I know you don’t like the 60s retro Christmas trees but as a child we had a silver tree with red and green ornaments as well as a color wheel that projected different colors onto the tree and I loved it! My sisters and I would lay down on the carpet and just stare at the tree all night. A favorite Christmas memory of mine. Merry Christmas to you, Austin, and sweet Danny!

Wow - I used to lay under our tree as well and gaze up at the lights and ornaments. My mom, sisters and I made one ornament out of a styrofoam ball and about a MILLION multicoloured sequins. I would spin it like a miniature disco ball and admire the sparkly reflective effect. :)

We just keep our tree up all year long 😁😆 we call the front room it’s in “the white room” cause everything’s obviously whites & creams, essentially it’s used as a movie room and its EVERYONES favorite room in the house cause its sooo peaceful. We have the lights on the tree connected to a light switch too 🤭

Some of the retro 70's is ice cycles, drop bulbs, little bulbs that had like star things on the front for middle of the tree. BUBBLE BULBS and twinkle lights multi colors, beaded garland, or tinsel garland, folded paper stars or bells, just a few things. Always, candy cane and chocolate Santas that hung on the tree. Ice Cycles made out of strands of thin long thin tin foils strips called ice cycles. Peace!

a good hack for Christmas tree-skirts is cutting a thick card board into a cone the size of the tree skirt then cut a slit to be able to wrap the card board around the tree add stick on velcro to secure it shut and the skirt on to the card board keeps the skirt in place and it won't wrinkles :)

I would say you have a "retro inspired aclectic" style.
No that silver tree retro style does not fit your house at all. I grew up in the 1970s.. we had a green tree.. but the tree decorations were colourful, fun and we used tinsel and trailing tinsel icicles. I don't know anyone who had those silver tinsel types of trees ..maybe that was "American retro style".. it definitely wasn't used in the UK.
I have a traditional tree.. green tree, gold and red balls and handmade wooden ornaments as the base decor. Then lots of tree decor I have collected on my world travels and some original 1960s and 1970s tree decor my mum gave me when I left home to "start me off" or I was give in the 1970s from my Great Gran. My kids love the travel and old decor. My youngest loves the blush pink swan and gold cat and my oldest loves the gold bird. I love a little 1960s father Christmas. ... oh yeh.. and all the folding paper decorations that are popular this year .. they are also from the 1960s.. I have a 50cm high snowman and 40cm high carol singer from the 1960s.. my kids have them in their bedrooms.
You have to move/remove furniture to make space for the tree. Use a fluffy blanket as a tree skirt .. duel use!
Ps. Why did you make the mantle ON THE WALL?.. it would have been much easier to make it first and then install it on the wall!

I'd call this upscale bo-ho. The vintage ornaments are just right. Here is an idea to use the ornament box for decor: take a photo of the box with the ornaments inside, then attach the photo to the inside of the cover, hang the ornaments as usual, display the boxes together in a basket or other suitable display vehicle, drape some garland, beads, you know how Becky. I really like your use of old light bulbs for ornaments. I may put some in a jar simply for the aesthetic. Idk what you're doing, but Becky, you are looking so lovely. And that husband of yours, Austin, he's the best (all right, he has his moments, but...). Don't get me started on the sweet, beautiful Danny. Those eyes make me all melty. I want to hug him and give him some love. Truly an enjoyable video today. Thanks. Merry Christmas, God Bless 💖😇🌟👼👑🦁🐑🕊✝🙏💖🎄🎁❄🐦🎅🎄💖

I move two tall plant shelves that live in front of a large window for 10.5 months, so the tree can be enjoyed from both the outside as well as our living room. As for the Christmas theme throughout the apartment I don't really have one, but all the decor is gold, royal blue and purple. The decor is a mixture of vintage, thrifted, things from January sales and my mother. We'll be hosting Christmas day for the 3rd time and I'm already stressed, but all the cold drinks make the day go faster in the heat. Just decorate for Christmas and enjoy.

      @teresacarle294 Год назад +1

😉Hide your boxes in plain sight. Make a skirted table in your entryway, hall, behind your sofa, or in some other nook. Depending upon your space, you could go from 29-36" height, 35-84" width, 12-15" depth with your stacked storage boxes📦.
😊 Best if your boxes are uniformly shaped, but you can stack them jinga style to fit a specific spot too. Rectangle bins work better where you place the longer side against the wall. Use a curtain panel, sheet, table cloth, or quilt that suits your decor as a skirt to conceal boxes. Use 🧷 or shipping tape to corral excess fabric discreetly in the back. Top with larger glass/mirror tiles, rattan/woven/stick placemats, table runner, or timber planks (stained &/or painted to match decor). Dress or merchandise top as you would a mantle or console.
📨ps For easy retrieval, number your boxes in marker on one short & long end that can face out. That way you could 👀read them from the front & sides. Create a computer legend or journal detailing contents. Make notes of what you add or remove. Great option for ❄️seasonal or 🎄 holiday gear.

I grew up with my mom's 70's Christmas decorations. She was married in 1972. She told me her tree was all gold. She had a sparse-style fake tree. All gold lights with a really cool faceted cover on them. Satin thread-wrapped balls. Later, she added a red satin ball and bows to the gold ornaments when my dad grew tired of the monochromatic tree. It was simple but really pretty.

Oh gosh Becky, I feel like you captured a lot of good vibes, I grew up with a lot of 70's things, and our Christmas tree had glass ornaments that had cool shapes and great colors, we also had ice cicles that my mom and I would put on the branches every year, we also had garlands that were made out of beads that wrapped around the tree. I still have a lot of those older ornaments and I also gave my daughter and son in law and grand kids some of the older ornaments because I wanted my daughter to enjoy those ornaments that were her grandparents. I also remember that the tree skirt that my parents had was made from felt and had some decor onround it that my mom made from beads and sequens I still have those they are just no longer attatched to the tree skirt that wore out. Thanks for a really fun video that I loved watching, Merry Christmas to you, Austin and cute Danny, stay safe and happy, sending love and hugs, bye!! 🥰💚🌺❄☃🎄

    YOU are "Organic Retro".
Having been a totally alive-to-style teen in the 60's (12 in 1964 - Beatles, yeah, 1967, 1968 (civil unrest, police at Dem convention, Vietnam War protests, 1969 Summer of Love).
I NEVER liked the 60's styling -- tthe neon colors, the plastic, the aluminum trees, the hot pink, cyan, cheap-looking stuff, even flamingoes bugged me).
Your love of certain plaids TOTALLY reminds me of the bell-line skirts my mom made me out of synthetic, bright-hued tartans and plaids. Checkered-plaids, very much. Dark grounded fabric w tiny posies of flowers like tiny forget-me-nots all over it. Purple patent leather orthopedic "old-lady" shoes w 2-1/2" chunky heels -- my signature, Danskin tights of EVERY COLOR. Merged into...carried over + into...
The 70's. "Norwegian Wood" vibe. Chestnut brown suede, olive green suede, oatmeal toned ceramic dishware, anything suede.
Birch plywood, brass from India, engraved, big bangley earrings, all kinds of jewelry from India, World Market anything.
The smell of carved wood furniture from the Balkans + the Middle East, sheepskin coats, goatskin coats (they STANK) imported, everything imported.
    Embroidered chambray shirts, skirts, dresses,
Aussie sheep- + goatherder hats + dusters. Real blue jeans, Woody Guthrie, Jefferson Airplane. THAT was all my style.

Here in The Netherlands 🇳🇱 we didn't really sell fake Christmas trees in the 60s/70s. My Parents (b.1931/b.1933) always had a real tree. "Our" Christmas decoration style slowly chanded over their 50+ year marriage. As a small child, in 1976, I still remember we had real Christmas candles in our real tree (with my Dad and and a bucket of sand next to it - if the tree should accidentally go up in flames!!).
That was, till real trees (even tiny ones) got sooo expensive, at the end of the 80s. So that's when we invested in a, German bought, small fake one in 1989. Which served my elderly Parents till they both passed away in 2019. I still have some of their most cherished real glass tree ornaments from the 60s, that I display (I don't have a Christmas tree: because of storage room issues). Decorating Christmas trees is such a personal thing: when it comes to the style choice. ✌🏻☺️🇳🇱
