- The songs Chartered Trips and Sunshine Superman, as performed by Husker Du on December 16, 1983 at Love Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
this is the only show where i have seen grant play his hi-hats
Husker Du was the best '80s band.
At the beginning of the clip, Grant Hart is like, "Wut? WUT? Oh, Chartered Trips..."
It'd be nice if time machines existed. I would go to this show.
Every time I remember there will be no Hüskers reunion anymore I feel like crying 😕
After seeing this footage (for ever all I'd seen was 8 miles high)...I think I would have been disappointed . This is amazing.
It could still happen... Dave Grohl on the cans.....
I'll be seeing Greg and the rest of Ultrabomb Saturday in Chicago. Not the same, but I'll effin take it... plus Ultrabomb is /good/.
How he can play drums so aggressive and sing is just amazing
thats Grant for ya
All while being a smoker. Grant had the lungs of Zeus.
I was at this show and FN proud of it!
you are exactly right. i just relistened to this album last week and thought to myself, hey this is probably the first emo album ever. but i'd need to research that. and it doesn't change my opinion of the album, have always been a huge fan.
If I could choose to be anywhere within the past 50 years, it would be at this concert.
Timeless angst. Perfect.
Nothing's ever solved.
you lucky lucky boy!! i envy you man!! all i can hope for is a reunion!!
f*cking awesome man wish i was there id have gone nuts!!!!!
thx for posting ur da man!!
sick!!!!!!!!
First of all sweet vintage Gibson V ... I like the way he played his thumb over like Hendrix did, he must have been a huge Hendrix fan ...
12 years late, but that’s actually an Ibanez Flying V
@easysubculture Actually I think this guy's got it right. As much as you hardcore purists may not want to admit it, I think many early "emo" band may have been taking cues from the Huskers.
Oh, of course
100% the hated were husker clones and they are cited as one of the first emo bands. I’m sure the dischord bands were definitely into husker, you can hear flanger on guitars of embrace and rites of spring
@@jamesdoctor8079 110% chance that Guy/Rites of Spring were into Huskers. The way he threw himself into it reminds me of Bob too
AWESOME!
Check the "8 Miles High" clip. FUUUUUCCCCCKKK!!!
fantastic clips- never seen this show before, need to see more if you have it. glad i went surfing tonight...
the birth of E M O
The band would vomit and/or not know what yer talking about
great footage. if only the audio was better..
This is pretty great considering when it was recorded. Camcorders weren't built for this.
No complaints here.
It sounds really really great
Then on afterwards, hardcore will forever draw from their very own practice
Jesus don't pin that shit on them.
Many of those ex-moshers are now in wheelchairs. Oh well.
These Love Hall shows could get intense... I'm not sure if any clips are on RUclips, but during Minor Threat's gig there in '83, kids were flying off the balcony into the audience below en masse
