I am going to go egg head for a moment. I have rarely heard arranging like this. With Voctave, the layering of chord structures is insane. Kudos to Jamey for putting out some of the best vocal arrangements I have ever heard. The ensemble blending is some of the best you will ever hear, period. Voctave could give masterclasses in ensemble intonation and in how to attack and release notes together, which is one of the most difficult things to do in any musical context. A major thing that makes a group successful and long-lasting is the suppression of individual ego. I am taken aback by how selfless this group of singers is toward each other. It would be easy for each of these very experienced performers to ruin the group dynamic by pushing their own individual talent above the others. There is no hint of this in any of the recordings and videos I have heard. Voctave make ensemble singing look easy which means that they are top notch professionals because there is nothing easy about what these people are doing. Thank you for continuing to put out top notch performances each and every time. You all are why people should go into music.

I have witnessed the power of the human will to live as a cancer survivor and those I have supported. Whether someone is fighting through illness, addiction, divorce, grief of any kind, broken promises and relationships or struggles inflicted by Covid...there is but one emotion even more powerful than love. Hope... At my lowest, I turned to our almighty God and he gave me back my hope again. So I am drawn to music that magnifies this emotion within me. I receive the reminder that as different as we may feel from each other at times, we ARE NOT alone. We just have to reach back to that one person whose offering us the perseverance we need to move forward in this life. ...And as we do, as we are able and stronger...that we offer that same hope to someone coming behind us who does yet not see the beauty from their ashes. I was a professional musician (saxophone) in my early life. On the road with big name band, etc. I DO know music. I have to admit that I literally have tears when I hear you guys sing in absolutely perfect blend and harmony. I know music. But through a horn. How do you do that vocally?!! I'm not the slightest bit depressed or suicidal, but I've lost some loved ones to suicide. As I was listening to this, the thought struck me that if I ever felt like this world wasn't worth it anymore, I'd come and listen to this, and I'd feel hopeful again. What an absolute gift Voctave is. Kicking back and listening to a new piece of Voctave magic on loop is one of life's great pleasures for me.
Covid, we get it... but the entire internet agrees that you all in Voctave need to just put each other inside your quarantine circle and start making music in person together. Especially with Christmas coming! We need it this year!

All of them could be soloists, yet they choose to sing together and sing these amazing arrangements. I true testament to their selfless attitude. They are all stunning and gifted, and the arrangements are pieces of art. They are masters of their craft. In a world where we celebrate mediocracy in the music industry, it is nice to hear true talent stay their course. Absolutely breathtaking, Thank you for doing what you do. Jamey Ray has a gift for arranging. He uses dissonance and maj7 chords like nothing I've ever heard. They bring nice little surprises all thru the piece. Really hard to make them work and really hard to perform them well. These days it's rare to encounter excellence that actually blows you away. This crowd does it all the time. Really fun to watch.
