If this floor could last three years with no issues, it means she live alone, work all day long, and hang out with friends at the weekend.
I wish! 😅
No chance this lasted 3 years. Did you ever mop the floor?
@@nina8394 after doing what she did to the tile in the video?
I can attest to the durability of this floor painting... but the KEY is to put on several coats of polyurethane and then add more clear coats after 5 years or so... luckily floor paint is very thin and dries very fast (a surprise to me) definitely the number of clear coats is what determines how long it will last. Can’t beat the cost as an alternative to new tiles...a GREAT and EASY DIY 💜
I love the stencilling. I actually DID paint my kitchen floor also but it’s just black and white. It’s been about 15 years and it’s starting to scuff so I think I should have used another couple of polyurethane coats about 5 to 7 years ago... floor paint is very thin and dries really fast which is cool. But it’s the clear coats that keep it lookin good. I am going to stencil just like this when I finally get around to fixing the floor. Thank y’all for the great idea! Blessings 💜
Very good lots of work
I think you just solved a problem for me!🙏👍🇨🇦
Excellent idea!!
People are like: OMG GREAT IDEA LOVE IT
Yeah like it won't get dirty as hell, it won't be extremely difficult to clean or the paint won't chip🙄
Im pretty sure you can clean it with the right paint
No, I clean it like all my other floors.
@@thediymommy do you keep away from using certain chemicals or you just clean it with soap and water ? Can you use or have you use bleach on your floor?
I think they put a coat of polyurethane on top of it?
I L♥️VE This Girl ! Everything I've seen her put her Hand to is Pretty, so Functional, and she makes Look so Easy ! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I mean, didn’t look bad in the first place.
She didn't say it looked bad, but is is outdated and isn't really "in style" anymore :)
Beautiful!!!!
I remember watching the video when you did this. It’s so cool and that’s great it’s lasted so far.
So Pretty!
I will need this. I’m so excited! Thank you!!
Beautiful DIY floor 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 this will last many years.
I love it and might try it 💜💜
I saw this in a home for sale and it’s god awful in person
Nice beautiful job
Beautiful
Genius!!
..just another project I'm waiting for you to come do for me 😁 I paint canvas, walls and furniture, but here again, I'd need help getting up off the floor! I do like it very much however! 😍
Thanks Gina! Sounds like if we ever meet, you'll put me to work ;)
@@thediymommy I would, but why not, Christina 😉 I love doing things to great strides! There's just Some Things I dont/can't do alone (getting up off the floor so easily these days, and Ikea put it together installments) but I work Well with others who too know "the ropes"! 😘
Nice update! I remember seeing this and loved it! 😍😍
Where did you buy those stencils? You are the answer to my prayers! I have been looking for this for a long time now because I have to sell my beach house and needed better ideas
Amazon
That was great, made the room look so uplifted and modern, amazing work,!
Thank you!
Awesome!
Wow... what an idea for a modern updated look. You’re THE BOMB!
Thank you! LOL!
A product specifically created to resurface. protect and seal tile (like Kilz 2 or one of their newer products) would probably look even better and last longer through years of foot traffic and mopping.
Using the products you mentioned will you be able to use bleach?
@@wiseforce7045 It was originally developed for bath and shower enclosures as a repair, resurfacing and resealing product. After a thorough prep cleaning kilz2 can cover old paint and even a little smoke damage pretty well as a base coat on walls. But working on areas previously saturated in caustic or abrasive scrubbing products like comet might be problematic. So I would definitely contact the companies site and talk with your supply store store paint and products expert. They bring out new product versions pretty often and might have a new and improved formula available. if you're working with really chemical soaked or pitted out surfaces they might require neutralizing and sanding or prefilling .And reading those care directions on the can is always a good idea! Maybe consider switching to a milder liquid cleanser instead, Most paints and surfacing products labelling do warn that they require specific care.
Honestly this wouldn't be that bad if it was just matte black but maybe apply a dozen or so protective layers of clear sealant
That looks fantastic!
Do you have kids, dogs or cats? I would want to know how it would hold up for high traffic areas with kids and dogs. Your floor looks great. I have seen a few bathrooms dine like this as well as concrete patios. Just a really cool idea. For me I don't have the patience for stencils. No matter what I use spray glue etc I still get a bleed under neath. I know its pretty easy to clean up. Still less work the better.
Love it! Where did u get the stencil pls ? 😊
Can this be done if there are cracks in the tiles? Looks great dear, well done!. Don't need a guy for any of it, that's the best part! lol
I planted over a little crack here and I think it looks ok!
@@thediymommy the tiles around my cottage all seem to be cracking. This is just a great idea dear. I am gonna save this tutorial for this summer, so the wood stove isn't being used when I try this. I'll try to remember to let you know how it goes. It just looks so easy, but looks are usually deceiving to me. lol. Take care dear, and thank you for your response.
Precioso, me encanta! Un 10 para la artista
I have the same kind of tile that is great I seen that on one of these shows and I thought that was so brilliant you know thank you for demonstrating I just love what you did with your tiles.🥰👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Yvonne!
Brilliant 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That looks amazing! I would love to try it but there would be little paw prints all over my house while it dried 😹😹
You did a beautiful job 😊
Brilliant!
I loved it.what can you do for broken peel and stick flooring?
Vinyl floor tiles?
Impressive
Whoa, I LOVE this idea!🙆♀️ I would love to know if you think it's a good idea for a high traffic area?🤔❤
I think it could be with lots of sealant!
Cool...upgrade for an old...outdated flooring!!
Yes, it's a ton of work but I'm so happy with it - almost 3 years later and it still looks great. Thanks for watching!
@@thediymommy well the floor looked fine before...but when you can do something creative..and lasting like what you did.. it looks so much better!! Excellent job!!
Please can I have your used stencil for this floor I want my floor to be like yours please please
I don't have it anymore! This was from almost 3 years ago. The stencil is still available here though: www.cuttingedgestencils.com/santa-ana-tile-stencil-spanish-tiles-cement-tile-patterns.html
Is this floor heavily used? I’m guessing my location that it’s not. I’d love to do this in my bathroom but fear since it’s my only bathroom that it would wear quickly.
My blogging friend Dale has painted her bathroom flooring and you can find her thoughts right here: www.bloomingdiyer.com/post/painted-stenciled-floors
Love this idea! Much easier than pulling up old tile! Would you say this is durable enough for a laundry room, or better for spaces that are less likely to get wet? Thanks! 😊
Thank you! I haven't tried a laundry room, but I've seen people paint bathroom tiles successfully using lots of top coat!
I love it, but won't the paint chip?
I can’t believe it’s been 3 years
Me either...maybe a month tops.
That is the same exact corner tile we have in Colorado. It made me double take and think "wait, how did they get in our house!!??" Lol
Aí tira o forno do lugar e acaba a mágica.
You can get peel and stick tiles just like that for $1-3 a tile and save all that labor and well
Fire place and peel tiles underneath?
Room looks nice in the video but I do have some doubts
You might as well put pinstripes on all them corners
I wonder if this would work on the tile that frames the fireplace 🤔 (aka would it withstand the heat)
Nagyon tetszik 👌😊
Not to be mean but I Really didn’t think the tile that was there looked dated !! I may need to check myself but I only saw a very very small part of your floor and not the entire room
Sooo beautiful!
What was it that you add after the chalk paint?
I sealed everything with Varathane polyurethane in a satin finish. I have written instructions and links to everything that I used here: thediymommy.com/how-to-paint-tile-floors-with-a-stencil/
I’m here in our new older house
Would this work in the kitchen?
Where water might be?
I've never tried in a high traffic area but I shared an update in this post and and linked a blogger friend of mine who has done it in her bathroom: thediymommy.com/do-painted-floor-tiles-last/
Do you seal it after? Can it be washed? Ty it looks great
Yes, I sealed it afterward. I have the materials list and instructions right here: thediymommy.com/how-to-paint-tile-floors-with-a-stencil/ - Thanks for watching!
💖💖💖💖
Wow, this one was short! 😅

PAINTED FLOOR TILE UPDATE over 2 years later: ruclips.net/video/2A60lWvi2TA/видео.html
I have a house full of tile and I have been thinking about painting it. I have concerns as I have three dogs. Will this hold up.
I would take those 10 year old beige tiles over my 20 year old terracotta tiles
What grit sandpaper did you use
Liked the old one better
How.much did this all cost you? Ball park?
Can I do this on linoleum floors linoleum ?
Well, It’s nice and all but why didn’t you move the fireplace first?
looks like my cabin up in tahoe
I don't know if it's just me but I feel like this is the same as putting carpet on your walls
Huh? How is that the same? Uhh what the heck do you mean?
How does it hold with the fire stove heat?
We don't use the stove, I'm not sure how it would hold up with that kind of heat. I'd definitely recommend researching paints before attempting that :)
Paint is never a good idea on a floor. Good prep will see it last a few years at best, but it's better to just do it right and put down new tile.
My floor has lasted 3 years so far. This means the making of this video was 3 years ago because you see her installing the flour. What a bad lie...
Yes, the floor is 3 years old. The video you're watching is part of a shorts series, so it's a clip of an older video. You can find the original here: ruclips.net/video/bPHEGlVNkNk/видео.html (Posted in May of 2018) and you can see the update (2.5 years later) right here: ruclips.net/video/2A60lWvi2TA/видео.html (Posted in Sept 2020)
What do I use in high traffic areas? The tile is so outdated and sticks out like a sore thumb
Get new tiles ahahah
Or a vinyl top is cheaper, there are great inexpensive models to chose from.
If you don't have the room for a thicker new layer of flooring, check out peel and stick options. I feel that they would wear off a lot slower than paint ☺️
"expensive update(?)"
man it actually is expensive since the things you used make a total of more than 1000
No, I didn't spend $1000 on supplies. It was around $150.
@@thediymommy what if I told you that was less than 150 dollars to buy new tiles
Better than the fake DIY hacks, ahm 5-minute crafts
I have the exact same tiles in my kitchen, which is high traffic area, do you think it's doable??
I've heard of people doing it in high traffic areas with success. My friend painted her bathroom tiles, you can check it out here: www.bloomingdiyer.com/post/painted-stenciled-floors
So would you recommend this process for areas where there is foot heavy traffic?
Yes I’d like to know if it’s good for the kitchen?
I've never done it in a kitchen, but I know a few bloggers that have done it in a bathroom and been happy with this results. Check this one out here: www.bloomingdiyer.com/post/painted-stenciled-floors
"No shoes on the tile!"
Could not catch last item used
Hi Misa, this is another of the Shorts series, I'll send you to my blog for this one - it has a link to the full video if you'd like to watch, and a list and links to the materials used: thediymommy.com/how-to-paint-tile-floors-with-a-stencil/
Where can I get a wood stove like that one?
Do not do this. You're better off with tile you don't like until you can afford to get tile or some other flooring you do like
It looked heavenly until you put stencil on there
"Its been 3 years" yeah, that's why this video was posted a month ago.
The video was re-posted a month ago as part of the new RUclips Shorts library, you can find the long version, originally posted in 2018 right here: ruclips.net/video/bPHEGlVNkNk/видео.html
Honestly, for the amount of chalk paint you’ll have to buy and the potential that this isn’t all that durable in the long run... you could just buy peel and stick tiles. Use real grout between the stickers to make them look more realistic.
Peel and stick under a wood burning stove? Will bubble up and it is probably against building code.
Why chalk paint?
Dated......now it looks like something from the 1960s
The tile looked better before
Finish with a coat of What? Please?
Hi Vicki, I finished with a coat of Varathane polyurethane in a satin finish - you can get the full video (this is just a short one) and a list of materials on my website here: thediymommy.com/how-to-paint-tile-floors-with-a-stencil/#mv-creation-22-jtr
And what if you mop
Why did i understand " have you dated floor-tile"
Totally not expensive
I have a natural stone that’s porous & this would not work…. Lovely idea though.🙂🙂
Why does this keeping popping up on my Yt Shorts??
The DIY mommy...
“Sand the tile down really well”
Ha ha ...
That paint will peel off ( especially on the floor) !! And it’s gonna be a mess to clean and redo.
Bad idea to paint tiles!!! Don’t ..
Omg hellooo can i get a hi omggg❤❤❤
Hi Millie’s family. You most certainly get a hi and a high 5 from me! I love finding delightful ways to make things look nice for your family and friends!
I’m going to give this a go in my shower tile and back splash and see how it works out.
But now it looks even more dated or old fashioned
*when u have real marble floor*
Tf dude
Ha, thats dated? Mine is a stick on vinyl from the 70s, its butt ugly and not cool looking at all.
More dated than before
👍🏽🥰😍
