I really like that you test clubs at different swing speeds. Many RUclips pros who are testing clubs are doing so at their normal swing speed, which doesn't help a mere 16 HCP mortal like me with an 80 MPH 7 iron swing. Please keep doing this, because it gives the average golfer a place to start if they were interested in new clubs.
If you like this data then you'll enjoy the revamped forgiveness data. Previously have covered captures of miss hits and then discussed what the ball speed drop offs are, now, to make it more user friendly and visual there will be a heat map and percentage drop off so you can see visually how forgiving a club is or no.... First new format review dropping tomk afternoon in the very expensive Callaway Apex Ti Fusion irons. Let me know what you think 👍🏻
I think you are hands down the best club reviewer out there, others hit 5 shots and give there opinions but yours are fact based and so in-depth. Thank you so much for the quality of work that you provide!
Thanks very much for the kind feedback, it's is really appreciated that people see the effort and work that goes into making my reviews. My mission is to stand out above the rest to ensure that the viewers get the best possible objectively measured information out there 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much for your kind words, it does take an awful lot of time doing many different datasets which aren't easy to create as its not as easy as some people think to swing at a slower exact speed and keep delivery of face to path, angle of attack and more importantly dynamic loft as identical as possible. Then doing the forgiveness testing where I'm purposely attempting to accurately miss hit whilst keeping normal delivery the same isn't easy, so it's very much appreciated that you understand the level of effort and the resulting editing that goes into every video I do. Shame the video revenue isn't tied to the amount of effort that goes into making them rather than the views it gains 🤔😊😊
I just ordered a 7 iron with appropriate shaft for my senior swing. The golf stores in my area do not carry these. They carry Srixon but only carry the Cleveland wedges.
I bought these the other day, and no joke they are worth every dollar. I miss a few greens, but they were all easy chips. I hit a 5 iron like no ones business.
I find Cleveland is much like Wilson Staff..... played by some amazing Tour players at one time (David Toms, Vijay etc) but now abit under the radar. Even their wedges - which are world class - get over shadowed I find. Really great value / performance that more people should take advantage of.
Couldn't be more correct, although I guess if everyone started buying them like they should do because they are that good, that they wouldn't be so favourably priced for long 😊
So glad someone is doing really thorough reviews of the full range of Cleveland products. They are qality products that give excellent results and are great value for money. I replaced my 10 yo Mizuno driver with the Cleveland Launcher XL a year ago and absolutely love it. Admittedly, I love my Mizuno irons and they are not yet due to be replaced, but Cleveland would definitely be on my shopping list if they were. Thanks for the comprehensive tests and honest opinions.
Glad you enjoyed the video, my content is more in depth and comprehensive than any other reviews on RUclips as far as I know. My personal view is that if golfers are wanting to purchase anything, it is essential that equipment is tested at different speeds and also it's forgiveness 👍🏻
I bought these clubs a couple months ago and love them. It was so hard finding videos about these irons when I was looking to buy so I appreciate your review on these clubs. Great review, very masterclass you have earned a new sub buddy! Keep up the great work.
I played Cleveland HBE since I replaced my Cleveland Hybrids. Now, I am replacing those with srixons mixed bag. I realize now all that extra help ended up hurting. Live my srixcons. Need to start getting my 7-Pw in the zx7's. Zx5's are amazing and my 4i is a zx4 and glad I went that route. That extra pop is great
Really appreciate your thorough evaluations. Can’t find much between these and the ZX4, particularly given the 25% premium for the Srixons. How about in relation to the Ping G430? Coming back to golf in my 60s after a decade away. Thank you
In true terms there won't be much difference between all of them. The main differences will always be the possible shaft choices and which ones you fit into and also how you get on with the individual irons... There's always the human factor which can never be predicted 👍🏻 Welcome back to Golf ⛳ 👍🏻
Think Cleveland clubs besides their wedges are underrated. Game the hywood and it's been great for me. If someone new to golf comes to me for club recommendation this would be top of my list. Would be good too for older golfers or women golfs - that's a big chunk of market.
Its a massive market that could/should be using equipment such as this. Until golfers have a good grasp of the ability to strike the middle of the face, using irons like these can make Golf much more fun and lower scores also 👍
Hi Jay great review which iron do you think is better all around CLEVELAND XL ZIPCORE irons or PXG BLACK OPS irons ( most forgiving , distance , feel ? ) thx sir cheers from Canada
I like how Cleveland is putting the loft on the sole. Arguably it's more useful than the iron number, but would require a culture change (never gonna happen) and all manufacturers doing the same for full usefulness of that feature. Looks are not too bad actually.
Its an incredibly good feature, having the loft stamped on it is helpful especially when it comes to continuing to check to see if they have moved during use..... I would very much like is manufactures just put lofts rather than numbers...... but I think you are right, its never going to happen 🙂
Great review very thorough Jay. Great iron good looking , great price, V sole , Zipcore technology so good when wet, and sensible lofts compared to many and the loft number on the club. Probably the best value in golf will look forward to your wood tests. I’m testing these irons next week.
The Halo possibly would have the edge on forgiveness but it's close. The Halos would have an advantage in launch though with a lower centre of gravity 👍🏻
14hc here and just swapped my set of ping i210s for some brand new clevelands, wont lie i miss the pings but it doesnt seem to matter how terrible i hit these clubs they shoot dead straight everytime, actually enjoying playing golf again
Enjoying golf is essential as its a game and hobby. If you don't enjoy playing a game then we either need to change what we are doing or pick another game to play. Glad you are enjoying golf again 😊 👍🏻
Nice to see that you're still smashing out of the park Jay. I still haven't purchased any clubs yet, but loved listening to this one 😂. Just out of interest, does the screen take any damage from being pummelled by 90mph golf balls?
No more than 160mph+ Driver shots :-) actually the screen is nearing its changing time.... I have a screen hanging up already behind it and the original screen has done incredibly well. Honestly there is not much wrong with the current one but as time is going on its just loosing some of its tautness. If it can last 2 years with the amount of balls being hit into it that I have done, then its done very well 👍
@iainrutherford184 that's Ball Speed rather than Club Head speed 😊 I'm getting old now, I top out at about 118mph nowadays.... Gone have the 120mph plus swings 😊
Must say for a very large design I'm actually a fan of these visually. They manage to be busy to show tech yet they've done it in a way that it's not over powering. Plus actually for larger irons, these feel half decent also 👍🏻
Honestly not much, I'd give them both a test to see how you get on with both of them. Different golfers deliver differently so one golfer will prefer one to the other 👍🏻
I did a live stream where I spoke about it in detail and although the general consensus was positive from the explanation, by the analytics it only seems that people that are very particularly interested in the topic care to watch, so I'm hesitant to make another video this time pre-recorded with editing etc to describe something that I feel won't get much view traction?? 🤷👍🏻👍🏻
The day i picked up a 56d cleveland rtx3 my short game changed forever personally I will never use another wedge again when I can upgrade my irons I will be trying the cleveland irons for sure will also try some srixion irons but hopefully cleveland irons do aswell as the wedges
That's the beauty of Cleveland and Srixon being basically the same company, you get all the tech of the premium sister company but at a more budget driven price point 👍
Yep I think they got confused which door to walk in when they were designing each iron and they took the good bits of both and added them in each iron 😀
@@AskGolfNut I swing xz5/zx7 combo set the zx4 were so big they scared me I prefer a small head with a thin top line, I grew up swing blades as I am 60 yes old with a 21 handicap it's come up in the last few years do to losing mobility and distance. Don't take me wrong great irons for the right person just like zx4 ares great 👍 and since it's one company why not take from Peter to make Paul better and a cheaper option for someone great video
I think it must just come down to the cost of the moulds to create the heads... Its not great I know..... I'm lucky that I switched to right handed as a junior 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Most of your off centre hits are in the 90 mile an hour range. I don’t believe that those that are seeking I gave improvement iron would be hitting in the 90 mile an hour range..
This video was produced just before we started introducing new ways to how the effect of miss hits on irons. But in short speed doesn't really effect the drop off in smash factor , at 70pmh or 100mph if you miss at one that makes the smash factor go from 1.35 to 1.32 its the same for all speeds. So the % distance loss will be the same in both cases. Feel free to join our discord server (discord.com/invite/ZJJ8E8u3c3) where Jay and I with other members discuss such things in detail.
They are a touch too distance orientated for me, my blades yardages are a little less per iron number and the distance gaps also a touch smaller so I have a little better control of distance.... That and also the aesthetic reasons 👍
Because I hit the middle of the club most of the time and personally I prefer the feel or sound of them at impact and also the aesthetics of a blade. I prefer the consistency and feedback that a blade gives also the loft gaps between irons with their general weaker lofts to better control distance.... To name a few reasons 😊 Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍🏻
Another great video 😁👍 I've not long ago bought some used Cleveland 588RTX wedges so I'll enjoy seeing how bad mine are against the new stuff. I've asked everyone else who reviews 'cheap' clubs but noone has answered (if I've asked you before I apologise) But pros just do not consider Benross as a potential recommendation any more. Why not? The new range looks better than they have for years and they are stupidly cheap. Having said that, these Cleveland's do look nice, but when I saw them in the flesh my initial thought was that they were just too big ....I might be wrong though 🫤🤔
If they don't immediately agree tell them you're gradually turning me over to the dark side of Cleveland... Thanks for looking at alternatives that the 'bigger boys' think are beneath them 😁👍
LIKE and COMMENT Below guys, I will try and answer as many comments as I possibly can 👍
I have a question... is there a benefit to gaming these vs. the Cleveland halo xl irons (the hybrid type club)?

Comparing these to the Halo XL, which are more forgiving?

Mizuno RB Tour 👍
@ Ty, btw, do you know if that (Mizuno)is the old, now discontinued “Nike” ball technology?
No the Nike ball had the RZN tech which as far as I'm aware died with them 👍
I have the old model and they do look big. For me now as s more social golfer they are fine. Do like the look of the new model. 😊😊😊

Is there much chance of getting these fitted with graphite shafts? Looking for probably my last set of irons and the arthritis is taking over 🙈
Hi Mark, they are also available with the UST HELIUM NANOCORE 60 shafts that have a range from 65g Stiff to 59g Senior Flex 👍
I’m stuck between buying these and the ZX4. Is there a big difference between the 2?
Honestly not much, I'd give them both a test to see how you get on with both of them.

if the elite golfer was using a 300 driver and shocked the 460 option is even allowed. then I would consider these irons large.

that iron face is bonkers, has the same average COR as the AI Smoke, but that losses 0.08 per 1/2 inch and this is 0.03.
