Nice vid! I think why I feel unsettled seeing the "iPad kids" generation is because unboxing toys and playing with products - even if no brand is mentioned - just sort of makes children upset and jealous that they don't have that product. It's the equivalent of watching their friends play with toys that they wish they had. It makes children consumers from the beginning. Also, there's never morals to surprise unpackaging videos. These are formative years where children should be exposed to stories that include consequences without experiencing them IRL.
In the first Avengers movie, a Dr. Pepper vending machine can be seen clearly in the background of a fight scene. Meanwhile at the same Dr. Pepper released limited edition Dr Pepper cans each with one of the 6 characters so that fans (me included) could collect them 🤙🏻
the production quality of this video is actually insane. keep it up! as someone who has mastered the quick time event of skipping the add portion of a YT video, i really appreciate the insight
Alex, you make a great point that I haven't thought about for more than ten years. My son was born in 1993, my wife and I where raised with 3 TV channels, and cable was for the insanely rich, so we bought up our son with that mentality we would go to Hastings or Sun Coast or Barns and Noble and buy from the bargain bin Kids shows for my son, and yes Thomas the Tank engine was included, because Ringo Star, we bought Disney movies on VHS and boot legged Shriek. And at that age my son was in heaven , he learned how to use the VHS player and he also liked to read, which he still does. So One day we decided to get cable , because Comcast was offering High speed broadband , so we got cable, then all of the product placements and mind controlling started, I remember when my son and I watched Transformers beast wars , Damn ! now I have two very large bins full of Transformers, also Gundam , and so on. but I stopped the insanity, I showed my son the movie Kung Pow , great satire ! product placement all over the place! and that was the point, my son realized that this is a plot, a Capitalist plot to control every aspect , and it became a game to spot like one of the commenters said, so is it a Coke r Pepsi movie. keep up the great work !
Great video! It is so easy to forget that behind the vast majority of content there is always some other business waiting to sell a product or service. On a related note: I had just recalled a scene from Space Balls, where they made fun of franchise related merchandise, like the Space Balls flamethrower! (infamously copied by a certain rich person that is known for their strong opinions and diverse business investments)
I believe the Space Balls scene was because their deal with George Lucas said they weren't allowed to make real merchandise, so they made that scene to make fun of him.
>Lancia Stratos and Audi Quattro You truly are a man of taste. Also here is your monthly reminder to make another 4X4 video because I'm going to keep asking for it.
Maaaan, I wish I could. I love alone and all my friends are back in California. I live pretty close to TFL and I wish I could take my Xterra round their off road course but they don't seem interested hahaha
Here's my 2c on not being not the smartest kid on the block growing up. When I was 7-8 I had come up with the theory that everything back in the day was black and white and only recently had the world become colour.... As newer shows and cartoons were in colour and all the old stuff was black and white. Seems logical to an 8yr old haha, mum had news for me! T.V shows point, 90's ABC Australia had Captain Planet, Rupert Bear, sesame street, Tin Tin the amazing list goes on.. oh and The Animals from Farthing Wood (kid truma) thx ABC.
Hey in your defense, the real world in the Wizard of Oz is black and white, and only turns colour when she arrives in the fantasy world. I think that's proof the 1930s were black and white hahaha

My kids are shocked when something they see on a show or RUclips channel isn't a product they can buy.
