I think Katsunori barely scratched the surface on this one. He's always one of my favourite demonstrators but there is a ton more to be had with this synth. I own one and I agree the bright sounds are big and bold but there are so many other places this synth can go so do yourselves a favour, and of course always check out Katsunori's demos but for the JP8000 also check out some of the work other people have pulled out of their JP8000's... some really cool stuff out there :)

You know what’s crazy? Someone with a good Ear for sound could put so many synths into submission with it’s ease of use. Spend your entire life studying an ARP so you can make half as many grooves. I have a lot of Synths, but this one is the most fun.

  • @TheScreamingFrog916
    @TheScreamingFrog916 4 года назад +5

I picked one up, 20 years ago. Great synth.
One of it's unique features is, its modulation options, like the ribbon controller that can have multiple destinations, to any knob/slider. If you want, you can rout the
expression pedal to sweep the slider, giving your foot, control over
    powerful/complex modulation.
The combination of the ribbon controller, pitch bend, and modulation lever, all in one spot, allows for some creative left hand modification, of the sound, during a solo.
I would rather have this than afftertouch any day.
Also the dual synth engines that can be split or layered, expands it's usefulness and allows for complex sounds.
It also is able to send one synth engine to the left channel, and the other to the right channel output jacks.
Sophisticated stereo auto panning is also possible.
    JP-8000 still a contender, 20 years later.

    • @brooksplayzofficial

"It also is able to send one synth engine to the left channel, and the other to the right channel output jacks." How do you do this?

    • @TheScreamingFrog916
      @TheScreamingFrog916 9 месяцев назад +1

@@brooksplayzofficial there is a panning knob at the top right, that allows you to pan each layer separately.
Pan one layer to the left, the other to the right.
Be aware that the panning knob has different functions, depending on its associated button.
Hope that helps you get where you want to go ☮️

A Roland classic, unlike some of the dreadful Roland synths of today.I have one of these, love all the controls, easy to make some incredible sounds. The keyboard could have been bigger, and casing is made of a funny plastic, that's prone to be easily scuffed and scratches. So, not the best for gigging. The 80's band Heaven 17, still use one on stage.. sounds very digital, but then again it is, Great synth, Great demo. LOL ...

One thing that kills me about the JP-8000 is the lack of aftertouch. I mean, why in the world such a synth which begs to have aftertouch doesn't have it, heh?

  • @moogdome2562
    @moogdome2562 6 лет назад +2

I'm fortunate to own this synth mint condition. A great looking synth, with plenty of switches and sliders for endless hours of synth fun. I have to say, it does sound very digital, compared to my 106, and more so than my JD800. So many possibilities with The analog controls, but the casing is made of a plastic, that is easily scuffed, so maybe not the best synth for a gig, but I bet it has. Roland, in my opinion, has made some bad synths and some classics, this has to be one. Why they don't stick to a winning formula I don't know. All I know is this is a keeper and synth prices have gone through the roof. So glad I bought mine secondhand when they were relatively cheap. I saw Heven17 use one on stage just a few years ago, so still usable today.

Great sound, really cuts, played it when it came out back in the 90s. Only thing is that I remember some knobs if being tweaked 'live', 'on the fly' 'in real time' caused digital noise like clicking or glitch sounds, maybe due to processing limitations for a digital modeling synth of that period. The great thing about having all controls on accessible was changing them in realtime, but the noises worked against it.

I Love This! I had and have Which Not turning even on anymore because i opened My Roland Juno-G which was Good for a inexpensive and effective machine of 4500$ Workstation-Synth...:(😢 :/ So About 890$ then Maybe 2008-2009 orange screen and i like hands ln and real, or virtual analogue like Roland's Jp-8000 Juno106 and Ofcourse intentionally for soundtrack's and others Which i dont have to mess with plug in (Some People say well why not control the software plug in knob's with midi keyboard edited for knob's etc) that's true! But i have only controller midi keyboard small like maybe 24 key's "25" 12+12 +1 and it has 8 rubber pads for voices etc edited but its velocity sensitive like the keyboards etc i don't Know how to get that off.
ANYWAY My Roland Juno-G was very good versatile like it would be 6x more Costly! Because it was REALLY that good if not mention the big - the screen to go 90% things just like Plug in you control knob's from lets say mouse in doing that 240min akq 4hours is same as DOING the non Plug in and hands on it would be 4hours like its 20hours because physically knob's and faders! Etc...
ANYWAY i Should known that new 890$ good like Juno G is really too good to be true... I Know almlst everyone who had that When it came out as a Good composer for demo's or straight professional line track's. Instrumental and vocals Always separate from my master's. Never sell them to sony or umg Etc same top...
You are 100x more chances to Have Many top 10 But! NEVER EVER YOU WOULD CHOOSE that over freedom of your OWN MUSIC!!!.. so please true artist musicians never ever! Have started or doing Music 🎵 good melodies and deep etc different genre's but not flip flop. Even if the music lets say MGK is not bd at all, it's nothing to like blink 182 etc green day red hot chili peppers Etc Would pick ⛏️ up q Lane naturally if your child etc suoer young like 10-25 even. Qnd the Music is 90% of thing's Which other made And showed and good that he have and know to sing and not being tone deaf like Many who things They are good When They Are Not.!
ANYWAY MGK and almost everyone around him is true rock etc artist's like Travis Avril etc. But i hate to hate! So im not hating im neutral
And i wish everything good For everyone on the band 5 seconds of summer or something...
That professionally sucks Aka no any faults or lack of singing oe playing instruments But it would be numbingly dull even if it wouldv been 1999-2000s era punk rock pop bands and nu Metal bands "Which i hate the bs genre name's" real People and us,me just calling Music like electronic or Rock,Metal whatever' But i don't even Know sub genres dont care!..
Anyway ROLAND S Juno G has Like Good 61 keys aka 5 octave keyboards 5x 12... Anyway the screen! Malfunction every time!! Within months a d changed it in a store replaced screen and it Works... For an now within 3 weeks...
And now screws lff so kts Open but it wlnt go on because some cord width maybe few inches but it went off snap and i don't Wanna to get kt repaired just to see the dcreen go malfunction again! Its a malfunction of inside fault lime tol mich heat qnd you won't see it if you have made this super Cheap expensive feeling synthesizer or samples and workstation not easy to flow because button's make 90% functions etc but that would be Nice for demo's Etc Which i used it..
Anyway maybe replace it Korg karma someday? Or Maybe even Juno -Gs current updated no orange screen cheap 799-990$ where my expansion Voice thing fits?...
I don't know But any way i Have not for dale but 1 key wont work and have to Much force to push buttons especially The Back for forward and back buttons but otherwise it's Not cracked everywhere etc but really gold and good Roland Jp-8000
And my best mono phonic Full analog but can be tune in without opening a d like piano tuned kn the professional because it's not sound its real voice Which go out of tune i would loved any one but this non bluish colors but orange and reddish colors for my Moog Little Phatty and small non bright screen where is various things but only 10% for the sounds etc knobs there is many added which Best is Self tune in function which might take a while which means good that's getting out of tune oscillators (2x) for Moog Little Phatty and it's not light weight.
And Ofcourse instead of The Original... Man the Roland tr808=0
8 is so 👍🏼! I replaced My older bigger 80s tr 808 For wau BETTER updated and work's perfectly especially kf you have many thing's which might cost clos to 50 000$ that's when I can jse it freely! Quick and adding it and have time to use it unlike ny 80s Roland tr 808 not quick enough and it's better if you have nothing more but cables Etc because it has outputs almlat every Voice and not stable because analogue without Any synchrony etc...
But if you doing hip-hop and rap thats better but on electronic etc, only if you have knowledge of compression and physical analogy mixer, GUITAR pedals and even Bass guitar distortion i have And people don't believe that when USING Bass wether guitar or synthesizer/keyboard NORMAL guitar Distortion pedals Which I have atleast 3 which i not GONNA Give out like many Which isn't good enough for me. And us who i dont like to do because of money. But still shellshocked from tim Bergling s Su1c1d* :'( 😢🕊️😢🎵✌️
Haunts me, WHY couldn't able to stop and say him "I BACK YOU UP 10Å% ,Your health comes first! F the dj performances you sont have to anymore And i help you and support you"
BUT NOPE! He wasnt supported at all! Sho could i was hospotsl too and Many said same thing if his money only thinking people around him ,See someone dont just make music together but try to help and gove advice! They get that you cant contact him easy not even relatives when the Alcohol wouldn't destroy and caused chronic pain Which OPIOIDS is necessary but change that to GABAPENTIN??! Is such a! Bs! When i ised them they were like bad Gamma or something! And Unlike Opioids it was way slow to work and work strange and caused nightmarish thought's when Sleeping etc...😢🕊️ Unlike Oxycodone without paracetamol that's only 2 Biggest negative things and if you know them thats all its not the Oxycodone jit counterfeit with morphine, Fentanyl and Xylene etc Before it was some benzodiazepine but The Xylenes is WORSE Unlike benzodiazepines!
Anyway! Benzodiazepines ,opioids and marijuana are deeam team!
ONLY 2 (NO TOLERANCE QND TOO MUCH OPIOIDs = overdose and qhen USING everyone gets Addicted NORMALLY but just withdrawal slowly And Back again it Will help whem you not try any euphoria only and always like 18x doses out of 100x aka Instant 10mg x18 180mg... Mixed with benzodiazepines or if drinking alcohol im not anymore year's! ANYWAY if nlt abused like nodding purposely everytime! And withdrawal is almlst sny drug but this is hard if too quickly like 8 days full stop! No!
    Tapering SLOWLY!
Anyway do you Know does Juno G have wny same parts than other more expensive etc or others workstations use same parts?? And when fixing the power öm wven aka the inside the silver wide cable thing!
And now then the screen work's "NORMALLY Aka upsidedown and cant get sny detail's because some bug lf the device maybe heat Maybe contact somewhere" but i hope someone Would Know what to do!? :+( ,And im nlt need it like i van make everything with others but i !lved it for a midi control keyboards because it has Good 👍🏼 velocity's on le off keyboards and 61! Keys + good voice's for some demo Etc. But hands ln k ! love like jp 8000,Roland Juno 106/06 Not 🚫 06a i !ove the original Juno 106 and the 06 module with 25 key keyboards but the 06a is not better and same as Roland ju06 which I Like and its replaced my Juno 106 which needed fixing all the Time and the malfunctioning chip inside was so painfull! The newer smaller Roland ju06a was good looking And the voices was on but there something missing and the before 06a was Roland ju06 which i bought and listened instant! It was so good And feeling Like Juno 106 without chip tuning malfunction fears Etc And the sound's are so perfect! 06a is no where same as 06.
    ANYWAY peace and love 💕! ✌️😢🕊️ :(
One of the jp 8000 with only module Maybe named (Jp 800) isn't same the keyboards is Part of The Roland jp8000 Anyway the module Only had patch with name "sandstorm" and i know for sure Darude used these synthesizer too so the name is in et taken from the Stock patch named "sandStorm"
Bye! Wish good for everyone! I Hope whatever music you like or Make! But Remember ghr name BUSINESS from Music -BUSINESS!
SO you don't Go on trap and cant control your Own Music And life maybe even 7year deals etc 42song deal's...:(
Do it 4 love for Music 🎵 sensation, Don't Give up! Of you really know what you are doing its so talented And not common to know synths etc so don't stop!! Katy Perry and Billie Eilish etc are just like lottery! Theres 100 000x same as her brother But they know Billie Eilish will sell especially Young audience!
And Katy Perry just picks wongs like Rihanna picked the Diamonds which is Sia Fuhler s song made for Rihanna Then pulled the vocals out once Rihanna sing it on same Melody as Sia on studio.

Oops, my bad! It has only 49 keys (four octaves plus the C in the fifth octave)! A setup such as a spinet organ rather than a console organ uses! Also these (spinet organs, that is) usually have two 44 key offset manuals, rather than the 61 of a console! I have even seen keyboards with 25, 37 and even 54 keys that, in addition to the common 73, 76, and of course 88!

Thank you for demonstrating some great synthesizers. I think when talking about a polysynth with multiple oscillators per voice it is better to say, for example, "two oscillators per voice" or "two banks of oscillators" instead of "two oscillators." This way beginners won't misunderstand and think it is a monosynth.

  • @NachtSchreck13

Now *THAT'S* how you play this synthesizer.
Don't get me wrong - I love Techno and have been very much into it since the early 90's. Most Techno producers can't play keyboard for sh¡t, though, and literally only access a fraction of a synthesizer's potential. Focusing only on shaping the tonal qualities is all well and good, but without being able to play a proper melody with those tones, you're only scraping the surface of your instrument.

Yup- sounds amazing and with the controls and wave forms, super saw- it's sort of like a modern moog. deep rich sounds, and it is polyphonic- def. a best all around synth and they did a great ob, it's like a volvo, no problems ever. EVERYONE I know has had problems with the Ion, I like the digital, analoguish sound of the JP better. If you want that total Analogue, go all out and get a voyager or phatty, or better yet- the Prophet 08 -save yourself the headaches- just want to play-no hassles

this is the best synth ever. only synth that can compare in sound power and sweetness is JD-800 and AN1X/CS6X

Not at all. It's one of the thinnest & most plastic sounding VA's ever made.

I have an XP30 that I use for gigging (playing 70's fusion synth solos), but would love to have the knobs for real time manipulation. Might have to get one of these used somewhere!

Compared with Andromeda A6, JP8000 has a very limited ribbon controller... But that's not a problem to die for...

Had an AN1x - think it does sound "better" than the JP-8000 personally, but you have to dig in more. I actually prefer my JD-800 to both even though it's not a virtual analog, I prefer the filter on it and the overall tone. It can do many analog style things just like VA but bit more classy

I always hear about the Alessis Ion in the company of the best VA's, but they seem to have more operational problems than a 9's Ford escort. Any other contenders that anyone wouldn think would go with these two?

@LittleNegrillio many synths lack power and tightness in the lower octaves but even my mv8800 build in synth has a really clear and tight powerful low.

A substitute for the hardware (and very cheaper) is the app for iPad "Sunrizer".

I owned one for five months and sold it finnally. Its sound doesn't satisfy me.
Too much brilliant, and modern for my taste.
    I don't miss it anyway.
Of course, I love its interface that allows you to modify all the parameters with one knob/fader, but out of that I prefer many other synths for same or cheaper price.

+KurtFuller You must be the opposite to me. I loved this synthesizer before I know what it was. I will bring my JP8080 with me down in my grave, and I will tattoo JP8080 on my body subsequently. I can't understand how this synth is not satisfying anyone with taste for synths.
