I am a hotshot Starting Company and I am actually waiting for my CDL A and have a Dump PJ Trailer which i take immediately and dump for $650, I don ‘t drop it off, I wait for it! I do 3 dumps for the day, if the place to dump is far, I charge more. Never have seen yours here in California! Sounds great~. Beverly Hills, Calabasas etc areas don’t allow drop off so there is a business for my Style of dumping :)
Realisticlly, the cost to get even started has to be near 100k for just a “side huddle” job. The trailer, dumpster, truck to haul it a 2500, with a gooseneck hookup, gasoline to stay on the road. Our local dump also competes just gotta wait longer to get your dumpster but their rates are so cheap that people around here will wait 6 to 8 weeks to pay less. So, you got really lucky to start up by prolly starting before Covid and charging post Covid lol

Such a big difference between an American dump and one in the Netherlands. Where you can just unload it in one go we really need to sort everything on different piles seperating al the materials.

Amazing! Though, kinda sucks for me and sitting in the 500s for credit. So, no getting approved for loans or credit cards unless I get a high interest. With a low amount I can spend typically $500-$600. Will continue to watch though till something opens. Mainly buying rental property I think? But yeah we will see. I see you go to Republic for dumping. What is their Gate rate per ton? Do they charge you extra for tires and AC units, mattresses? Why would you prefer a truck with a trailer vs a Hook lift or a Roll Off?
I’ve got a couple questions I was going to jump into this with a partner but I think it might be more profitable by-myself since I’m the one with the truck. No one in my town has thought of this so I want to be the first so my questions are did you just gamble and go for it or did you ask people around town if they would want a dump trailer almost like advertising it on Facebook or something? How much do you usually pay for a dump? Where I’m at it’s about 200 maybe a little more so is it work the profit? Thank you
Those are all good questions and we will probably make a video addressing them in more detail. But to answer for Clayton on some of your questions, he just took a leap of faith and bought the trailer and dumpster. He saw another guy doing it so knew there was some demand. I think you’ll be shocked once your start how much demand there is. What is the population in your area? We will answer your other questions in the next video.
It can be, but you have to run the numbers for your area. It was for me, but I put it all back in the business. I'm actually loading a video about this now
@@kylegrimm No, but I had a CDL when I was younger so I noticed that he probably had a CDL when I saw his truck and trailer. Then I checked to see if it was required to do this business and sure enough, it was.
If your total combined weight of truck and trailer exceed 26k lbs you better have a CDL, a set up like in the video with a full 20 yard can will exceed the weight limit. Don't find out the hard way when state/DOT police pull you over.
Where are people storing the trailer and bins when not in use? Obviously not ideal to have them sit in a place that is not being charged, but if you only have a couple bins and one roll off dumpster, what are people paying to rent that commercial/industrial spot if you don’t have a hookup somewhere somehow

Actually for my setup yes, not a dumb question. With my truck my GVWR is 28k lbs. But with a regular 3500, or 2500 you should be ok in most states. I bought a "cab and chasis" dodge 3500, they pull more and it just barley put me over into the CDL category.
Drive around. Everyone and their brother is involved in the dumpster business at this point. There are tons of them around towns. Biggest thing would be to see what the competitors is in your area and if there's space to grow

Yes, I actually have 2 trucks now. A 2500 I use as a backup and a dodge 3500 high output for the daily stuff. Makes a massive difference

I was a mortgage lender, Schedule was flexible. But I have since transitioned to full time dumpsters, part time mortgages

You don't need a CDL for this business. As long as trailer and truck under 26,000lbs

Make sure your bins and trailers advertise your business well (website, phone number etc.) and find somewhere safe and prominent to store them.
