  • All This QB Swapping Destroyed the Broncos. Justin Fields was traded from the Bears to the Steelers after Kenny Pickett was traded to the Eagles. The Vikings draft trades with the Texans give them all the control of the Top 10 picks leaving the Denver Broncos in a position to settle for their quarterback. #justinfields #steelers #nfltrade #russellwilson #kennypickett #vikings #jjmccarthy #drakemaye #nfldraft #broncos #bears #eagles #breakingnflnews #nfl #NFLNews #thatsgoodsports #brandonperna

I was just thinking the same. This organization has been obsessed with Elway.
The Broncos need to build a team first.
O line, 2 good WRs, then draft a QB that can throw a football.
Defense is important, but I feel most teams that do badly have no offensive firepower

It was Joe Ellis. He ruined the Broncos.
If it were up to Elway, the Broncos would have the staff that’s in San Francisco right now.
Joe Ellis blocked that move because of a personal vendetta against Mike Shanahan.

The NFL will never learn. There's a draft pick's raw abilities and then the need to DEVELOP the player. This happens at pretty much every position except the hardest and most important one.
Many HoF QBs had awful starts to their careers, but teams used to understand that it takes time to build the rest of the team around the QB. This "sink or swim" system just destroys the potential in young talent and keeps the nediocre teams spinning their wheels for years.
Green Bay has sat two first round QBs for years and it seems to work.

I think the problem is building a team around a young QB instead of building a team for a young QB. Kind of hard to develop if the O-line sucks & there aren't solid targets to throw to, or lack of a running game. It's far easier to ruin a young QB than to develop him. Roethlisberger had a successful rookie season, & career, because he was the last link the team needed at that time.

It's funny....the entire league looks worse without Tom Brady. I swear...watching QBs starting for teams, week after week, who find it difficult to throw to players in the clear in centre field is so frustrating. Watching Brady hit up receivers for a generation and move the chains all the way down the field on most possessions was a joy. Something I absolutely loved watching and now miss. Brutal efficiency and with that efficiency....winning seasons year after year. Brady being out of the NFL leaves only one QB whom I believe can be relied upon to control their teams offense efficiently and that's Patrick Mahomes. I hoped Trevor Lawrence would step up but he's stalled. Justin Herbert has regressed and his team refuses to recruit a reliable O line. QBs nowadays seem to just be improvising on almost every passing play or experimenting with their running game. It seems most teams now waste every first possession on crappy run attempts for almost no gain. Wasteful and boring. Oh well...the 'modern NFL'. ENTERTAINMENT NOT SPORT.

Payton has no intrest to taking Broncos nowhere. He signed 5 years 18 mill per year contract. Russ screwed him in first year by playing good and not allowing him to get top 5 picks. So in next 2 years Broncos will suck, that's already 3 years at his contract and he has perfect excuse. So in his 4th year, he must produce some result, which he will have no chance if they don't have at least top 10 QB or top 10 team. That means they need to find new C.J Stroud or be new Steelers. Chances for that are real low. So he and Broncos will suck again. And than will start his 5th year, is he gonna be coach or he's gonna be fired, he really won't care, because he will be 65+ years old grandpa who fleeced Walmarts for 72 mill in last 4 years.

And he's gonna make 70+ mill $ by not being successful with his team and he even persuaded people (owners) it's good for them. I don't consider him a loser, I consider him mastermind. Evil egoistic narcissistic selfish mastermind, but still mastermind. And if you think they are into that business because of love for sport, competitiveness and loyalty, you have no clue about real life. That died long time ago. They are there to get paid as much as they can get in as much as possible shorter period.

Ah dude hopefully it works out for Fields at some point. This is a seemingly smart way to go for Pitts?
That being said after 3 years, “flashes” aren’t good enough. I don’t think he can process the game quick enough.
    I’d rather draft JJ.

They said the same thing about the Houston QB. Plus Chicago doesn't have the greatest wr corps. I would not draft any of the qbs coming out number 1. Maybe 6 or further down. Not a fan of the Pittsburgh offense. It would have been better for Fields if he had gone to a team with a real offense/ good oc. If he doesn't succeed it might be because he never had the right fit. A good quarter back coach/oc who could help him get better rather than the suspect coaching he has received in the pros.

I'm just happy for Pickens and Friermuth man, they're probably throwing a party knowing they'll actually be a part of a functional offense

Broncos could have gotten Fields for TWO bags of chips. Sorry but there is no Caleb Williams in 2025 draft if they are tanking. Horrible year to draft a QB. Broncos failed big time

This combination of knowledge, entertainment, passion and a sprinkling of the misery that only a fan could feel is very good. I wish you and your Broncos well and I hope you're feeling much happier after the draft

I know it sucks but given the decisions Denver made in the past, Broncos have to tear down and rebuild. Payton is making the moves Elway was too afraid to make. This next year will be hard to watch but the offseason that will follow is going to take the NFL by storm

Pitt will use Felds as a back. They'll go back to their Kordell 'slash' Stewart days

Broncos drop Russ was such an unforced error. Now they’ll probably over pay for someone like Trey Lance out of desperation.

Moral of the story don’t get an office as a quarterback.
Pickett had an office (said so on Macafee)
    Wilson had an office.
I guess Wilson using Pickett’s office now! Better leave it vacant.
