Near doesn’t deserve the hate he got. He finished what L started and respected L greatly. And was very loyal to him. One quote stands out. “That’s not how we work commander. We kill those two, the murders stop. Such ex post facto justification will not be tolerated. That’s not the way L and I do things, because that would be an insult. Don’t forget, L entrusted this case to those who came after him.”

Many people points out that without Mello’s sacrifice Near could had not been able to beat Near, and that’s true. Even Near says at the end. But Near did something crucial, he understood all the game, the rules, the cheats, the mentality of Kira and his weakness (his ego). This is how the trap was possible, that was the puzzle.
According to Near’s philosophy and way of thinking that doesn’t matter. For him you could either win (in a clean way) or loose and nothing else matter. He said that “If you can’t complete the puzzle, you are a looser”. Despite the brilliance of the character, he was going to loose if he had followed his original plan.
It’s actually kind of hilarious, cause I always thought L purposely had them in the backseat just in case- as Mellow is more like Light/Kira in temper but like L in engaging a dynamic threat Near is more like L overtly but has the cunning and ruthless focus of light/kiras self righteous zeal L couldn’t defeat the combo of a split light, but if L could had kept his split approach rather than getting hands on he would had taken longer but may had got light without dying- yet he would had stood to lose to Kira more times as a result Trying to be both would always end in failure; so splitting himself up and positioning Light (locking him) as the replacement L puts him directly in their line of sight and lights nature would naturally rub theirs enough to distort the cooperation of the teams and foster distrust towards all but themselves- as they knew how their partner worked I think they realized this and played the part in honor of L- Near wins the war and Mellow wins the vital victory L died to expose the level of nuance Kira will use to win (cheating at the game) and had the two people that could fight back hit him with their own modifications to the game This forced light to play three characters at once, and reduced his effectiveness at winning the game- sort of like Chinese checkers, if the other players choose to overwhelm one side, any cooperation by two or more players as severely impact the effective deployment of the remaining players’ forces Same happened here
Near was one of the least egotistic character in the entire Death Note series, and I believe that it is one of the key reasons why he won in the end. For example, he accepted all sorts of help he found during the course of the series.
People forget that Light wasn't all that clever, in reality. He thrusted himself into this game and the only way out was death, if we're being honest. Near really was superior to L and Light and I liked his mindset going forward after L's death. It really made me wanna see the series continue with different Kira's and different investigators. The problem is people don't think of this anime like they do other anime and I like how weird the end got and how high the stakes always seemed
nor mellor or near were superior to L you should see both of them as L's split personalities in a way near is prideless while mello drowns in pride near is calm while mello drowns in hatred the only reason near coul figure out light was kira was because of L's past research (L already knew light was kira since a long time ago he just had no way to prove it)
@@guy6796 actually, L told watari if anything happened to him he should delete all of his data and research on the kira case. Watari did so before he died, leaving Near and Mello with nothing to go off of. Near actually did all his research without the help of L.
@@fvndz that's not true. If it weren't for L the existence of the notebook wouldn't be out there. Also the idea that Kira would likely take over as the second L which only they would know since Ls death means they already had the prime suspect lined up and ready to go. After that all it was, was the matter of proving it. Lights victory against L, put him in the position to be the prime suspect in OG Kira tasks force eyes. Aizawa only gave in when he realized the near made sense of the fake rules and remained impartial. Hell lights dad always had his suspicions until he saw lights life span.
Nate River, N, the real L. Very much enjoyed this character. Partial bias as he has the DMC "White-Silver" hair lol. It's his ability to stay even keel and react as he chooses as apposed to emotional responses. Also, one random thought about the clip you show about N wanting to capture Kira as L would, and not just forcefully killing kira ect. Issue with that is this show has the concept of Lifespans and to my understanding the only way around the fated end is the use of the notebook. A normal attempt of murder may fail because of that reason potentially. Anyway, its interesting to think about.
I liked Nears mindset. He deserves the L title. In the start I haven't liked him at all. But now I can understand him. I know that many people hated him. I personally am kinda neutral with him.
That’s not true. He wouldn’t defeat Kira is he never acts. He initiated the contact with Light and tried to get the task force to spill on him. He sent SPK to pick up the Death Note from Mikami even though he could get killed. He’s not radical like L and Melli, but he has to act or nothing will be done.
Near did a much better job of turning the Japanese task force against Light than L did.

people only hate near because he isn’t L, that’s literally the only reason
Many people points out that without Mello’s sacrifice Near could had not been able to beat Near, and that’s true. Even Near says at the end. But Near did something crucial, he understood all the game, the rules, the cheats, the mentality of Kira and his weakness (his ego). This is how the trap was possible, that was the puzzle.

L couldn’t defeat the combo of a split light, but if L could had kept his split approach rather than getting hands on he would had taken longer but may had got light without dying- yet he would had stood to lose to Kira more times as a result
Trying to be both would always end in failure; so splitting himself up and positioning Light (locking him) as the replacement L puts him directly in their line of sight and lights nature would naturally rub theirs enough to distort the cooperation of the teams and foster distrust towards all but themselves- as they knew how their partner worked
I think they realized this and played the part in honor of L- Near wins the war and Mellow wins the vital victory
L died to expose the level of nuance Kira will use to win (cheating at the game) and had the two people that could fight back hit him with their own modifications to the game
This forced light to play three characters at once, and reduced his effectiveness at winning the game- sort of like Chinese checkers, if the other players choose to overwhelm one side, any cooperation by two or more players as severely impact the effective deployment of the remaining players’ forces

Near is precious.

This video made me respect Near. Shows that self awareness and teamwork is key to do great things.
