Yeah those were great years to be young.
It hurt me that they never made it to the Superbowl..... That's the one of the few things back then that hurt, being so close...... After those years of Bernie KOSAR and the Browns it was never that magic again, not for me anyway.
Baker Mayfield is not as good as Bernie and I don't think he's ever going to see an NFC championship!!!!

@@wendellthomas179 Bernie is GREAT. Elway gets all the praise Bernie NEEDS to be in the HOF like the rest of the 80s QBs.

And i have one of those defib pace tin boxes. Because of my Browns redright 80 1980. The drive the fumble .and this past January 14th i had my 3rd one put in. Thanks to our playoff lose to Houston. Am i good for us to get and win superbowl. These boxes only last about 7 to 9 yrs. We will see. I am the Kardiac kid. Born the yr Jim Brown was drafted. Watch the 64 championship as a kid with my father. And one of the best times of my life. Looseing to the pack that following yr was heartbreaking as a kid. I had no idea what i was heading for. As a Browns fan at such a young age. 🟧🟫⬜️🟫🟧

Letting Marty go was the beginning of the end.
Lets be real, 1989 was Marty's team not Carson's.

Bronco fan here. I remember Modell said "Carson's D would never give up the 38 pts in '87. He was so right-no need for a drive,& Denver ONLY scored 37. Cleveland scored a lot less though.
Also, great documentary-brings back a lot of memories. But it is misleading in places. You'd think by watching this-the drive won the '86 title game. It only took it to OT. I think Cleveland got the ball to start OT, Denver stopped em, drove,& kicked winning FG-disputed whether it was good, before replay. This also insinuated had Byner not fumbled, Cleveland is in the Super Bowl. Slow down partner, it was 38-31, a td only ties it. After the fumble, Broncos took a safety, instead of a risky punt. That made the final score 38-33. Most importantly, had Cleveland tied it, the greatest comeback qb ever,(maybe til Brady), wouldve had plenty of time to pull off "drive 2,"this time at home, with little crowd noise,& this time needing only a FG. Who knows what happens,& certainly Cleveland wouldve had a good shot..but FPI still wouldve favored Denver significantly. Most likely worst case, we go to OT again.

@@jasonsmith5226 Good post! You know your football. I think the Carson 4-3 stymied Elway more than Marty's one-gap 3-4 though, so that is why they went with the attack defense.
Even lesser-known is this: The Browns ran a 46 Bear defense like CHI at times from 1987 to 1988.

Yup and Belichek. Even though I despise the Pats. Art modell thought he was a coach. no one liked that greedy ducher. So he moved to Poop-sum-more Maryland.😮😮

People forgot the cheering AFTER the Browns had lost, thanking them for a great season. And in Russell Schneider's '86 preview I think most picked CLE to go 7-9 or 8-8 like they did in 1985.

Do the Browns win the SB if they get by the Broncos in '86, '87 and '89? I'll always wonder that! Also, is that the OSU band in the beginning from 1:08?

I honestly think they would have put up a better fight than Denver did in '86, '87, but I think they would have lost both games though

Honestly, I think they would’ve beaten the Giants in 86. They matched up pretty well with them. Washington? That’s a “maybe” game. San Francisco? HELL NO! I hate to say it, but we would’ve gotten steamrolled just like Denver did!

    • @jcueto75
      @jcueto75 2 года назад

They put up a better fight against the Giants and lose, but they beat Washington, I just think they would have matched up better against them than Denver. To be honest if the Minnesota didn't beat the 49ers, I don't think Washington gets past them.

    • @edalexander6155

Yes i think they beat the Giants of 86. The niners of 89? Washington of 87 i think we win that one. Remember denver had the early lead in that superbowl. They fell apart.
