Hayabusa was always ahead of its time and it still is. When you compare a recent Bike with the Busa (a much older production) it says everything what lovely Busa is.❤❤

As a motorcycle mechanic, give me the Hayabusa any day to service and tune !! The ZX14 is an absolute nightmare to work on, and a whole lot more time consuming and therefore more expensive....!!
The design of the frame around the Suzuki engine makes for easy access to plugs and removing cylinder head cover for valve inspection... on the ZX14 (and GTR14) the single spar frame goes over the top of the motor, on,y leaving you a few inches to get your hands into measure and adjust valve clearances... the ZX14 is an absolute nightmare to work on and I generally refuse to work on them...
The Hayabusa fairings, left and right side, can be removed in 15 minutes or less, but the ZX14 ??!! All I can say is good luck !!
The Hayabusa has 3 fairings to remove, the rear under carriage, and two side fairings, that's all...
I can't remember how many pieces of fairing have to be removed on the 14 !! Last week I serviced a 2010 ZX6R, and it had no less than 14 pieces of fairing that all had to be removed in order to measure the valve clearances... !! A mechanics nightmare when reassembling....
I've worked on thousands of motorcycles over the last 40 years, I spent several years on the spanners at a Kawasaki dealership, and have never had so many new bike warranties in all my life...!! Kawasaki's are made to a price, not a standard, they use cheap plastics and paint, engineering practices are questionable to say the least, where as the Suzuki counterpart, are well engineered (as are most Suzuki), and are just about bullet proof in my opinion...
The Hayabusa is a 'Cult' bike, and for a very good reason, I wonder if same can be said for the ZX14 ?
I have to admit one thing though, the Hayabusa needs an upgrade, new shape, new design, let's hope that Suzuki does it justice when they finally do... !!

Thank you so much for giving an opinion through a mechanics eyes and experience. That’s one area where no matter how many videos you watch and study a particular bike it takes someone who has dealt with something as common as maintenance on these bikes to give his or her perspective and it’s priceless.

You are exactly right! I love both machines, but when I got my Hayabusa, I was very impressed at the way the factory engineered everything for function and accessibility. A lot of guys are hoping for upgrades in years to come, but I actually appreciate the more simplistic nature of the Hayabusa. I appreciate you bringing up this point, because it's something a lot of people overlook. Absolutely nothing against Kawasaki though. I've been a Kawasaki guy my whole life, from my KZ1000's to my ZRX 1200. I believe it's really just a matter of finding what suits you as a rider, and going with what works. When it comes to all four of the Japanese companies, It's really kind of hard to find a bad motorcycle.

If I was in the market for one of these bikes I would opt for the Suzuki. Why? Pretty simple. The people from India take pride in their work. I was glad to find out that Suzuki opened an assembly facility there. I have never met someone from India that I didn't like. Always respectful. Always polite. Buying a product made or assembled in India helps the Indian economy and generates jobs there. And no. Im not Indian. Great review. Thank you gentlemen! Best of luck to both of you with your channel. Thumbs up and subscribed for life.

Your analysis is very relevant: these two motorcycles are fantastic, the ZX14R is more recent with a slightly bigger engine but it appears that (at least in India) its price is much higher so the Hayabusa price is significantly more competitive. I possessed two Hayabusa (between 2000 and 2012) and I am aware very well of the qualities of the Hayabusa. Finally, if I have to choose now (2020) between these two bikes and taking into account the significant difference of price between these two bikes I will probably choose again the Hayabusa. Excellent video. Greeting from France to our Indian friends.

It depends on what you as a rider chooses to do with which ever bike you choose. If you're a guy who likes to lean into the corners go with the busa, but if you want the speed and comfortable long distance ride go with the zx14. I have ridden both bikes but I l like the zx14 better because it's not hard on my back 👍😊..but both bikes are awesome!👍

I love the honesty in these guys!
Absolutely everything they said was true and correct!
Whenever anyone is comparing a Hayabusa to anything else modern they need to realise however that the Hayabusa hasn't progressed past ABS as its most recent factory improvement. So in saying that.... comparing anything else to the Hayabusa is like comparing analog to digital.

Great review. I ended up going with a new 2015 ZX14R and couldn't be happier. I came from a Gen 1 busa, but the Kawi won me over. For some reason, the dealer let me have it for $11k brand new! Hayabusa's were closer to $14,500 and without traction control. It seems to be the reverse here where Kawi's are cheaper. Also, I use the traction control constantly. It's nice to not have to be so vigilant with the throttle, especially as the colder months approach.

Nice production and great spirits, guys! I feel like you are my buddies!
BUT, if you tweak the ZX suspension (it comes a bit soft) to your riding style (assume we want better sport riding), it comes to life. I put a nice Brock's header on mine, too, and saved 40 lbs., and it can dice in corners very well.

In stock form the 14r is king but when it comes to aftermarket support and tunability the answer is busa. On the other hand Busa's aesthetics are not for everyone. Whichever you choose though there's no way you're losing, both are amazing motorcycles!

I owned an '07 ZX-14, put 70k miles on it, she was an awesome bike, fast, comfy ergos, power anywhere, but handling wasn't it's strong suit, even the slightest bump would unsettle the chassis in a turn, I'm 6'8" 320lbs, so I could handle it, but it's always in the back of your mind in a corner. I demo rode the 2017 Hayabusa at bike week, for me its pretty much as comfortable at the 14, smooth power 2nd gear pulls like a freight train, the Brembo brakes and ABS are welcome additions and work very well, in the corners it's more planted and the suspension ant chassis aren't upset by bumps. I recommend riding both bikes and figuring out which one works for you.

After owning a Busa for 13 years, and then finally getting a 2020 ZX-14R. As much as I loved the Busa, the ZX-14R was an upgrade. Definitely the Ninja is more refined, smooth and feels like a faster ride.

  • @das1992
    @das1992 5 лет назад +5

ZX14R is a beast. The immense power of the engine and the design of the motorcycle is quite intimidating especially with turning. Nvr ridden either one but pretty relevant isn't it??

Hi Kartikeya, very detailed review. I owned a busa 2008 sold in 2010. Then after a gap of 3 years got a 2011 Mv Agusta F4R..Sold that last year and got a 2015 Yamaha Vmax. Now awaiting what 2017 has to offer..will choose between an updated 2017 Mv Agusta f4rr else a Kawasaki H2 Street. Hoping for the best to come and you guys are doing an awesome job. Cheers..
