It's definitely great hearing a different perspective from another fan especially cause the meaning of the show evolves along with us as we grow as individuals
@nymersic Akira definitely ain't for everyone. A lot of the plot is in the manga which makes the film a little hard to follow. Although, the action and atmosphere totally makes up for that
I don't know why, but I always get chills when I see that "See you space cowboy." It doesn't even really mean anything much to me but it just... it just belongs there and feels right.
so did mine. but it had to happen. the other 3 in the group were adults who went through some horrible shit, and were obviously scarred from it. ed was young and full of life. if she stayed, eventually the other 3 would have rubbed off on her and she would have become cynical way too early in life.
Spike's end was undoubtedly one of the saddest scenes in film i've seen, but i can't help but feel like it is exactly how this show should have ended. It serves as a lesson. Jet made peace with his past after confronting it, faye confronted her past and found nothing, ed returned back to her home after a long time of absence, and Spike, whose one eye was looking constantly at the past, could not escape from it, and died because of his unwillingness to let go. It is tragic, realistic, and heavy. We're gonna carry that weight.
i know right! i like how deep he digs into the plotline , the character design etc it makes me take notes myself. i've been rewatching many fav series of mine like yu yu hakushu and making notes of why i liked it back then and why i like it better now. God! its so unnecessary but i like doing this. Sometimes, when i have run out of my anime list options to watch , i just click any of his videos on anime I have already watched and God! it feels sooo good!!
After watching most of his videos, I'm blown away at how much work he puts into his videos. The depth of his discussions into the themes of whatever series he's talking about is so well done. You can tell he puts an immense amount of time into each of his videos. It really is such great content and he deserves every penny he earns from RUclips and more.
Farhanking7862 keep watching the show. every time you watch it you discover something new. I've been watching the show since 2001 and I still find new things about it :)
i actually prefer the animation of cowboy bebop - it feels like the characters are actually part of the environment, modern anime often feels very plastic to me
Yep. Shows like Demon Slayer are smooth and fluid... But almost to the point of a fault. It's approaches unatural. I think the best animated anime I've watched has got to be Castlevania. The art is not noticably digitized at all (not even sure if it is) and often where other anime drop in detail to encompass the scope of a battle, it increases it. Probably the best animated media I've seen. Cowboy Bebop is second in art imo.
@@Opanos. bro that's cappp 💀💀 u alr know OP is the goat of shonen like CB is our goat for everyday life lol quit bitchin the industry changed get over it
This show changed my life. I still remember, when I got out the army, I went to my first Anime con that Steve Blum was at, and spent a lot of money to make sure I got this special pass, that allowed me to go to a bar that some guest. I remember how they did this whole announcement of the guests, and then they just opened it to hangout time, and I remember watch Steve leave the VIP area, to got to the "fan" area and talk with fans. So I lined up, my Cowboy Bebop shirt on, and waited to talk with him. I just remember walking up to him, saying "Your Spike." He said yes in the voice, and a tear came to my eye. I told him how the show changed my life being a young black man from the inner cities, and he just gave me a hug. One of the best moments of my life, and it's all thanks to this show. I loved the music, I loved the visuals, and I loved the story. I still hold it as my favorite show of all time, and it ranks up there with the 86 transformers movie. (long stoy) I know this is many years late, but thank you for this video.
@@dylanb2364 it's really good, and for me, must watch. Both Japanese and English are good, but I grow up on the English dub, and is one of the better dubs out there.
I remember as a little kid my dad would be watching cowboy bebop after sending me to bed and when I "couldn't sleep" I'd go into the living room and lay on the couch next to my dad as he watched and fall asleep go the series. To say I have a nostalgic connection to the series is an understatement.
I think I understand the point of Ed in the show Could you imagine the show without her? Cowboy Bebop would be so stressful to watch without Ed because, while everyone has a lighter side to them, the characters have such a heavy darkness and seriousness of it, they're so jaded and kind of, assholish Ed is much needed levity in this show.
Well, we don’t really have to imagine the show without her. She doesn’t show up until episode 9, and she leaves in episode 24. There are 10 episodes without her and the series is only 26 episodes long.
She’s comic relief, that’s why when she leaves it hits so hard because you’ve never really thought of her in the same light of someone like Faye the show Trojan horses you with that whole episode and just drops a bombshell of emotion
In the end, Ed (and Ein) provide the one thing to the story that none of the other characters could. Hope and a future determined by events that are yet unknown. Every great story has balance and Ed brings that balance to Bebop. See you Cowgirl, Someday, Somewhere!
You mention a lack of showing Ein's intelligence??? what about when he cracked into the nueral network that Ed had difficulty doing in a matter of seconds? In Session 23.
The egg eating scene and when Faye confronted Spike at the end both hit me super hard. The biggest things I got out of Cowboy Bebop were sadness and jazz, so basically just jazz.
i never could understand why people call shinji "selfish", shinji is running away from the pain created by his trauma as a child and try to fool himself into a lie were everything is perfect. Because of his trauma shinji is socially akward but "selfish"? how? how is he selfish? Since the first episode shinji agree to fight even if he didn't know how to use the EVA and he wasn't there for that in the first place (it was about talking with his father), so i don't think he is a "coward". I guess people in the internet just like to spam that word just like japan to sound "smart".
Ever since I started watching anime, Cowboy Bebop had always been in the background as one of those "old" anime that everyone likes. I always wondered why it was so, but never wondered enough to try and watch. Thank to your recommendation, at 23 I finally watched it. And I just loved how it had a sense of relatability unlike any other anime I've ever seen. Now all I want is to watch anything else that remotely touches the same themes of Cowboy Bebop. Even just the part about being an adult. Because that kind of stuff hits just the right spot.
Cars Carandang try Samurai shamploo. Same writter. Excallent characters and like cowboybebop has only about 26 episodes a beginning and an end and tge end left me almost in the same place bebop did. It might not be bebop but it is definitely my second favorite anime series of all time.
I wish that somewhere, in some different time, Jet came to Spike's rescue and that they and Fay are still moving around in the cosmos in the Bebop, a little wiser and a little more healed, after their respective closures, and have finally come together as a family. I wish they happened upon Ed and Ein, and that Ed and Ein walked again on the deck of Bebop. We will never know what really happened and we will always keep wishing... but I feel like I dont want to know. Somewhere in my mind, that wish has come true and I still sometimes happen to hear about their misadventures in my mind I cannot say that this is the best story of all time, I'm not qualified for that. But these people are the ones I remember most where I've forgotten many real friends. Thanks for this video! Loved every second of it.
As one of my favorite properties of all time, I have to say this is one of the best videos I've ever seen on Cowboy Bebop. You hit every point eloquently and I even got a little misty when you described not just the characters in wondrous detail, but their unique struggles and fascinatingly lonely identities, which, as you pointed out, buck the rule and refuse to change or grow or arc. Keep up the stellar work, my friend, and once again, excellent job. You've done Bebop proud.
Right? I couldn't believe that I actually stumbled across something so insightful on RUclips. It's a rare occurrence, and I had to watch it again to make sure I wasn't just hallucinating and projecting one of my internal monologues onto a fictional person...again.
Eyepatch Wolf at it again with the good ass recommendations. Also, it's pretty cool how you brought up Digibro's video and mentioned how stylish Bebop's character designs are.
17 year old me watched this show and 20 years later 37 year old me just rewatched it. You are correct, the deep messages of longing, loneliness, melancholy, and regret hit much closer to home now than they did back then.
Same here...I first watched the show when I was like 13, sporadically at midnight (because this was the time it aired on MTV). And now almost 20 years later, I thought I should give it another try - and what can I say, it hit me in so many ways, which simply would not have been possible back then.
Ein’s intelligence is expressed plenty of times, Ein is the first one to notice that fridge creature on the ship in session 11, he barks at it in the distance but the crew ignores him, Ein also saves Jets ass in Session 23 when he almost gets corrupted by the Scratch cult through the VR headset thing, he was growling at the console than bites Jets leg, Ein is able to answer Faye’s calls to Bebop & he solves the mystery behind the sunstone in session 22
and he controls the damn console too, no one noticed that.. weird... I wish it was shown less subtly and more often cuz come on pls make him cool smart dog and shine too
Hououin Kyouma I have to agree with Max Payne though School Days has multiple endings and they decided to go with one of the "bad" endings that no one likes at all
I’d argue Faye does progress and grow somewhat through out the series. She becomes to cherish her bonds with others after being someone who would just push everyone away
These are honestly some of the most heartwarming comments I’ve ever seen. It’s amazing to see how this series touched so many people and continues to do so. Excellent video John
The whole 'adults with their past behind them' thing is also something I really appreciate about Gintama, thouhh of course that's a shounen manga at heart, it's something I appreciate much more about older protagonists. Having their pasts in the past and having to deal with more adult life. And I feel that's why adult characters have always appealed to me.
Cowboy Bebop is one of those things that you definitely want more of but are ok for the most part that there isn't. Of course anytime rumors of a follow up serries takes that closure and flushes it down the toilet. So when someone says Hey there making a new serries called Cowgirl Ed I know that's it's not true but there is a part of me that wants it to be.
Clone Trooper Commander Doom it could but it won't. Fans have made their peace with the series being done that if they made a prequel or any form of continuation they'll honestly be pissed. I know I would be because that's what makes Bebop special and a classic.
I would like a what if series maybe spike living but who knows i get what you mean though a part of me wants it back but feel like messing with the ending and trying to continue the series would ruin the meaning of the ending
I love when he talks about “the little scars life leaves on you” and coping I just finished cowboy bebop for the first time. I finished it in 5 days I’m currently in the army and dealing with loneliness. In the 5 days i watched it I discovered my ex is moving to Florida and I’ll most likely never see her again. I also discovered the girl I’ve been in love with since I was 19 (I’m 24 now) came out of the closet, finally forcing me to accept that we’ll never work things out and end up together This show really came at the most perfect time for me and besides the fact that objectively speaking it’s a great work of art, the time I watched it in makes me love it that much more
Thank you for your service. We’re here for you. Cowboy bebop came into my life at a very important time as swell and I can definitely relate to your story. Hope it all works out my friend.
Yes, same for me. This show has such a real atmosphere and its such a nod to reality that we don't get the conclusion that we want sometimes. Like when Jet found his ex and she couldn't tell him why she left... its the kind of story life writes as well
The funny thing is, this series was so memorable to me that I could identify what episode every single one of the clips in this video was from. I suppose that's the sign of a good series there.
I love this show so much it’s hard to even say. I’m so grateful that I turned out knowing and loving this show. No show or movie will put a smile on my face (or tears) quicker than Cowboy Bebop. I’m what my mom calls an “old soul”, meaning that even though I’m only 17 the messages in Bebop hit me like a bus. I love this show so much.
One of my favorite animes. I also have this kind of nostalgia-love for the show, since I watched it the first time when I was very very young. Over the years I progressively forgot the plot, but I never forgot the music. It really left an impression on me. As an adult I re-watched Cowboy Bebop and felt stunned. It's a masterpiece. Thanks for the video. I really like your channel.
That's how I felt too. I watched some episodes as a high schooler back in the day and the music always stuck to me. I burned a copy of some of the soundtracks (back before I knew how illegal that was) and I loved the music so much. It wasn't until a few weeks ago when I was browsing through a friend's Hulu that I decided to start really watching Cowboy Bebop on a serious note (finished it a few days ago using CrunchyRoll because I can't afford Hulu on top of my other subscriptions right now)
I haven't watched this show in about 10 years, but it's one of my favorite pieces of media ever. I distinctly remember this scene where Spike and Jet are angrily eating Faye's and Ed's share of food (boiled eggs) pretending they are fine and nothing serious has happened...I was heartbroken. There are some parts of Cowboy Bebop that are pure genius. I'm totally watching it again.
The video was a banger, let that be known. But that OUTRO, goodness gracious me it has been so long since I've watched (and not skipped) after the main script is over. Great music.
Ein, the dog actually barks one for yes and twice for no, and barks when a certain times when he sees bounties on the screen, and later, the cast chases that bounty. So Ein has a bit more expression than you think!
I spent the entire show pretty much hating on Faye. I thought she was incredibly annoying and ungrateful, and yet when she left in episode 24 and the ending text said "see you cowgirl, someday, somewhere" I really thought we would never see her again, and I almost broke.
Your analysis has actually helped me realize why I can't get into this show and why I probably never will. This is a complement by the way, you did an awesome job analyzing what the show is about and where it's appeal lies.
Kaneki the Absolute Savage Sometimes people will say they dislike a show they haven't seen because they don't like how popular or talked about it is. I kind of do this with Attack on Titan. I liked AOT when the anime was about humanity surviving and fighting against the titans, NOT when the stupid political conspiracy crap came on. When the series blew up the way it did, I almost got turned off a bit as people called it the greatest anime of all time (which it is not)
Wow you’re right. When I was younger I didn’t appreciate this or think anything of the series but now that I’m 6 years older than when I first watched it, I appreciate it a lot more now
Thank you for introducing me into this show, It was something I was looking, that was mature, and it has been amazing to be able to watch it these past few weeks.
I have watched every video Wolf has done, and without fail will still click his thumbnails if/when they pop up on my YT home page. This man's work has become a comfort zone for me.
I grew up fast and experienced maybe more than I should have as a child. I think I always recognized these themes and tones in the show, I just couldn't fully understand how I was relating to the them or find the words in my mind to explain them. Even into adulthood. Cowboy Bebop has always just been an awesome show that continues to be a comfort for me and I never really bothered thinking about it much beyond that. You helped me put this show into perspective. Thanks man.
I had a good childhood. I never experienced tragedy or sadness in my youth. We had hard times but my parents handled it well. Not having enough money to keep the lights on. Playing bard games in front of the fire with the whole family is some of my best memories. These memories are not negative as a result Cowboy Bebop never interested me as a kid. Now times have changed. Friends and families have been lost to time or by poor choices of their own. After experiencing tragedy I now understand how to "Carry that weight"
Your lead-in to the title was exceptionally well-done. Altogether your narrative style was great and helped me understand and appreciate Cowboy Bebop all the more.
22:34 "I was not there yet. I had never gotten fired. I had never told anyone I didn't wanna see them anymore. I hadn't really lived that much." Somehow, this really resonated with me. It feels like something deeply human to me. Something vulnerable and sad but somehow hopeful.
I fell in love with your voice, Edinburrah accent! You are articulate, informative, and descriptive with the whole anime. This is the first time I listen to someone talking about his experience as a teenager. Netflix just came up with a movie starring John Cho. LOVE YOU AND YOUR SOOTHING VOICE AND ACCENT!!!
I can say as someone who recently watched this and am now rewatching it in bits and pieces: the nostalgia is not blinding you. It’s THAT good. And the movie I actually like a lot even though it feels distinct from the rest of the series.
I’ve already watched cowboy bebop, but I find myself keep coming back to this video almost as if it was for relaxation. Cowboy bebop analysis + your voice is one of my favorite ways to nod off to sleep when I need to escape (I mean that in the nicest way possible)
“[it’s about] all the little scars that life leaves on you. And how at certain point, we’re all just looking for ways to cope”. That was some amazing writing.
Honestly I just love your voice. Whenever you talk about anime you make it seem so much bigger than it actually is. Everything you review I just want to watch and then come back to each video so I can agree or disagree w. Your points. Solid content, very entertaining.
Cowboy Bebop is so short that i feel like one of the one off characters episode to episode that we only get a glimpse into their lives. i feel like this show intentionally just gives a little sliver into the lives of the Bebop crew. Depressing.... but adds to the overall tone of the series.
I have such a strong and unforgettable history of my time with Cowboy Bebop. I remember EARLY advertising for it on Adult Swim and I always waved it off because of how the name Cowboy, made me think it was a cliche American western but in space. That kind of thing never appeals to me. However one night I had put in a vhs tape (showing my age ) that I had used to record an episode of Home Movies, as it was a school night & I needed sleep. When viewing it, I had enjoyed the Home Movies episode....However, being that I had set it to record all night (since I wouldn't be awake to stop it) the recording had spilled over onto an episode of Cowboy Bebop. For some reason, despite me having zero interest of it, I gave it a chance....I dunno why I did, sheer curiosity? But it was the episode Mushroom Samba....I was hooked immediately. I had no idea who these characters were, where they came from, what the story was....and yet I was completely enthralled by every aspect of it. How funny, weird, charming and alluring that whole episode was. The animation, the music, the cinematography....everything was just purely entertaining. From that moment on I was hooked and immediately got the quickest & first piece of media to watch Cowboy Bebop and that was it's DVD "Best of Sessions". Was a handful of episodes across the show and I got a wide variety of the shows different themes in episodes. Soon after I as watching it on TV all the time and finally getting the whole show on DVD, each DVD being a gorgeous piece of art of the Bebop crew. I still have the dvds even though I have the Bluray of the whole show. There's a strong history with those dvds and how important that show was to me....it's one of the few shows that really spoke to me to be honest. I feel the show should def be watched as it has a lot to teach you, about life, about people...and it does it in such a way that isn't patronizing or done in a dumb way....it's like the show itself is alive, rather than just being an emotionless vessel like so many slice of life Anime shows can be (imo) where it treats the characters and the watchers in a more adult or adolescent manner. There really is something for everyone in here and I dare say very few if any show can reach the heights of emotion & genius that Cowboy Bebop has.
Don't just blow away that filler Asomosis Jones. Despite the connotations filler has to its name all of the episodes in Cowboy Bebop are enjoyable to watch and they are in fact good for getting to know the characters..
High Deaf Radio Very true but i've seen a lot of the shows that he has done videos on and i honestly just enjoy hearing someone talk at length about why the shows i like are so awesome.
High Deaf Radio, if we're talking the Brotherhood anime, I would disagree. They should watch the 2nd episode instead; the first is honestly pretty bad for a newcomer to FMA in general.
No Do FullMetal Alchemist 2003 because no one ever shuts up about Brotherhood being great and 2003 being bad when most of those people haven't even seen the original version but still won't shut up about it.
I'm watching the show now after seeing this vid a while back. My introduction to manga/anime has been mostly thru ur vids so thx. Berzerk has caused many sleepless nightsXD. I always come back after watching/reading and watch ur vid again to see if I agree with ur review.
"It ended" is not a flaw, it's a possitive. It's a self-contained story that you can rewatch and again and again. Also, makes it way easier to sell it to anyone new. None of this: "Watch DBZ, it's only 291 episodes", no this series is only 26 episodes, which is almost unbelievable for an anime (also works as "Anime this short being this good" factor). If Cowboy Bebop kept going it would've gotten diluted or needlessly revived nearly two decades later like Dragon Ball did and become a mess.
@@ducksducks2962 It's clear what happens lol, boy is dead af. Trust me it's better when properties end and even better when the whole product is just tight.
I just partially hate that narration where entire plot dies with our main character, Spike when he died entire show died, we never saw what happened to Ed and Ein, how would Faye and Jet get over everything. As I said we as viewers simply die with spike which is quite sad looking how short the show was which I miss but I guess it was intentional
one thing i really appreciate is that they take the time to introduce us to the character's skills before they actually use it for something. It makes it all more believable
i haven't watched cowboy bebop in like 2 decades... and i think it's time i return to it as a 32 yr old. i can't believe i'm the same age as these guys who were heroes to me back when i was very young. this is an older vid of yours, but i've been binging your stuff for the last few days, after a period of not watching (for having simply watched everything that i wanted to, not for lack of interest) but thank you so much for all the content you create and put out.
I didn't see Cowboy Bebop until I was in my early 20's and it was actually the perfect time for me. Not only as an anime fan but as a young adult having experienced love, loss, broken friendships, etc. If I had been any younger I might not have picked up on the metaphors, the noir and sci fi references, etc. I just finished a rewatch after finding a good deal on the DVD set. Over time, it's becoming one of my favorites.
the idea of no real character progression and lessons learned actually sounds nice... as an adult that's just life, you've already been through your development phase
I don’t agree with this statement. I think There is always room to grow, one way or another and form new opinions about stuff, maybe more controls of yourself, more dedication to yourself, being more emotionally open, learning to see why you even ever thought some other way, and really get to know yourself, and become better
I can't quite put into words just how great this video is. You have such an impressive way with words and the language you use. Everything I feel (and in some cases, didn't even realise I felt) about Cowboy Bebop is perfectly summed up in this video. I like to write about video games, TV and nostalgia in general and I think i'm pretty good at it. However, your analysis and thoughts on Cowboy Bebop are on another level, this is the kind of content every writer should aspire to create. I'll definitely be checking out more of your work :)
That’s probably not an accident. Sunrise and Bandai teamed up to make Cowboy Bebop. While Bebop was in production Sunrise and Bandai also made Outlaw Star and Bebop seems to have seriously rubbed off on it. Outlaw Star had many more typical anime elements, but the western/sci-fi theme was there as well as the general tone and some existential pondering. Joss Whedon has admitted that Outlaw Star was a huge influence on Firefly. He took out a bunch of the typical anime elements, but he kept a few really obvious things, and many of those things are things that Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop have in common.
Cowboy Bebop is the only show that had such a deep impact that it gave me a physical feeling in my chest to think about the sad, brilliant ending. Even just thinking about it gives me the feeling again.
i watched bepop everynow and then on toonami as a kid and just thought it was really cool. the space stuff and music was always striking to me and that opening track will get anybody hyped. but like you said, i returned to it just last week for the first time in over 15 years and holy what an emotional rollercoaster. the ending of the jupiter jazz two parter and that Space Lion outro will surely stick with me for a long time. what an incredible piece of fiction
Honestly, I think making Ein not show signs of intelligence was the best move they could’ve gone with. Think about it, genuinely smart people aren’t constantly showing off their intellect, nor do they care whether or not people think they are. They’re too smart for that.
I'm in my 40s and episode 24 still hits and hurts me the most but in a good way. My family members either were toxic so I had to cut ties with including my own mother. The ones who I were close to have passed away. All my friends just wanted to use me. I had to cut ties with them. I have no family and friends. I feel so lonely and lost but Faye shows me I'm not the only one suffering without a belonging.
@@TheGlo0m hang in there because our life is brutal. In our situation we have to put ourselves first. No one is coming to help us. The world 🌎 owes us because the world sure took everything from us. I leave my apartment saying, "The world 🌎 owes me."
I just finished Cowboy Bebop for the first time and was looking for a different perspective on it cause usually whenever I watch/read something for the first time I miss A LOT and don't understand as much about the symbolism/references/etc, so that is what I am here to do so thank you!
This was a spot on review, I've been watching Bebop now as I am 30. It hits a whole lot different and to me this show is like a warm blanket on a cold day. You mention how this is not a character progression show and that every adventure is a distraction to the main characters and that is so true, true to life today. I realize that reason is also the reason why Ed and Ein decided to leave because they knew that there was no more growth, everyone else has already decided their fate. Thank you so much for this.
I dunno, it's good for someone like me, a complete anime noob. There are soooooo many out there and having someone like Super Eyepatch Wolf to point out the great ones, even the ones that are completely obvious for the experienced anime watcher, is super helpful. :D
Sigh... it's not something I enjoy saying but I really do feel as if I grew up too quickly. I watched this show when I was 16 and I could already relate to most of it's subjects and nuances. Though if one thing came out of me, it got me through this horribly long depression I went through at that age. That's why it saddens me to say that watching it again impacted me the same way it did as a teen. But the good thing is that since then, life has only gotten better. And that's something to look forward to.
It feels "adult" because Bebop isn't a Shounen anime made for young boys. It belongs to Seinen - a genre intended for adult men. It's like the Josei genre for adult women as opposed to Shoujo which is for younger women.
Shounen is becoming my guilty pleasure now. I am growing more into Seinen ideals. But in the end I love variety, and the medium shares some fantastic stories I wish more people would take the time to enjoy
It feels like a Shounen Seinen. Like not an edgy extreme blood/violence seinen, but not a super safe childish shounen, it's like right in the middle of both.
First watched when I was 13/14 so tempted to come back to it now. At the time this felt like no other anime out there, very cinematic and adult. Every frame seemed incredibly polished and well thought out - the characters, environments, world-building, atmosphere, action, music. Whilst most anime carries on well past its sell by date, I wish they had continued slightly longer (maybe to 50 eps) as it felt like there were many more adventures left to tell.
I just watched the show, and this video helped me organize my feelings about it. Found it in a very... weird, melancholy time, and came away with both sadness and acceptance
I like how most of us watched it already, possibly many, many times, but we still clicked just because we want to hear someone praise it like we do
It's definitely great hearing a different perspective from another fan especially cause the meaning of the show evolves along with us as we grow as individuals

@nymersic Akira definitely ain't for everyone. A lot of the plot is in the manga which makes the film a little hard to follow. Although, the action and atmosphere totally makes up for that
@Bobby Hill you will be a great boss imo hahahahaha pilosopo
@Δ he is wrong bc its fucking akira
I don't know why, but I always get chills when I see that "See you space cowboy."
It doesn't even really mean anything much to me but it just... it just belongs there and feels right.
I feel you man. I feel you

It's because you're gonna carry that weight.
I think the reason is that it’s a smash cut. It goes from the final scene to that all black with a bit of white text saying “See You Space Cowboy”
Right?
Oh man, as someone who just finished rewatching Bebop this is absolutely perfect timing. You are KILLING it, man.

well, well, well. if it isn't a channel I've recently begun watching haha
My heart broke when Ed left the crew. And you can see how everything turned much more serious again from there
so did mine. but it had to happen. the other 3 in the group were adults who went through some horrible shit, and were obviously scarred from it. ed was young and full of life. if she stayed, eventually the other 3 would have rubbed off on her and she would have become cynical way too early in life.
YOU SPOILED ME, I WAS BARELY GONNA WATCH IT!!!
Dude, I cried like a baby. Three times.
And when Ein followed...😭
I started crying like a child when Ed & Ein left .....
It is the only time I actually cried for something I saw on any screen for any movie or any show.
This dude is really thoughtful and articulate. Just listening to him talk is interesting, you've def earned my sub
i know right! i like how deep he digs into the plotline , the character design etc it makes me take notes myself. i've been rewatching many fav series of mine like yu yu hakushu and making notes of why i liked it back then and why i like it better now. God! its so unnecessary but i like doing this. Sometimes, when i have run out of my anime list options to watch , i just click any of his videos on anime I have already watched and God! it feels sooo good!!
I prefer the dub.
After watching most of his videos, I'm blown away at how much work he puts into his videos. The depth of his discussions into the themes of whatever series he's talking about is so well done. You can tell he puts an immense amount of time into each of his videos. It really is such great content and he deserves every penny he earns from RUclips and more.

i actually prefer the animation of cowboy bebop - it feels like the characters are actually part of the environment, modern anime often feels very plastic to me
Wow yeah, I never thought abt it like that. You're right-
Thanks for putting it into words.
2022 One Piece art style is wack animation 10/10 the art style... not so much. 90s art style all day everyday

(long stoy)
I know this is many years late, but thank you for this video.

Interesting...
I think I understand the point of Ed in the show
Could you imagine the show without her? Cowboy Bebop would be so stressful to watch without Ed because, while everyone has a lighter side to them, the characters have such a heavy darkness and seriousness of it, they're so jaded and kind of, assholish
Ed is much needed levity in this show.
Well, we don’t really have to imagine the show without her. She doesn’t show up until episode 9, and she leaves in episode 24. There are 10 episodes without her and the series is only 26 episodes long.
Yes I can
God I hated Ed in almost every scene
She’s comic relief, that’s why when she leaves it hits so hard because you’ve never really thought of her in the same light of someone like Faye the show Trojan horses you with that whole episode and just drops a bombshell of emotion
@@Lucasp110 oh boy, don't disrespect my girl Ed here
In the end, Ed (and Ein) provide the one thing to the story that none of the other characters could.
Hope and a future determined by events that are yet unknown.
Every great story has balance and Ed brings that balance to Bebop.
See you Cowgirl,
Someday, Somewhere!
You mention a lack of showing Ein's intelligence??? what about when he cracked into the nueral network that Ed had difficulty doing in a matter of seconds? In Session 23.
Nic I thought that it was Ed, cause she wasn't surprised at all
That was the big payoff for not showing too much of Ein's ability. I literally grinned from ear to ear during that entire scene.
My thoughts exactly.
right right mate. also ein is a dog. its not like they remember he is a genius. they have enough going on.
He also knows how to answer communication devices
The egg eating scene and when Faye confronted Spike at the end both hit me super hard.
The biggest things I got out of Cowboy Bebop were sadness and jazz, so basically just jazz.
Dude, your voice and my sax solo, really go well together! I'm so amazed at how well this came together!

i never could understand why people call shinji "selfish", shinji is running away from the pain created by his trauma as a child and try to fool himself into a lie were everything is perfect.
Nothing hits me harder than that "BYE BYE"
Ever since I started watching anime, Cowboy Bebop had always been in the background as one of those "old" anime that everyone likes. I always wondered why it was so, but never wondered enough to try and watch. Thank to your recommendation, at 23 I finally watched it. And I just loved how it had a sense of relatability unlike any other anime I've ever seen.
Now all I want is to watch anything else that remotely touches the same themes of Cowboy Bebop. Even just the part about being an adult. Because that kind of stuff hits just the right spot.
ah im in same boat as you currently, havent watched it yet. id recommand gungrave and trigun

Nah. Tank is great but Baccano's opening is better.
No we can't.

I'd give that title to Baccano's OP, Guns & Roses, probably.

Also, it's pretty cool how you brought up Digibro's video and mentioned how stylish Bebop's character designs are.

These are honestly some of the most heartwarming comments I’ve ever seen. It’s amazing to see how this series touched so many people and continues to do so. Excellent video John
Well said, space cowboy.

Adam Lemus yep Bebop should stay as it is
I think the only thing that would work is a prequel series following Spike's time as a hitman and Jet's time as a hardboiled cop.
Clone Trooper Commander Doom it could but it won't. Fans have made their peace with the series being done that if they made a prequel or any form of continuation they'll honestly be pissed.
I know I would be because that's what makes Bebop special and a classic.
Ultramarine prequels are never a good idea they take away all the mystery that you were first given.
I would like a what if series maybe spike living but who knows i get what you mean though a part of me wants it back but feel like messing with the ending and trying to continue the series would ruin the meaning of the ending

I just finished cowboy bebop for the first time. I finished it in 5 days
I’m currently in the army and dealing with loneliness. In the 5 days i watched it I discovered my ex is moving to Florida and I’ll most likely never see her again. I also discovered the girl I’ve been in love with since I was 19 (I’m 24 now) came out of the closet, finally forcing me to accept that we’ll never work things out and end up together
This show really came at the most perfect time for me and besides the fact that objectively speaking it’s a great work of art, the time I watched it in makes me love it that much more
Thank you for your service. We’re here for you. Cowboy bebop came into my life at a very important time as swell and I can definitely relate to your story. Hope it all works out my friend.

Yes, same for me. This show has such a real atmosphere and its such a nod to reality that we don't get the conclusion that we want sometimes. Like when Jet found his ex and she couldn't tell him why she left... its the kind of story life writes as well
Thank you for your service. I'm glad Cowboy Bebop reached you.
I'm still carrying that weight.
I really like your channel.
the plot of bebop doesn't matter..its the journey of it....if you watch it nothing can match it
That's how I felt too.
OK. I'll watch it.
In fact that was such an excellent and genuine argument I will probably just go ahead and buy it. Thank you.
I spent the entire show pretty much hating on Faye. I thought she was incredibly annoying and ungrateful, and yet when she left in episode 24 and the ending text said "see you cowgirl, someday, somewhere" I really thought we would never see her again, and I almost broke.

Artydomi I don't like Cowboy Bebop and I grew up with the thing back in the AS days. Id rather watch Gundam

There really is something for everyone in here and I dare say very few if any show can reach the heights of emotion & genius that Cowboy Bebop has.
your intro is exactly how i felt about this anime. i recently re watched it and it was like wow. i mean i liked it before already! but jeez. so good.
An anime with multiple mixes of completely different tones that blend amazing? Sounds like a wet dream.
cowboy bebop is art...it never forgets that...it is mostly filler but man the 10 or so main story episodes tone will blow your mind
Don't just blow away that filler Asomosis Jones. Despite the connotations filler has to its name all of the episodes in Cowboy Bebop are enjoyable to watch and they are in fact good for getting to know the characters..
@Alastair Hadlow agreed. The fuller is the part of the show that allows us to understand the characters better.
You should do one for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood next.
Except you don't have to talk people into liking that. It happens naturally after they watch the first episode.
Iain Cameron
You know there's this thing called the "3 episode rule", right?
I feel like an extra season or 2 wouldn't hurt. Just to clarify what happened in the first season

This anime reminds me of Firefly and how everyone ends up feeling like real friends and family to me and sad when it is over and no more to watch.
Ryan Gerhardt plus they never get their bounty. Lol
The conclusion you made and the ending scene with Spike is amazing. Killing it bro.
Short version : A true Masterpiece in every aspect
i watched bepop everynow and then on toonami as a kid and just thought it was really cool. the space stuff and music was always striking to me and that opening track will get anybody hyped. but like you said, i returned to it just last week for the first time in over 15 years and holy what an emotional rollercoaster. the ending of the jupiter jazz two parter and that Space Lion outro will surely stick with me for a long time. what an incredible piece of fiction
I feel so lonely and lost but Faye shows me I'm not the only one suffering without a belonging.
you just summed up my life. mid to late thirties here.

I just finished Cowboy Bebop for the first time and was looking for a different perspective on it cause usually whenever I watch/read something for the first time I miss A LOT and don't understand as much about the symbolism/references/etc, so that is what I am here to do so thank you!

I feel like if cowboy bebop had all its episodes summed up into a movie it would be Quentin Tarantino’s wet dream
Why You Should Watch: That thing you've already watched 100 times and you know is good.
Would have been a more accurate title.
I dunno, it's good for someone like me, a complete anime noob. There are soooooo many out there and having someone like Super Eyepatch Wolf to point out the great ones, even the ones that are completely obvious for the experienced anime watcher, is super helpful. :D
Josh Librawood It's pretty ironic how just below this comment a comment about someone who has never watched cowboy bebop appeared
Josh Librawood I've never watched it before
Sigh... it's not something I enjoy saying but I really do feel as if I grew up too quickly.

Chill.
good luck with the rest of your life bud

a great video for a great anime.
i love cowboy bebop and you ma dude, did it proud in with this video

It feels "adult" because Bebop isn't a Shounen anime made for young boys. It belongs to Seinen - a genre intended for adult men. It's like the Josei genre for adult women as opposed to Shoujo which is for younger women.
lel i read that ''as a grave intended for adult.. ''
T̶R̶E̶E̶でく Yeah, I call that realistic
Shonen is like Hollywood and seinen is like European cinema
First watched when I was 13/14 so tempted to come back to it now. At the time this felt like no other anime out there, very cinematic and adult. Every frame seemed incredibly polished and well thought out - the characters, environments, world-building, atmosphere, action, music.
Whilst most anime carries on well past its sell by date, I wish they had continued slightly longer (maybe to 50 eps) as it felt like there were many more adventures left to tell.
Why you should watch Space Dandy?
Yes please!
I just watched the show, and this video helped me organize my feelings about it. Found it in a very... weird, melancholy time, and came away with both sadness and acceptance
