    I’m a 11 handicap 62 year old golfer. I have been struggling with my game the past year due to an injury and a foot surgery a year or so ago. My Ping G 430 irons were giving me troubles, not the clubs fault, but I was drifting towards 17 plus territory. Hit a set of the 2021 Halo models in a shop and loved em. Bought a set, the 2021 model new, with the R Flex Cypher graphite shaft. First two rounds shot a 76 and a 79. And I still hit my driver well at about 270 average. I am honestly as a 30 year golfer baffled. These clubs are fun and unique and pin seekers… And I play a lot of golf all over with a lot of people and no one has yet to make any snide remarks or funny looks. I’ve had numerous folks ask me about them in wonderment. Even in Scotland… It’s just a stigma… And I get it, but I’m over it… They are at least worth a try at a local shop… And IMO they are not all geared towards just beginners and seniors.

      😊, for me personally aesthetics are extremely important and I, suppose at my level I can generally afford to be but for the most part, a massive proportion of golfers would gain a lot by using equipment like this.... It would definitely make it a little easier and more fun to play 👍🏻

    These clubs along with the Eleven "hybrids" is definitely somthing to consider for many slower swing speed golfers. Particularly could offset the inevitable speed and power loss as we age. Also many women swing slower, and could benefit on designs like these.
    If only the stigma of paying somethig like this could be removed somehow. I tried convincing my better half how she would benefit from Eleven or the previous geeration of these, but when she saw them she immediately just said NO! This video is part of what could help convincing slower clubspeed golfers to try them out. For higher swingspeeds, I guess gapping would become an issue.
    Excellent that you give them this kind of review on their own merits!

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks very much for the kind and very constructive comment. It's a shame that stigma is a massive part of the game, I myself being honest still holds some which I know in practical terms is nothing other than silly.
      I guess it's slightly different for the better player that utilises more of the middle of the club but still they would still help on the off days. For the average and below average golfers of either strike consistency or club head speed, these could help unlock a lost level of distance and consistency of distance to allow them to enjoy golf much more 👍🏻👍🏻

    Awesome review as usual! As a 26 yr old high handicapper, speed isn't so much an issue for me but I'm honestly really tempted to move into something like these. It's obvious hybrid irons are just so consistent and taking looks out of the equation (hard to do) I can't see why I shouldn't just game them...

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  Месяц назад +2

      Hi Mitchell, its something that I'd absolutely suggest a player at a higher less consistent handicap to use to enjoy the game more and then possibly look as they progress and become interested in something more usual looking to only then transition..... Really most golfers could easily start with these types of irons.
      Thanks for the comment and for watching.......

  • @william_hartman
    @william_hartman Месяц назад +1

    Great review, IMO most beginners should start with a set of hybrid irons like these.
    Also, I have a video idea/request. It would be interesting to use your review style to compare the same iron at stock loft, bent 2 degrees strong, and 2 degrees weak. Exactly how much distance do you gain/lose, how much does ball speed change, spin rate, launch angle, etc. I've heard that every degree of loft is 2-3 yards, but how accurate is that?
    IMO using a players distance iron like the Mizuno 245 for this would be best, because they are in the middle of the lofts with 30* 7 irons, more then 28* Hot Metal, but less than the blade 243 at 32*. So someone could strengthen it to match the Hot Metal or weaken it to match the 243.

    I wasn't able to demo them but I ordered them anyway. I live near the two largest golf stores here, Golf Galaxy and the PGA Superstore. Golf Galaxy doesn't carry Cleveland and the PGA Superstore didn't have the Halos.

      @AskGolfNut  10 дней назад

      Wowsers and there's the main problem for the likes of Cleveland, they need to try and work directly with the retailers to try and get some form of test clubs into these stores. It's also the stores that are reluctant as they want to sell something with a larger profit margin attached.
      Personally I've always come from the golfers point of view rather than the businesses 👍🏻

    I had a previous version of these. I actually miss them. i’m not a slow swingspeed golfer or having problems getting the ball in the air. I could easily game the long irons in this set. Why not? They perform better than any other iron for most golfers. In the short irons I want more feel and control though.

    I'm surprised reviewers don't enlist a high handicap / senior player (who these are designed for) to do the swing testing. Your golf swing could hit mashies with hickory shafts well! Good info though but would love to see a senior 18 HC hit them....

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  13 дней назад +1

      The main reason for myself at least when it comes to analytical testing of actually how forgiving and helpful a particular piece of equipment is, is that to test how well a face works, you have to keep delivery dynamics as close to normal as possible and just miss hit the ball in a particular measured miss hit whilst not corrupting any other part of delivery.
      This is the only way other than using a swing robot (costs an awful lot) that you can accurately test how well the club works from miss hits compared to another. This even at my level takes a lot of time to test heel, low and toe hits. For a handicap golfer to do it would take forever and possibly never and involve a lot of his or her opinions or feels rather than actual objective data and info 👍🏻👍🏻

    • @AskGolfNut

      On balance, sitting on the fence and giving my honest opinion, I'd have to say that due to the Elevens having roll and bulge on the face then this will add an additional element to forgiveness that the flat faced irons of these don't have. It's marginal but looking at it from a pure physics point of view, I would have to say the Elevens just 👍🏻

    How would these do if you had to work the ball. If you had to bend it around a dog leg

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  Месяц назад +1

      Hi James. Workability or being able to apply tilt axis to a ball for curvature purposes isn't an issue whatsoever. I've done a video in the past where with the use of GCQuad (as it measures club head delivery and strike location to the ridiculously small amount) I captured identical (as much as possible being human) deliveries with both a blade and a game improvement club or at least 2 very different designs of iron and then measured the applied tilt axis to the ball.... It was near on identical so the myth is busted on that front.
      The larger heads are a touch more stable through impact where the smaller (known as more workable) heads can rotate more due the CG of the head being closer to the CG of the shaft. However if you are talking about curvature applied by the same amount of face to path delivery then they are both exactly the same.
      Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍🏻
