The reason that theres a big ocean underneath the Map is that a lot of games have one singular water plain underneath the map and whenever they need lakes or rivers they simply stretch that surface up so that they dont need to have multiple physics simulations running at once.

The map wasn’t glitching at the end. You were simply hitting loading points for Guarma. The game unloads the main map and loads in Guarma for Chapter 5. If you wondered around a bit more you would’ve found out that the whole island is there and it’s solid ground you can walk on, this is because the entire island of Guarma was planned to be a playable map but due to time constraints Chapter 5 was significantly cut back, you would’ve found the main Guarma area you play in on the west coast of the island. It’s truly fascinating that this entire island is there outside the map

The reason there is so much land outside the map is because the devs don't want you to see the edge of the map. Like if you go to the tallest mountains in the game, you can see these areas, plus they want you to think the map is even bigger than it is.

    • @CornFlex420
      @CornFlex420 2 года назад +31

Many open-world games, and to my knowledge all Rockstar ones, have an ocean under the map that drags on forever. It's there in San Andreas, and there would be no reason for it not to be there in RDR2. It doesn't prove anything, it's just that you will see ocean wherever land ends and Rockstar didn't ever need a tool to create infinite land in any of their games, thus they don't have infinite land but they do have infinite water because they needed that for GTA.
The reason for having ocean everywhere is that it makes everything easier for the devs. They don't have to hide the seams anywhere on the actual ocean of the map, and they have a decent point of reference for how high up any specific part of land should be.

There is a cool way to go outside the map: in the Big Valley there is a little cave (there lives a crazy hermit too), go inside until you reach a dead end with a large hole- drink moonshine until you pass out- boom you are spawning outside the map. I did this to get John to Guarma and let me tell you it took me many hours to get there XD you can actually ride with a horse if you find one (animals outside do absolutly nothing, they just stand there even wolfs and such 😂) and you can go pretty far outside until you reach blurry land.
9:10 this is probably part of Guarma Map.

3:03 tbh, it's the other way around. In these open world games the water level is set first, so basically the ocan is created first. Then they build the land on top or even below that. I've got some insight in this topic of game creating, since I used to be a modder for TES4: Oblivion back in the days, creating entire new questlines and continents as well.

If Adichu only opened the map at the end, he would've realised he was at Guarma.
Basically, at the end of Chapter 4, in the transition cutscene (on the boat) you get taken past the loading trigger for Guarma. The trigger swaps out the normal pause-menu map for the Guarma map, de-loads the normal map so you can't see it in Chapter 5, and loads up Guarma. Then it's just a matter of putting the player where you need to be for the mission. The loading trigger is just very far south of Saint Denis and since you're not meant to be that far south in normal gameplay it doesn't get removed at any point. So you could go back to Guarma at any point with glitches. If you go early (before Chapter 5) there's no sniper but after the mission 'A Kind and Benevolent Despot' the sniper is permanent.

San Andreas Island in Gta 5 is a Pacific Island map stand alone. This video confirms that we could be looking at a merging of these places in Rockstar 6. 100 years later; because why didn't they kill code?, and the map fits perfectly on theme with the united states.

Well I assume rockstar would of thought of California since all of the dialogue but I don't think they would of put it in the game its just the edge of the map so you you don't see just ocean

If the map was going to be a bit bigger, it would simply be an addition of Mexico. Hell, even New Austin was a stretch for Rockstar, as it was added in late In development to satisfy fans after the initial teasers/trailers.
All the terrain that surrounds the map is just randomly generated (maybe except for this weird little bay on the eastern edge? Also, there's a lake/river source that's a remnant of beta development just beyond NH's nothern edge). It's low poly because the player is really only supposed to see it from an extreme distance. If something was actually planned, you would have a lot more flat areas, cliffs, river beds, general signs of a more artificially molded terrain.
The only piece of terrain that actually fits this description is the ENTIRE island of Guarma. I believe early in development, you were supposed to have more access to Guarma, and there would be a lot more locations. However something must've happened and now the main area is only the northwestern/west coast.
If you want a really good in-depth series of RDR2 out-of-bounds exploration, I highly recommend checking out Basement Gamer Bros.

I went out of bounds there and I saw a red dot on my map. I went to it and it was a grey cougar, which is odd because there are no grey cougars in the game. It also had reddish eyes. I’m being deadass. It was like 4 am in the game

7:59 - since you have access to mods you probably can brake that invisible barrier, since Shesez, i think it's him, made a video where he went all the way to the end of the ocean / horizon and the skybox turned bright white, you can't see nothing more besides white and the mini - map, by that point you can only move the cursor, the player just gets stuck there.
The thing is that he made that part of the clip so fast that made me want to see more.

I don’t think the devs consciously added oceans around the outside of the map per se, it’s pretty common practice for game engines to use an “ocean level” or “water level” which acts as the minimum height that the ocean will exist at. It’s basically a flat plane that stretches on for infinity in all directions
However I find the East “out of the map” side to be the most interesting, they seem to have designed a massive coastline that would have otherwise never been seen by the player in normal gameplay. It does make me wonder, was the map originally intended to be larger and include this eastern coastline? I’ve been doing level design as a hobby since I was a kid and designing detailed geometry on such a scale isn’t something that gets done for no reason, I’ve explored that area a few times and I’ve always gotten the impression that it was originally intended to be used at some point during the map dev process, and then had the geometry/textures later on. Possibly cut due to resource constraints seeing how massive the map already is? Just some speculation

same thing the actually doesn’t make a lot of sense because in the 1800s New Orleans (which is what Saint Denis is based off of) looked almost identical to Saint Denis it was only litter on where they expanded to the other side of the Mississippi River, and New Orleans is not on the edge of an ocean. It’s surrounding a river like in red dead redemption so if you cross the river of Saint Denis, there’s more land like in real life so that does make sense.

but dont be Surprised if you see a 18th Century Los Santos in there Red Dead & GTA maybe LA Noire are all Connected somehow
