THANK YOU!!! I have been singing for 20 years. Rock and metal. This technique has just opened a door I could never find. WOW! I can sing notes inaccessible before today INSTANTLY! Love you!!!!!!!
there was this judges come to my school and they were looking for singer in our school,I decided to join(not alot of people join that's why) I sang "James Arthur-Say you won't let go"after I was done singing, the judges says "You can sing, but you need to improve your projection"That's how im endup here
I've never used this technique before today, it works. While i use many techniques to keep my voice healthy, this will become a daily ritual. Thank you, you are the best:)
You can be a stand up comedian, or an actor, or a host of some reality show, and you will still have my undivided attention. Thank you for this video. :-)
thank you for this. I speak in a very laid-back way, with my voice falling into my throat, in a lower range, that's why I think it's harder for me to project my voice well, I should speak with a more projected voice
when i was younger i was kidda bullied and has no friends so I rare spoke. i almost didnt used my voice for like 5 years. So now i had problems with speaking loud like i dont even how to manage my voice 😩 i'll try your tips! thanks!
Butterfly Kiss Awww I feel you, I used to go home after school and chatter to my mum all evening, but she'd tell me to be quiet, she did not know I had no friends to talk to all day at school, I was a very lonely child. I love people and I am very social now, but it has had an effect on my confidence now. all I can say is don't give up the fight now.
Ha. I started doing this on my own, trying to explore different ways I can position my voice in my head... but I call it my Disney voice where I sound more like an enthusiastic Disney Princess than myself but it really has helped me.
Love your way of teaching Madeline. My Dogs who are always beside me~ they leap with Joy over this one. I've been doing the baby talk for as long as I can remember. I incorporate it into the Love I give my babies so it works out Great! We All Love this Video immensely~along with all of the others you have. 😄btw~It may sound crazy but it Works yall!!😊
How come whenever i want to hit higher notes i tend to go into my head voice? For example: when I sing Listen by Beyonce i cant project but end up using my head voice and sound horrible
Ariana Danii I believe it’s because that’s how you’re adjusted.. but it can be changed .. I’m like this, I started to sing in headvoice/falsetto like everyday for a while and then it began a common thing for me to do (switch into hv/flsto prematurely) I think the best way to help is try to (not physically or you will hurt yourself) push through your instinct to do that .. try to develop some form of chest/mix.. but I’m not professional yet...! It’s just a thought.. it won’t be over night 💗
Ariana Danii same I can‘t belt high notes I can just sing them using my head voice and my head vooce is still kinda breathy so it sucks. I think you need to strengthen your head voice so you can hit high notes with your mix or belt them
love your energy. I am a bass and getting older and my bottom range has dropped to G1 Need suggestion get more stenghth and bring resonate farther up to get more projectioin
Wow! Just yesterday I watched you video explains that if you loosen you throat, you can hit the high notes and already I’m singing SOO MUCH BETTER❤️❤️💞💞❤️
Mask work is great but proper breath support is a key factor that is also a big part of projection so that your throat doesn't tighten. It is all well and good to use the mask for projection but if attention is not paid to having a low, well supported breath flow the voice quality may be strong but not pleasant to listen to.
I don't fully understand this, but this is where my problem lies. No issues with 4:45, that's what I always do when I sing quietly. I just can't project that sound though... 🥲 + breath support is an issue for me!
Claudia Thanks so much!! I too LOVE the Outlander series! And as fate would have it, I was researchingr my ancestry tree and totally found out that I have a whole Scottish LINE of ancestors and guess what....I have a great grandfather named JAMES (FRIGGIN) FRASER!!! How crazy is that??!
Thank you- very interesting. I realized some kind of cracking while speaking!! I take your advice really seriously and will pay attention to where the sound is placed every time 'llI open my mouth .
Thank you so much for this help! I’m trying out for Shrek the musical next week and there are most notes I can’t hit so I have to use my head voice and this video really helped with my projection thank you!
Wow! I just found you today. I think you are quite amazing. I'm going to start watching you and practicing. Thank you so much. I will also share your video with other people that might be interested.
I like when you mentioned we should practise singing by learning to talk differently. There is probably so much that I do wrong in singing because I don't know how to talk that way, like opening my face, projection, dropping my jaw and possibly modify some vowels and keep the tongue behaving (stuck at the bottom teeth but sometimes the sides of the tongue touching the top back teeth) But I believe when teachers talk about SLS, they mean something fundamental, but maybe leaving out these other techniques.
Thanks for the video! I'll try to start doing this practice 😀 I'm not sure if I'm gonna do it right though. Hoping I will for my choir group. I prefer singing with my real voice as an Alto but since we lack Sopranos, I sing with them. My main problem is that my high notes come out loud and clear whereas my low notes come out barely a whisper when singing in Falsetto. Falsetto is my go-to when singing from G4 up. Everything below that is sung with my real voice so when a song moves from like C4 to G4, well, my voice changes as well. I have to start being consistent 😪 and I've been told to work on projection so here I am! I'll return when I improve. Lol.
so I tried doing the baby voice (?) thing and I ended up with everything going to the top of my throat and it started feeling a bit sore. can someone help me and tell me what I did wrong.
I also use the craziness of imitating animals and sounds and people when teaching. You present this as fun too!! Then there's the practicing every day OUTSIDE the studio during your everyday activities I think is essential. That's how I learned...inventing ways to use exercises while walking down the street or talking to people in a funny way. Thank you for amplifying on these concepts.
First of all I wanted to tell you that I am a huge fan of your channel and totally love that you are giving us these free lessons :) I have been singing for over 4 years just for fun all the time I was bored and I am scared that I might've ruined my voice due to singing during my voting break. Also my voice feels kind of limited as it's very hard to sing any higher notes. I can't hear if I hit the right chords so I also wanted to ask if you have any advice on that? thank you very much and sorry for taking your time :)
+Simon Spampinato Thanks for your feedback Simon! Your voice is an amazing instrument, and can respond to the slightest relaxed coordination to find balance again. If you feel that your voice is stiff, or limited, try spending some time doing some slight movement around the neck like gentle neck rolls. This will disengage any muscles around your larynx that may have some habitual tensions. Here is a video on singing really high that I'm including... Not specifically so you can sing really high, but this exercise is great at moving the voice in a relaxed way, while building more flexibility on your cords. I hope this helps!! Happy Singing! ruclips.net/video/9lRRF6lJtJE/видео.html
Very entertaining. I'm definitely going to try to enhance my voice with different pitches. It'll help when reading out loud, for storytelling. Of course I'm not going to do the Baby voice for the recording's but I will definitely try some to add some of the the highlighted vocal tones and maybe deeper in places, depending of the scenario.
Hi , great video💖.......... My problem is that I tend to sing very softly and as soon as I start to project, my voice goes of key and then I end up sounding really really bad😭😭.......What can I do ?? , What can I do to be able to project my voice and still sound as great as I would be if I wasn't projecting😭😭😭
Mylo Taylor Omg, this is actually a true help. I struggle in getting that whiny and powerful sound, I just flip into a softer head voice. What technique have you studied? SLS? Thanks 😊
Thank you so much💖 this really is helping me especailly for my other classes as well I have a book report so I have to read the book📚 and I can also practice on projecting my voice as well💖 I'm a really quite singer and I really cant even hear my self in choirs so this would help me build confidence💥thank you again. Oh and also u remind me of the girl from Glee I think her name is Emma and she is a therapist💖
I personally can't always believe that I'm that confident enough that I can do it myself and I keep getting so anxious and getting my anxiety panic attacks and I get scared of how I completely shut down by not talking and other ppl don't know what's going on and I get really upset about it how can I get out of my head
TQ for the video Madeleine, its new for me & i really learned alot about it.. +Tedy Loverholicx HI there!! Thanks for contacting me! I would LOVE to do a video on runs riffs trills and passaggio! Be sure to check back soon for this video! I can't wait!
Thank you. Great video but is it SAFE for the vocal cords???? I really need to know because I have a lot of vocal cracks during the day and I don't want to worsen the situation.
+Mimi Fly OH NO! Not pain! If that sound is hurting your throat, it's because your larynx is raising up a little. So stop using it for now. A good work around is to make a sad face, (Seriously) and whimper. This gets your tone moving forward and your breath supportive without too much fussiness from the larynx. Practice the whimper with short, medium volume sounds. And then increase the volume and the time that your holding out your whimper. This will activate that baby frame of reference and be easier to recreate when you go to sing. I hope this helps! Looking forward to chatting again!
I can sing loud in certain rooms if that makes sense... I can sing loud in my house and outside but in my choir practice room I can’t sing loud my voice goes small and I can sing high badly or low and no one can hear☹️ help??
hey madeleine . i tried doing the "baby" sound but my voice was kinda cracked at the end and i hate it ! how to escape frm this voice cracking ? it's horrible and i f really wanna try those high notes songs but i stopped cus of this "cracks"
I’m a very soft spoken person, and when I go to loud places, my friends and family aren’t able to hear me. So could this method still work even if you don’t plan on singing?
Can male singers also do this routine, considering he's a bass baritone then also he has to make that baby sound, and make that baby sound using falsetto or head voice?
I have some hard time defining crazy baby voice. It is basically high pitch, crying / brat voice no? Does men need to go as high than women ? Just asking ) thanks a lot for your amazing videos, it helps immensely !
Thanks for your question. Yes, it's basically like a little whinny baby cry thingie. It's great for bringing your vocal cords together and your tone forward. You do not need to cry super high in pitch to benefit from the baby sound. GO as high as it feels comfortable. Feel the sense of balance and access as you play with pitches using this sound. When you get really familiar with it, simply back off of the crying sensation (just a little) and see how your tone warms up a bit. I hope this helps!! Happy Singing!
Yes it helps, I took singing lessons in France few years ago and my teacher was always insisting to "smile" and make the voice resonnate in the cheekbones, but your videos are fantastic, I make much more progress with them. Which method did you learn ? Thank you !
Madeleine, I feel difficult to make that baby sound. In another video, "How to Sing with More Power & Edge", you teach the "edge" sound. Is the edge sound related to the "baby voice"?
your videos are too useful.bt I hav one question to you..why does my voice sound so different when I listen my recordings..its sounds as if sm other person is singing..and thats nt me..I feel I sound good live..but not wen recorded..why??
+Indra Desai Excellent question! What you are hearing when you sing is your voice resonating inside of your head. It's going to sound warmer and fuller because what you are perceiving is a smaller resonating space. What other people and recording devices hear is what happens to the sound once it leaves your body..It bounces around the room and thins in the sound wave. That's why we sound different from room to room and in the shower. The more you work on developing your voice, the more supported and compressed your sound will become. That means that the sound wave will be more focused as it bounces around the room acoustically. I hope this helps answer your question! Lots of love to you! Happy Singing!
I need help. When I sing I have a really quiet voice. I try everything to make it louder but nothing really seems to work. I feel weird when I sing with some of my fellow singers as they have loud big voices. And I don’t. What can I do ??
I look at an object far from me and think I want it to hear me(if it had ears)lol I guess it works but then DECIBELS! I worry my decibels are too much so what do u think I shouldn't go over for like Opera? Lol or the trick is don't sing opera simply choose a different style so I can use a microphone? Lol no but seriously 70, 80,90,100 what decibel should I not sing louder than?!
I tried your brilliant exercise. My mom wants me out of the house by Friday.
Skeeza Swoop 😂😂😂😂

+Gregory Sarma Well Well!!! Thanks so much!!! You just made my day!!!
+Gregory Sarma I agree!! I think she has a very creative and fun way to teach people to sing. I really enjoy watching her VDOs.
thank you for this. I speak in a very laid-back way, with my voice falling into my throat, in a lower range, that's why I think it's harder for me to project my voice well, I should speak with a more projected voice

Try to do exercises with your voice each day going to high to low note, like do, ray, me.
Preparing for my 2nd noise complaint 😌✌

okay now my sister thinks I'm crazy but I'll talk like that forever now, it's funny to see the reaction

Thank you SO much, Madeleine. You are amazing! I have learned so much from you.
That baby voice of yours would make a really good cartoon character voice haha xD
Dear Madeline, You are a geniuos. Thank you so much for all your access advices. Love.

Can you do an exercise video ? For projecting your voice.
Ok my conure REALLY loves it when I do this so I'm gonna keep doing it all the time around the house now.

i did a test to see if i was a soprano or alto and didn't end up anywhere as my lowest note isE4 and my highest isc5
Omg you are such an amazing and inspiring person! I loved this tutorial I'm working out my projection!!! And I'm a boy!!! THANKSSSSSS!!!! 😄😄😄😉

I loooove this exercise, I’m your new fan 👏👏👏
your explanations are very clear, thanks
Hi , great video💖.......... True.. Me too
Me too, I want to go into my school's talent show but I feel like I would be too quiet :/
Mylo Taylor Omg, this is actually a true help. I struggle in getting that whiny and powerful sound, I just flip into a softer head voice.
What technique have you studied? SLS? Thanks 😊
Tadéus same here
Me too 😦
I just loved this! you make it fun and you teach a lot too!
Very helpful! Thank you for explaining so well!
This videos are sooo amazing I tend to sing really badly at home but at school I sing well.... I donno hw but thats the case
Even my CAT was looking at me, like I was crazy while doing the excercise 😂😂😂 I feel so judged by her now..
Thank you Madeleine. That was really helpful.
You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
TQ for the video Madeleine, its new for me & i really learned alot about it.. Medaleine, can you make a video about the definition & the steps to produce melisma, run & riffs, vocal trills & also passaggio.. i really dont understand the meaning.. i hope u can make a video about it.. i really..really appreciate it.. +Tedy Loverholicx HI there!! Thanks for contacting me! I would LOVE to do a video on runs riffs trills and passaggio! Be sure to check back soon for this video! I can't wait!
As a teacher with a tendency to mumble in conversation, this was very helpful. :)
Im going to audition for sister act but i would love to know how to sing louder and more powerful when in the middle of chest and head voice
Best youtube video thanks alot
I subscribed a minute after this video started, you're amazing!
I definitely kind of love you. *KIND* of...
Thank you friend!! Lots of love to you too!!
glad i found you,,, your explanations are great... and very helpful... thank you
Thank you. Great video but is it SAFE for the vocal cords????
I really need to know because I have a lot of vocal cracks during the day and I don't want to worsen the situation.
These videos are absolutely amazing, Madeline you’re amazing💕💕
how come when I sing and play guitar I have an issue matching the chord with my voice it limits the chord progressions and tuneings for me
I feel the same way it’s so weird
LMBO!! I'm so going to try reading like this! Thanks for awesome vid's!!!
you sound like the Mad Hatter's daughter from Ever After High
It sounds like Bernadette from The Big Bang Theory :-))) I love your videos ! 💜
Valérie R or Janice from Friends...
why do i feel like my reckless crazy baby voice hurt my throat a lil...how to direct it more forward to the mask from there? #doingitwrong
+Madeleine Harvey thanks! i tried it once and yes it triggered another 'pocket'..lol..thanks!!!
I'm just laughing at you effortlessly hitting those powerful B5s (and a short E6) in your baby voice xDD
Your "baby voice" sounds like a slightly more energetic version of my friend Ynfinity's (pronounced infinity) voice. :)
Raven Sikkness TV that's an awesomely rare name
omg thank you so much, i want to be a teacher and i am having trouble having my students year me because i have a very quite voice. this helped a lot!
Absolutely AWESOME!
Thank u so much,
I can sing loud in certain rooms if that makes sense... I can sing loud in my house and outside but in my choir practice room I can’t sing loud my voice goes small and I can sing high badly or low and no one can hear☹️ help??
Hello what vocal exercises should I do after thyroid surgery?
Thank you matt harvey
That was so much fun and it really helps!
hey madeleine . i tried doing the "baby" sound but my voice was kinda cracked at the end and i hate it ! how to escape frm this voice cracking ? it's horrible and i f really wanna try those high notes songs but i stopped cus of this "cracks"
I’m a very soft spoken person, and when I go to loud places, my friends and family aren’t able to hear me. So could this method still work even if you don’t plan on singing?
I can’t really feel the difference in point of focus, it fees as if I’m more focused on going high pitched than where my projection is coming from
I don’t understand how to do get the voice out of the throat. I guess I can’t envision it very well.
Wow this is an amazing idea!
ooooh! This helps soooo much! Thank you☺💚
My voice keeps getting stuck in my throat 😢
Lol i love your videos!! Thank u so much for doing them. I definately need to take lessons
Can male singers also do this routine, considering he's a bass baritone then also he has to make that baby sound, and make that baby sound using falsetto or head voice?
No, not falsetto. Use a heady-mixed or bright mix. You don't have to imitate her. Just make your voice really light and youthful
Do you have to use "falseto" voice? I'm a little bit lost here.😅
Madeleine, I feel difficult to make that baby sound. In another video, "How to Sing with More Power & Edge", you teach the "edge" sound. Is the edge sound related to the "baby voice"?
Please help me! I can not, CAN NOT project my voice! At all. Speaking, singing, even baby voice!
your videos are too useful.bt I hav one question to you..why does my voice sound so different when I listen my recordings..its sounds as if sm other person is singing..and thats nt me..I feel I sound good live..but not wen recorded..why??
What is an exercise ro help me reacg higher notes higher notes
you are awesome thank you
I need help.
When I sing I have a really quiet voice.
I try everything to make it louder but nothing really seems to work.
I feel weird when I sing with some of my fellow singers as they have loud big voices. And I don’t. What can I do ??
Lol, I did the silly sounds before I saw this vid. I was trying to explore how to make volume.
love it!!
What Do I have to do Make my voice very clear and nice when I'm singing
