    HE LIVES !!! I was actually worried that we would never see another Mikko Okkonen lure-making video. Since I consider each one to be a valuable gift, that was an awful thought. As always, this prototype is beautifully crafted, start to finish. And, you have provided us with more than usual detailed explanations of your techniques. Thank you for that.
    As for the action of the BAIT (like you I see nothing wrong with this term), I agree with you that it needs further development. And like you, I was surprised that the hinged tail didn't perform more like the paddletail on a one-piece soft-plastic swimbait. But, that's why they're called prototypes! PLEASE keep up the great work.

    Love your videos , gives me ideas on baits to make
    LOL I just got done hand pouring custom plastic Paddle tail baits
    But mine were from a mold I made
    A 5" long paddle tail lure with a short length belly 2" deep
    I put a 1/2 oz of lead on a home made wire hook harness
    So I can hang a single treble hook behind the belly from the wire hook harness
    I put the treble hook on so I can stick a hook into the tail before the paddle tail

      I actually tried it and it does not work for lure type such as this. If the tail section was not so tall i think it could work with just one hinge connection. With my lure cos of the height the tail section gets stuck so i ended up using 2 connections.

    Teckel has the silicone tails you can put on their frogs. I bet if you mad a larger version of that, it could make the tail really pop!! Or, doing a much thinner version of the the tail you currently have. As always a great vid, I always learn a ton from watching your process!! Now to learn how to carve like you😳!! What a gift!!

    15 hours? It would take me 15 days…per side. It’s remarkable looking. I can give you a hint about the tail because I have done similar. Don’t go straight up and down. Tilt it some. When you see the soft plastics the tail hangs down like you have it, but when they start running the tail goes out on an angle…..almost to horizontal. You need to reproduce the running angle. Check out the commercially available Rapala Weedless Shad. It’s a hard bait like this….used for pike.

  • @lureblanks
    @lureblanks 2 года назад

    Great video, beautiful paintjob too! What happens if you would attach the tail with only one skrew with little larger eyes, giving it more freedom to move? Maybe that would give better results? And maybe make the tail a little bigger, little out of proportion. And make the tail a little flatter so it gives more resistance in the water. Would love to see you work more on this kind of lure. I like the idea!

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  2 года назад

      I did think about it. I think because the tail floats it would not work well in a single screweye connection cos it wants to move up when the lure is sinking.

    • @lureblanks
      @lureblanks 2 года назад

      @@SolarfallBaits Aah true, you could put some weight in the tip of the tail to drag it down a little and force it to take on the water resistance, this will also force it a little in place but it would have more room to "dance" ?

      @SolarfallBaits  2 года назад
