It wasn't only an Incognito that Chris Hadfield and Adam Savage shared during 2015's Comic-Con; Col. Hadfield was also on Adam's panel: ruclips.net/video/ZX7KrgynRGo/видео.html
When Commander Hatfield talks about how authentic the suits sound because of the liquid cooling system, the smile on Adam's face is infectious. He's totally geeking out!
I thought the same thing. Checking everything and being very clear in his communication. I guess astronauting would do that to ya, or if you're not naturally like that then you don't get to be a space walker.
It was 100% honest reaction from him, after so many years of studying and preparing for space flight and work, it transforms into a natural reflex for astronauts to pay attention for every details you need to deal with. He explains it well in his book.
Darren of Photos In another tested video with Adam you can clearly see him at the end of the video: turn off his mic, place it back on the stand, look down to check it’s clear to stand up out of his chair and then stands up 😂 “all equipment must be stowed properly”

One small detail that Adam did that I appreciate. But first, the historical context - If you know what to look for in all NASA films from Apollo era onward - the Commander is always the guy with the red stripe on the sleeve or helmet (sometimes both). The intention with the suits may have been to be identical on the outside (to help with the incognito part). Thus no identifying details on the outside of the suits. BUT - I would bet real money that Adam (detail geek that he is) intentionally gave COMMANDER Chris Hadfield the RED balaclava on purpose for exactly the reasons given above. Well played, Mr. Savage. Well played. ^_^
Re the red stripe....specifically it started with Jim Lovell on Apollo 13, since Mission Control couldn't tell Armstrong from Aldrin on Apollo 11, or Conrad from Bean on 12.
+Jubal Early *You're* technically right since a vast majority of the whole US population are aliens. The only ones who can truly call themselves Americans are the Native Americans. The rest are just trespassers on land stolen by their ancestors, which was built on by a lot of blood.
I love how Hadfield so casually talks about space stuff, which is so amazing to us. I also love how he pays attention to the smallest things, like the cooling system, when he turns Adams on, and says "It takes about 5 seconds, the small of the back." The level of detail in his observation of what happened when Adam turned his on to test it is something that many people would not even consider storing in their mind, much less relaying to others.
Czar Kevin M. Johnston I know right? Like i love watching conversations between brilliant minds where they are talking to each other and not an audience.
Czar Kevin M. Johnston I for one would absolutely be in favour of that raw footage! Two genuinely magnetic men, awesome for their own reasons, simply conversing. Hell yes I would watch that!
I'm not even embarrassed to say that I was giggling like a schoolgirl the entire time. Adam Savage and Chris Hadfield. God I never thought I'd see them just talking to each other...
Holy crap. Chris Hadfield. Adam, the sci-fi lover, dreaming about space and TV shows/movies, walking around comic-con with a man that has left our planet. The whole idea of being an astronaut is so amazing. These are people that leave Earth, the planet that houses every other known life form that exists. Adam got to roam about Comic-con with someone that can say he left Earth.
That's awesome of Chris Hadfield to do that! That must be the most awesome thing to do, not only meet an astronaut but hang out with him! Such an honor and an experience!
Nothing should stop you from asking, and I'm sure he would love to give you a tour. As a nerd to an other nerd. By the way, doesn't you live quite close to their studio?
treebeard That's kinda like flipping over a table cloth with a stain on it. You can flip it twice, but that's not gonna do much. The only way to do it properly is like it three, five or seven times ^^
Two legends from two very different walks of life having so much in common. Amazing. Just makes me think of how we're all in this together. Only together will humanity will go far.
Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans . The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. It's not about following the law - perfectly, as it's impossible - it's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him through His power (not ourselves as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if you had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way. NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. Regardless of what you've done or what you're going through you CAN make it through Jesus. If you have any questions let me know xx
I gotta say I love seeing Chris Hadfield work alongside Adam, even though he's seeing the stuff for the first time all his crazy rocket engineering knowledge lets him perfectly keep up with Adam's mad genius
nsschmid haha I knew someone would make a comment like this. Tin foil doesn't work anymore unless you line it with copper...duh everyone knows that. Pshhht lol
I would have been crazy sweaty as well. Doesn't take much for me to sweat, and I'm in good, fit shape. I'm just a sweater (not the shirt). I envy those who doesn't do it that easily, like Chris.
This is, if you think about it, profound. I wonder what Stanley Kubrick would have thought of a real astronaut in the future wearing a 2001 suit made by a prop builder who, if he were working at the time, could have made those costumes. So many layers to this...
acs197 That's why their tanks managed to beat the far more advanced tanks of the Germans in WW2. German stuff was so complicated a procedure that would take a hour on a T34 would take two days and need a specialised team on a Panzer Tiger. German tank designs were awesome, but far to complicated and not enough of them. It's also why all the bad guys use AK-47s. Complete simplicity and the ability to do repairs with no tools in the middle of nowhere.
acs197 Yes, I agree. Another example is that the Americans sweep the landing strip meticulously before a take off while the Russians have titanium shields to avoid things getting sucked in to the engines.
LittleMikey People defending their homes against foreign invaders does not necessarily equal bad guys. You would probably be outside with an ak47 too if china was over here with an army trying to overthrow our government and replace it with one that agreed to sell american oil for yuan only.

Filip Hájek Wow this is an absolutely crazy coincidence, but my facebook profile picture looks like the cake that your picture is a slice from! facebook.com/mlawrenceofarabia
SlightlyNotorious I met Chris Hadfield when he was in Australia last at the powerhouse museum and also Destin from smarter everyday. It was possibly my favourite experience.
Pretty sure Adam doesn't wade through these comments, but, we chatted a bit about his need for personal cooling last year. Great to see what he ended up going with, came out great! Hadfield is such a bad-ass, must have been quite the honor to spend the day with him like this!
+SethHesio They didn't exactly *make* it. I mean, they made the housing and assembled the pump, but the suits they wore are an actual product Hadfield is already familiar with.
+CplCandyBar The cooling system was not an original part of the suit..so your point is not really a point. +SethHesio Nice to see someone use literally correctly for a change.
Adam Savage, having maxed out his nerd cred, begins inventing new levels of geeky badassery. Awesome costumes all well and good, but what we need is a chance to eat sandwiches with a real astronaut.
I like how at the end on their ride some people were actually realizing that they were looking at Adam Savage in a space suit and you can almost see that they desperately would like to stop him and say hi, but he was obviously preoccupied.
Adam, you have too much fun. Serious for a moment. Thanks for all you've done for us. You have done us all a great service by teaching us about EVERYTHING.
seriously though. listening to chris talk makes me realise that the man's a genius. he's just spouting out all this knowledge entirely nonchalant and its blowing my mind. Hats off
Imagine the folks that took pictures with, who they thought could be Adam, but not having any inkling that an actual astronaut was in one of the suits!
I absolutely love how Chris is so quick to learn. He immediately understood when the cooling system was working, adjusted how he was entering the suit, and fully comprehended just everything that Jamie was doing. I wish more people were as observant and intelligent as this man. The world would be a better place.
As a sci-fi writer, this has actually provided a LOT of insight into how to write realistic spacesuit functions. Hadfield just casually mentioning they they used to put food in suits but stopped can easily lead me to writing scenes where a character is grumpy about lack of snacks
I could watch video of these two guys talking together for hours. Chris Hadfield being super cool and telling all those cool stories, while seeing Adam with his super admiration towards him.
Every time I watch one of these videos I smile. Like full grin five year old getting candy smile. These videos really show that magic never dies even when you become an adult.
Chris Hadfield is badass. He made astronauts famous again. His work on social media from the space station was a game changer. Astronaut, scientist, leader, educator... hes the quintessential role model.
Being addicted to audible while at work i have listened to both adam savage's "every tool's a hammer" and chris hadfield's "an austronaut's guide to life on earth". Its neat to see them together as i admire them both so greatly.
A real Astronaut is going to pretend he is an Astronaut awesome stuff. Also can i just say how cool it is that an actual person that lived in space for months is walking among sci fi fans, so awesome.
Thank you Adam for sharing your art. You inspire me to make my cosplays more than just a costume but I wearable piece of fandom. Cosplay is a form of art expression :)
This is cool on so many levels! The only thing that could take this up a notch would be if they had Guillermo Del Toro dressed as Stanley Kubrick with a camera beside them :)
Col. Hadfield is a rockstar! I don't say that to bemoan the fact that he is not as famous as he should be (if only our scientists had as much recognition as pop stars!) but he actually has a suave coolness about him that is palpable through a RUclips video. Good stuff!
7:09 "This would be a lot easier in zero G." "NO." 8:01 Even for a costume, he takes it seriously. He also seems to have excellent communication, which you would need to be an astronaut. 8:35 So accurate. Improvising is half of cosplay. Super smart to use the sharpie.

+SethHesio Nice to see someone use literally correctly for a change.
It’s a miniature radiator. Simple, yet efficient.
Adam Savage, having maxed out his nerd cred, begins inventing new levels of geeky badassery. Awesome costumes all well and good, but what we need is a chance to eat sandwiches with a real astronaut.
Just imagine how much Chris's moustache has seen.
Yolo McSwaggypants the whole universe..
Of all the Chris' in Hollywood with mustaches at some point, Hadfield wins hands down
proving once again that Chris Hadfield should be in charge of NASA public relations
Hadfield: "What do you do for CO2 build-up?"
Adam: "What's that..."
8:29
+Jackie Chun The "What's that" was a "I didn't hear you" kind of what's that.
+PCZymosis i know, but it was funny to think it could've meant Adam hadn't taken it into consideration... they'd both asphyxiate :)

Adam, the only problem is. You will have to somehow top this next year.
Mr Haddfield you are amazing.
I like how at the end on their ride some people were actually realizing that they were looking at Adam Savage in a space suit and you can almost see that they desperately would like to stop him and say hi, but he was obviously preoccupied.
"This would be a lot easier in zero-G."
"No!"
XD
Adam, you have too much fun. Serious for a moment. Thanks for all you've done for us. You have done us all a great service by teaching us about EVERYTHING.
So the astronaut dressed up like an astronaut so no one would know he was an astronaut, nice
seriously though. listening to chris talk makes me realise that the man's a genius. he's just spouting out all this knowledge entirely nonchalant and its blowing my mind. Hats off
Imagine the folks that took pictures with, who they thought could be Adam, but not having any inkling that an actual astronaut was in one of the suits!
acs197 auto cucumber
I mean autocorrect?
I absolutely love how Chris is so quick to learn. He immediately understood when the cooling system was working, adjusted how he was entering the suit, and fully comprehended just everything that Jamie was doing. I wish more people were as observant and intelligent as this man. The world would be a better place.
Adam, not Jamie.
Wait they're just wearing Uggs as boots!
Salty Lemon no they're not
Salty Lemon no that is advanced space boots what are u talking about
they should have been wearing some deadass timbs
As a sci-fi writer, this has actually provided a LOT of insight into how to write realistic spacesuit functions. Hadfield just casually mentioning they they used to put food in suits but stopped can easily lead me to writing scenes where a character is grumpy about lack of snacks
gotta love how much of a nice guy chris hadfield is
Amazing seeing two men who brings so much inspirations together in such a easygoing fashion. Best video I've watched in a long long time on the tube.
Tested
Cool, the only thing you're missing ......... inter-suit comms!
James Lamb lol that's exactly what I was thinking.
I could watch video of these two guys talking together for hours. Chris Hadfield being super cool and telling all those cool stories, while seeing Adam with his super admiration towards him.
now that's a damn good knife right there.
Every time I watch one of these videos I smile. Like full grin five year old getting candy smile. These videos really show that magic never dies even when you become an adult.
I love the elevator scenes. That's probably my favorite part of all these things.
Holy bob, this is the coolest thing I have ever seen. Adam Savage, Chris Hadfield, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. I am in heaven.
I really wanted to hear "Open the pod bay doors, HAL" just before the elevator doors opened...
“I’m going to run into more aliens”
Hold up
They walked around with their lunch just to come back and eat it
cause its part of the costume
What adam's face for the few seconds after 2:40 ... that is the face of a nerd in PURE paradise. bless him.
When adam is showing what he did off you can see chris just keeps thinking: "How much did this guy do?"
Chris Hadfield is badass. He made astronauts famous again. His work on social media from the space station was a game changer. Astronaut, scientist, leader, educator... hes the quintessential role model.
When the video started, my first thought was "Too bad Andy Weir isn't joining them, that would really blow my mind".
Cue 11:34.
Mind blown.
Wow. You must've been honored. Not only to have him help out, but doing a pre-spacewalk checklist with Chris Hadfield is so awesome!
Dude.... I fucking saw you both!!! And I never knew..... I could have met Chris!!! Are you fucking kidding me?!!!!!!!!! Arrgggghhhhhhhhhhhh
That is the best interview with an astronaut I have ever seen, the little details that otherwise never come up :-)
Chris: *looks off into the distance* we call this the Kadabra zipper
Adam: *totally ignores what Chris said*
😂😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀 I honestly died
Chris is such a pro. Understands stuff instantly and copies stuff with a short " ok". Always in control.
"What do you do for CO2 buildup?"
Classic astronaut humor.
Being addicted to audible while at work i have listened to both adam savage's "every tool's a hammer" and chris hadfield's "an austronaut's guide to life on earth". Its neat to see them together as i admire them both so greatly.
This has got to be one of the most EPIC experiences ever!
I love Chris Hadfield! What an awesome experience this must have been! This is now one of my favourite videos on RUclips.
Chris Hadfield is such a cool cat. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed this a lot.
Easily the best Adam Incognito ever. If I'd been there, I don't know who I'd have been more excited to meet, Adam or Col. Hadfield.
Imagine going to Comic-Con and seeing Adam Savage cosplaying as an astronaut, with an astronaut.
How can you not like Adam Savage, his enthusiasm is infective!
I'm sorry, but did he say MORE aliens at @3:54 , CONSPIRACY haha
*X-Files theme starts playing*
Adam Savage is so happy to be doing this with Chris Hadfield. You can see it. Awesome episode!
measure twice cut once...
Empty your mind. Focus on the task at hand.
You are only human.
I had to go back and rewatch Space Oddity. I don't know what I do if I met Adam and Col. Hadfield in one crack. Two of my biggest inspirations!
This is cool on so many levels! The only thing that could take this up a notch would be if they had Guillermo Del Toro dressed as Stanley Kubrick with a camera beside them :)
Awesome video
and the fact he’s a REAL
Astronaut made it
Fantastic
Notice he said I'm going to see MORE aliens. Hmmmmm ;)
Col. Hadfield is a rockstar! I don't say that to bemoan the fact that he is not as famous as he should be (if only our scientists had as much recognition as pop stars!) but he actually has a suave coolness about him that is palpable through a RUclips video. Good stuff!
opening ad was on a masterclass about space exploration... coincidence? I THINK NOT.
7:09 "This would be a lot easier in zero G." "NO."
8:01 Even for a costume, he takes it seriously. He also seems to have excellent communication, which you would need to be an astronaut.
8:35 So accurate. Improvising is half of cosplay. Super smart to use the sharpie.
The man is a true pro and an absolute legend
Chris is such an awesome dude! :D "In some cultures we'd be married now" haha!
Is there nothing Mr.Chris can't do. What an amazing human being..💜
Mr Hadfield is such a nice guy.
i had to bring thus up.chris hadfield is the most awesome person ever he's really inspired me and I really want to be an astronaut. thanks chris
