- With the invention and the adoption of the jet engine, there was a major breakthrough in aviation engineering in the middle of the 20th century. Scientists all around the world tinkered with all sorts of daring ideas, including the idea to make a fixed-wing aircraft capable of vertical takeoff and landing, which had been a dream of many engineers for quite a long time. This research was also backed by the military as they were very interested in aircraft that could operate from a short runway and with minimal ground facilities.

Hello warthunder this is as suggestion about the Ac-130 bcs ive been seing many videos with it as a moded version so i was intrested to ask you guys to mabey make it heres my ideas for it 150 flares or mabey 200 and make itso evry time you flare there comes 4 out at once then make it so it can nuke in the tank realistic only mabey simulator and then make it so u can tansport things with it over the map as a job and you get around 50k of silver lions and mabey just 2 defense missilse and i would propaly sell it for 20 to 30 dollars and it would rank up to 9,0 pls think abt it

@@PomFritten21 yeah them improving the damage model for the su25 would be the least they could do since it is a 9.7 strike aircraft with 30G misiles (some of the best in the BR) an absurd amount of flares for its BR and an crazy amount of speed for its BR… I really don’t think it should be in 9.7

About the Yak-38M... Isn't the modernized/later version supposed to have the R-60M as well? Its a jet from the late 80's after all.
I mean the plane can barely fly, so it would need something to make up for it. Also; what radar?

Unless they buff the survivability it won't really matter.

From what I could find, only an improved variant of the Yak-38M (Yak-38MP) had this radar. Sketchy source though.

The Yak-38/141 Series of VTOL Soviet Aircraft is my Favourite part of Soviet History and Aviation
The effort it took to design,test,fail,succeed and further is very interesting.
A reason what I consider the Yak-141 to be the last Soviet Jet that will hold a special place in my Heart.
Where Effort and Quality was put at extreme high for Soviet Navy Aviation.
It is sad History ended up in that way that we will never see a Further improved Yak VTOL Aircraft
Well the F-35 VTOL does thank Yakovlev for making it possible.
But still the Yak-141 will always live in War Thunder Forever embed in History of Soviet Aviation.
Man literally says the Yak-38M had a radar. They just didn't put it in game.

I-15 Series
It depends on how you define manoeuvrability. The Ki-27 has the best turn time in the game (~8.5 seconds, and despite the I-15 having an 8 second turn time stat card, it doesn't actually do 8 seconds afaik and actually does closer to 9.5 seconds) with a very good climb angle only beaten by the Ki-10 IIC, but if you want more climb angle there are helicopters, and some helicopters can pivot on the spot insanely quickly (up to around 540 degrees/second, which is kinda unrealistic, most helicopters would probably fall apart at that point). If you want G loading, the F-16 can fully sustain 13.5+ Gs at about 24 degrees/second (about 15 second turn time) in a turnfight with its engine performance (limited by the control stiffness and pilot GLOC). If you want roll rate, the A-4 is pretty up there with something like 2 rotations per second. If you want Angle of Attack potential, the Mirage IIIC is capable of doing backflips in forward flight, and the viggen can also do it to some extent but is unstable and prefers to cartwheel instead.

Q: When and if are you going give the Yak 38m radar(CCIP does not count as they say that the yak 38 didn't have radar), and what about R60M's? I'm not sure if it had them, but it served until 2004, so I think it had them.

you can use a single rocket pod on one wing as a replacement for countermeasures. it works pretty well and is worth sacrificing one missile

With the Yak-141, Yakovlev got a secret agreement with Lockheed in 1991 to continue funding the project after the collapse of the Soviet Union and years later Lockheed used a similar design for the X-35B which resulted in the F-35B

Alright cool, but can it get buffed? Because with all the AIM-9L slingers it lost its only advantage, the missiles. They are severely outclassed by the AIM-9L and the Yak is still a VTOL brick.

I can see why the British would want a VTOL Jet, but the USSR was massive... it seems like long range Interceptors, and Strike Bombers would have been a better use of money.

No it carries two small engines as dead weight when in normal flight. It's a pretty awful design.
There are two small engines situated behind the cockpit, the two nozzles at the rear is the exhaust for the same engine that provides horizontal and vertical propulsion.

Q: All of my friends are telling me and i kind of agree since i havent played much but why are a10 missiles AIM9L better in practise but in theory its like every other AIM9L?
Depends on the situation. In a low speed launch, like from an A10 moving at 300 KPH, the missile has VERY tight turn circle due to its starting speed being very slow. This makes it impossible to dodge at close range.
during a high speed launch like from the F16, going supersonic, the Aim9L has a larger turn circle due to it hitting the G limit when trying to turn hard high speeds. You trade some turning for a massively extended range, and depending on the situation, the range may be whats needed.

I think Gaijin should create a separate arena for all Experimental/ Non-production vehicles that they really have no evidence of their performance. Let’s add the YF-23… no real proof on flight abilities… but it will earn them some big bucks
Why don't u create 50vs50 mode, kinda big battle royale for players where there are tanks, aircrafts and ships altogether on a big map. Where every players plays whatever his captain of the team tell him to play (tanks, aircrafts or ships), where we the enemy team bomb our aircraft takeoff bases and then we take off from ships.. The US marine chose helicopter pilots to fly their first Harrier 1's. This proved a disaster.

I'm baffled by war thunder. Instead of creating systems that perform historically, they buff and nerf at a whim. Why not let the history show itself? Systems perform as close to reality as possible. Ignore "balance".
They sort the strength of tank/aircraft/ship by rank so it remains as close as accurate to real vehicles

The in game 141 is more of a paper vehicle than the Ho229 lmao.
The Ho229 had a functional prototype built and at least one of those had guns mounted.
The Yak-141 in game has features that, while planned, never went past the drawing board.

And I should add, one of the Ho-229 prototypes is currently in a museum.
@@saxwastaken there’s literally footage on RUclips of one of the Yak-41/141 prototypes flying. Post-USSR, they were used in air shows and joint research between Lockheed and Yakovlev.

Btw the Yak38 was one of the worst VTOL aircraft ever made, of the 9 brought on deployment to Afghanistan only one was flyable by the end of the tour. None of them lost to enemy fire, ALSO they could only fly at night ( *sometimes*)

Why is this 9.3 with 4 R60s?
It doesn't matter much since it's still a cruddy jet at the end of the day. Even I knew it would have the capability of carrying 4 R-60s before custom loadouts were implemented for that aircraft.
