    This is hands-down the best video about this subject! Thank you for putting the time and effort into making it!

    I now know how my lunatic neighbor has been coming into my house. Ironically I had double sided barrels to begin with but replaced them with thumb turns out of fire safety concerns. But 3 double ended barrels are now on order, paid for yesterday.
    My temporary fix was to poke solder wire into the 2 locks I don't need outside access from (as in jam the barrel full of solder wire so nothing can be pushed in to reach the back).
    The fact these things are even marketed as locks amazes me.

    Hi I have added a local service link as it closely relates to your video.

    Great video! I have to say I was able to guess how that works when I saw the tool and you mentioned it only works with thumb turn locks. Unfortunately, it seems that there are practically no way to avoid this vulnerability with thumb turn unless those include hidden key inside the thumb turn. In that case the operation would be to slightly press the thumb turn towards to door or the thumb turn will not rotate if a key has been used in between. I think one could create even better shaped bypass tool if there were a need.

      I think there are a few types on the market that avoid this bypass vulnerability, but yeah, it really depends on the manufacturer putting the effort in

      Hi, thank you for answering, well do you think to make a tool for patio door locks with cylinder euroe Or rectangular locks, which in our country are called book locks, what is suitable? In your opinion, what kind of material, or device, is soft, which is also metal? Yesterday I saw a clip, with a juice straw, a book lock Easily opened. What is your Eid? And what is the shape of the tool, and most importantly, what is the tip of the tool? If you say I will be grateful.

    Is there any specific thumbturn cylinder what can not be bypass?

    • @HoddysGuides
      @HoddysGuides  2 года назад

      It really depends on the build of each lock, only way to tell is to try. This is great as an addition to other methods of entry always worth a try but is far from going to open every type of lock.

    How're these different from the ones they sell separately that aren't labeled as _"European"_ tools? Are they just a tad smaller to fit euro locks, or are they a different shape?

      @@HoddysGuides Nothing specific. Just to add them to my locksport station.
      The pictures on their site aren't as good as they could be to show the difference, nor is it explained well IMO, and the pair of Euro ones are a tad cheaper than buying the other 2 together. So I'm trying to be informed as I can before buying anything.
      Do you know if the Euro ones only work on, well, European locks? Or if they perhaps work on a range of others?
      Thanks for your help.

      @@iyeetsecurity922 they can be very hit or miss, they either work or they don't. I had a site that had tons of yale thumb turns and it opened virtually any one but on the other hand when trying other locks its 50/50 if they will bypass them. Its a great tool to have in your kit though.

    Hi there,
    I have SS312 diamond standard 3 star Avocet ABS thumb turns.
    Are my locks really vulnerable to this method?!

    • @HoddysGuides
      @HoddysGuides  3 года назад

      Im sorry I dont know, ive never seen that particular lock or tried this method on it, but i can say most thumb turns i come across are vulnerable, you would probably have to test to see unfortunately.

    • @SaxJockey
      @SaxJockey 3 года назад

      Did you find the answer? The SS312 Diamond and TS007 3 Star are the higher spec. They offer thumb turns; it would be surprising (pointless) if they are susceptible to this procedure.

      @@SaxJockey yeah same as this video - I’ve only seen this method of attack used on cheap entry level locks. The one below shows the 3* lock taken apart and I think it looks like the piece that turns the cam is part of the cylinder rather than a separate piece, which would mean you’d have to pick it rather than bypassing the cylinder and pins ruclips.net/video/V_9ydNppqIQ/видео.html

      To educate on not only a valid locksmithing method but also the risk of using thumbturns on doors used for security. If i didn't show it it would still be vulnerable but people might not know the risk. Dont blame me, blame those creating inferior locks.
