to play CHRISSIE HYNDE of the original PRETENDERS - who is in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame - and is an icon.........?????/
Yesss! I think they would love “Brass in Pocket”
Can you believe Pat Benetar is not in the R & R Hall of Fame?
Would I Lie To You, Here Comes The Rain, Walking On Broken Glass...all so great! Loved Annie back in the day!

You 2 give the best reviews ever. It's such a pleasure to see you enjoy the music I love. Annie is also one of my favorites. There's a lot more to come from her. All good.
still; to this day; those eyes...I'm captivated every time, every song......a good Scot woman
Hat's off guys! I was expecting this from you !
My favorite is "Would I Lie to You". Love your reaction.
I grew up with this BANGER!!! This song makes me 17 all over again!
Eurythmics OWNED the 80's. This song slaps, like they all do.
Amber, Would I Lie to You, there you go girl. They were so good.in concert. Annie Lennox is just so talented, she owns her look and style. Thanks for this one, made me smile.
"Love Is A Stranger", "Who's That Girl" and "You Have Placed A Chill In My Heart" are just a few others of the many, many awesome songs from the Eurythmics throughout the years!
Her cover of Waiting in Vain is so good. Just blows me away.
Total powerhouse. My favourite female artist. Your should check out her later stuff. She rocks .put a spell on you is amazing ..She's always reminded me of an equivalent female to Bowie .
sisters are doing it for themselves is another great one
I love this song (Missionary Man), love the lyrics and always felt it has been under-appreciated. I love the reaction to this song. I agree with a post below that Here Comes The Rain Again is another Eurythmics great. The Eurythmics were an influential if not revolutionary band with "Sunglasses at Night" and "Send Me an Angel" copying, or sounding similar to, Sweet Dreams.
Here Comes the Rain Again & Would i Lie to You are both great songs by the Eurythmics
I was able to see Eurythmics twice in concert. Both times they were amazing! Ms Annie is talented and beautiful!
