I was at that game. I was 15 years old at that time. When the Cowboys were announced at the beginning of the game It was received with the most hateful boos I have ever heard to this very day. It was ugly. The game should never have been played. Thankfully the Browns won the game. Tom Bush

part of the reason why the Cowboys embraced "Americas Team" nickname so hard was bc after Kennedy was shot here they were the first thing that ppl cld think about the city that wasnt about the assassination.. the TV show helped later on but the Cowboys completely changed what the world thought about when they heard "Dallas"..

I think had the Dallas Cowboys played at home that Sunday then perhaps the games would have been cancelled.

Blaming the players was just asinine

Absolutely, rotten decision to play 60 years ago. Country was wounded by JFK Assassination.

@@bobma6342If the Cowboys and Redskins were playing at home they would have been canceled for sure Washington was at Philadelphia that weekend

Many NCAA football games were played, esp. in the South the day AFTER JFK was killed. Many of the players in the Nebraska-Oklahoma game were shocked & crying after they heard the news. But they turned their feelings into a fierce determination to play their best for the late POTUS. Every player/team handled the situation differently, I guess.

Mistake that College Football played that weekend. NHL and NBA played a couple of games. Should have played November 26th, it was not right playing games.

Move College Football and NFL for the following weekend.

I am absolutely blown away! Amazing story here. The country had pride back then, the country rallied together! Now you have people mocking when people die from the “other” political side. Great story!

I have to imagine there was a moment of silence. I think the flags were half-mast. Both of those are appropriate.

We've not ever recovered from the JFK Assassination. We are way worse, from the result.
