Me: singing in the room, my voice are so stable and amazing for me but when im singing in public, my voice became shaky... And also my voice become unstable and not in sync when i try singing with microphone..... I just can sing without mic and people watching..
I have absolutely nooooo confidence on stage whatsoever and I really really need to work on that because it is keeping me from moving forward and being happy with my performances. I found your three points (and especially the second one) really really helpful ! I have a gig in two weeks, I'll be thinking about your video and I am confident to see some changes. Thank you so much ! Greetings from France :-)
+missaysa Envoi de mon amour à la France! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with me! I feel that half of the battle with performing live on stage is the feeling that you BELONG there. You do not need to gain anyones validation for being the amazing singer that you know you are on the inside. So when you take that stage in the next week or so, turn your awareness away from you and into the audience. Share your story with them, and have the most honest experience that you can. Let that experience on stage, be validation enough. Think about nothing else...not.."I hope THEY like me" or "I hope I don't mess up" or anything like that. Those thoughts just turn your energy right back around on yourself and can sabotage your experience. What I truly want for you is to anchor that sublime feeling that comes from KNOWING you felt every word of your song. And the freedom that follows from not needing anyone's approval. Bonne chance mon ami! Shine your light! Lots of love to you!
Thank you, Madeleine. This helped me because I am very confident when I sing alone but with an audience, I get a little shaky. This will help me with my solo tonight.
I have a way to fix this voice problem by quoting Suga: "If you feel like you're going to crash, then accelerate you idiot!" What I mean is, it kinda goes with what you're saying. Basically, if your voice starts to waver, try to push out your voice more, namsayn? I have no idea how to explain but I hope you understand what I mean ^-^
This was probably the best singing tutorial I have ever seen. You can truly hear the confidence in her voice when speaking about the subject or potatoes. Thank you!
+Madeleine Harvey IT WENT AMAZINGLY WELL!!!! And I did what you said with my arms and talking out loud and when I sang it just came out so effortlessly. And I have never been more proud of myself!!!!!!!
+Chuefeng Yang Great job! Thank you for letting me know how it went. I visited your channel this morning. Your love for music is very clear. So much joy in the way you share it. Keep on singing! :)
To be honest, this helped me a lot. And you've really helped me to find my voice just through your videos. Thanks a lot for posting them. I could only imagine where I'd be if I took lessons with you.
The first two tips are great. As far as singing goes though your last tip won't work for some of us when the worry is not focused on ourselves but more of a "they will hate me and what if I screw up" - focusing on the audience doesn't actually help. There needs to be a way to stop the fight-flight mode from causing full-fledged panic because that's what some of us are up against. I don't have near the fear public speaking that I do when singing.... as long as I'm speaking about something i believe in and feel people need to know and as long as the audience came to hear what I've come to speak about. But music feels different... I think it's better to get lost in the song in those cases and not attend to anything but the song and music - not me, not the audience - just sharing the music.
Last school year we had an open mic during a mini after-school event where all the clubs sold food and goodies. The open mic was where anybody could sing for every guest there for fun. And I summoned my courage and did it. I was very shaky but once I focused my attention on one of the trees in the courtyard the event was at, I was feeling a lot better. I was able to sing the song with more meaning and my shaky voice went away. They do this event every year, and since that was sophomore year, I still get to do this again twice. And that was all BEFORE I discovered this video! So um, good luck to all you stage frighters. I was just like you and I was able to conquer that fear at last.
Am really excited to have found you! Have an upcoming audition and I have serious nerve issues. I've never performed in front a crowd...precisely because of that. Glad yo see you reply comments. Your videos are helpful...
Break a leg at your audition! You will do great! Try not to concern yourself with what the auditors might be thinking...just go out, and present the very best you that you can! Here's a video that I recently did specific to auditioning..I hope it helps you relax so that you can present your most authentic self! Go get 'em tiger!!! ruclips.net/video/a6JoFrSnFmQ/видео.html
Thank you very much it did help a lot I was a very bold and confident person till I got to the first grade when I started to think what others will think about inverting my open attitude to a good extent but I got a little stable in 7-8th.thanks again this really helped me reflect
My voice only starts to shake half way through singing a song I front of someone. Never by myself I just get super nervous, I’ll try these tips thank you!
Your passion regarding potatoes has motivated me to soon give a presentation regarding potatoes, I hope it brings about a Potato Revolution such as has never been from the beginning of this world
I have a few short audios on my channel...I think they would sound much better if I learned my pitch and develop a better listening ear!! Maybe you could listen to at least one and tell me where I am lacking skill and how to become better!! Thanks so much!! :)
Omg this helps so much! I have a performance on monday AND tuesday and when i sing in front of big crowds my voice tends to wobble and crack from nervousness. I hope that meaning what i say and exhaling will help, i feel like i am the only one with this problem?
I sang in front of a ton of people at my mom's wedding. I kept missing lyrics because I didn't know if they were the right ones or not. But it was all good at the end. I was automatically put into the DJ's Talent Show that he hosts every year. I also got a ton of compliments from people and I even had a lady who would sponsor me if I ever went onto a American Idol, The Voice, or America's Got Talent. But if I go on those shows... I need to become less anxious while singing in front of people.
the thing is right, i’m not actually nervous like mentally but my body is. like my heart will be beating out my chest. and i can’t sing properly like higher notes will crack, or be off key a bit. but i’m not sitting there like i don’t want to do this i want to, but i can’t control my heart...😑😑i want to be a singer so i literally have to fix this. ❤️❤️
When I’m nervous my voice has a tendency to shake mostly when I have to sing in front of a big group of people and well in a week I have a performance with my dad and I really think this is gonna help thank you!
Thank you for this video! I am trying out for my highschool’s talent show tomorrow, and it’s super competitive. I feel a lot better after watching this video and I’m ready to crush it!! Thanks so much!!❤️❤️
+Mannat Bhardwaj Duets are great! It's a wonderful way to gain performance experience with the support of someone else on the stage with you. I find it takes a lot of the pressure off, and gives me someone to direct all my focus to on stage. Break a leg! You'll do great!
Good evening sweetheart how are you sweetheart I miss u sweetheart you are same rose flowers really I love you more All my love today only u take care always God bless you have nice day sweetheart
*"are you worried about potatoes?"* My fav part 😂 This is going to help me a lot because I have a solo and duet on Wednesday 😥 I'll be fine. The weird thing is, I always chatter and talk and I'm basically the loud chattery perosn but in singing it's the opposite, I get nervous and care what people think.
I just love, love, love all of your videos. Everything you do is just great...easy to understand, easy to implement....super useful...thank you sooooo much!
I have to decide in two days if I want to tryout for a choirs event and I don't want to look stupid in front of my classmates this helped some!! Thanks you
Thank you so much, your tips are helping a lot! I was looking for some videos to pratice my voice more and improve it for the better! Your videos are amazing ! The first time i sang in front of a lot of people at school, fear won me over despite we got repetitions before I was short of breath and couldn't sing for a few second and it's still happening even if it was 2 years ago. I thought it was maybe because I had to work on breathing since I have respiratory issues but nervousness has a big part in singing and I had no idea about that. I'm still struggling with that and my voice is still shaking time to time but I'll work harder! I'm subscribing to your channel because your videos are a very big help and it's very motivating, thank you so much :) 💞
Madeleine Harvey, this is my first time viewing one of your videos. You are very entertaining while still being very informative! I had years of voice lessons and choir experience and my bf didn't, but he has been in many groups and us an amazing musician. He has recently been asking me for my help to learn things like theory, how to expand his range, and other things that he had taught himself to do rather than learning in a more structured , traditional way. I think I'm actually going to show him some of your stuff to him to help him get excited about. #SAVETHETATERS!!
There's no chemical difference in the brain between nervousness and excitedness. It's just how you label it and what you tell yourself that makes a difference.
These tips should help me, but it's easier said than done... I've been practicing for weeks to sing the national anthem at my high school graduation, and I can't help but feel nervous... I'm performing in front of 6,000 people... I'm going to try to get myself to relax as best I can, and try out these tips! I hope they work! XD
Wow..That's great! Actually, this is my problem when I'm singing in the public...my voice is shaking and I don't know...what to do or to overcome the *nervous* but finally I found this video...Singing *tips* Thank You!
HI Tiffany! Thank you for your question...Vulnerability comes from surrender. When we surrender, we let go, we open ourselves up, we allow ourselves to have the experience and we accept the possibility that we could fail..and that's ok. This is a very powerful place because it brings you back to yourself. In singing, the sound is the effect...not the cause. The cause is the emotion..everything else with voice happens as a result of the way that we feel. Vulnerability is like saying...the feeling is more important than the doing...because I can't have one without the other. It's one thing to execute a song...it's quite another to communicate the song straight from the heart. So give yourself some space to feel when you sing. Feel your feelings like a wave...let them come and go and let your singing ride those waves. I really hope this has helped! I look forward to hearing you sing!
Ok. Thank you for all the videos. Checking all of them and subscribed. Thank you for those amazing tips. When it comes to singing, I have a good voice, but i also have all those problems you made a video for. So, big help for me ^^
Thanks for the tips. I've watching a couple of your videos and I could release the voice i was wondering for. NOW I could sing with power and express it with much confidence like Adrian Barilari a great singer at rock style. Thanks Madeleine
I have been hardcore watching your videos these past few days in preparation for an audition tomorrow. Im hoping that I’m able to actually take your advice lol. Wish me luck!
This was a really great video. I was struggling with feeling a bit on edge before recording vocals. These techniques and suggestions are helpful. Thank you.
I have horrible stage fright! Doesn’t help my voice is not all that great and I’m singing alone this Sunday. But this really does makes sense. Hopefully I can apply it! Ha! Thanks!
I’ve just come out of a small practice recording studio and tried singing for my family cause they wanted to record it but they seemed annoyed cause I was too nervous. When they left it was only my brother and I and I was less nervous and when I sang a song I wrote he said he believes I’ll become known but the problem for me is being nervous! I’ve even tried singing in my audition for my school’s talent show but I was requested to not sing by one of the judges cause I was too nervous :( I hope this helps and I can finally sing my heart out without holding back ❤️

Madeleine Harvey, this is my first time viewing one of your videos. You are very entertaining while still being very informative! I had years of voice lessons and choir experience and my bf didn't, but he has been in many groups and us an amazing musician. I’ve even tried singing in my audition for my school’s talent show but I was requested to not sing by one of the judges cause I was too nervous :( I hope this helps and I can finally sing my heart out without holding back ❤️
Thank you because i started gain some confidence😊😊
She sounds like a news reporter, I love her voice!
