Sites should be placed within a mile radius of elected officials. Far too often they make decisions that effect neighborhoods they don’t live anywhere near.

I am a lefty Bay Area resident and not a fan of these sites. Addicts generally do not want help. Those that have saved themselves will tell you they first had to reach “rock bottom” and then make their own choice to clean up. Accept their own Tough Love. Having addiction be comfortable and convenient makes little sense.

Why not go after the Dealers and advertise Rehab/Recovery treatment instead.
Offering free Needles and Shoot-Up Free Zones makes it seem City approves of this behavior.
Why not offer Narcan (Reverses deadly opiate effects) with instructions if you are concerned about the death statistics.

it works much better when a supervisor can spray it into an addicts nose when
      they start overdosing
      that's what the sites provide

Correct they should be in City Hall and Governor Office if allowed. Where are the parents of these teens or young adults? I have to watch over my 3 kids. Two are adults now who don’t use drugs. It’s the friends they hang out with. I know because some of my oldest son try to get him to using drugs.

I NEVER used an illegal drug - that includes marijuana. However, I do support the idea of trying to use these sites. I've heard these sites tried before, and the one result was a lowering of violent crime. I think it's worth a try. If it fails it fails. If it's successful it's successful.

You can't reduce human behavior to such a simple scenario. You're right, many won't use the facility, but others will. This ISN'T a new idea. I have seen it before. One NICE effect of this was a reduction of crime. That alone COULD make it pay for itself. For those people who want to get treatment, it provides an economical way to it.
