Built in the 17th century, the Mukden Palace is one of China's historical jewels, with gorgeous carvings, elegant architecture, and golden decorations.
This impressive palace complex resembles a small-scale Forbidden City. Constructed between 1625 and 1636 by Manchu emperor Nurhachi and his son, Huang Taiji, the palace served as the residence of the Qing dynasty rulers until 1644. The central courtyard buildings include ornate ceremonial halls and imperial living quarters, including a royal baby cradle. In all, there are 114 buildings, not all of which are open to the public.
About Mukden Palace
Mukden Palace, also known as The Shenyang Palace Museum or Shenyang Imperial Palace, was the former imperial palace of Qing Dynasty before Beijing Forbidden City stood under the spotlight.
It witnessed the emerging of China’s final imperial dynasty and played a vital role in Modern and Contemporary Chinese History. In 2004, it was added to the World Cultural Heritage List.

It is one twelfth of the size of Beijing Forbidden City;
It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list on the 28th Session of the World Heritage Committee held in Suzhou;
The entire palace cluster was built under the leadership of three emperors instead of one;
It witnessed the establishment of China's final imperial dynasty - Qing Dynasty (It was the first imperial palace of Qing. After that came Beijing Forbidden City.);
It had no toilet or restroom until 1746;
It has three central axis instead of only one like Beijing Forbidden City;

I want to mention that the living expenses in Shenyang is around 1/3 or even 1/4 of the same quality as in Shanghai, and don't forget that Shenyang is Tier2 city in China. Definitely a good city to live if cost is your major consideration. Welcome to my hometown.

the perchasing power parity per capita is very high. the people are generally wealthy compared to the prices, making the city rank first in luxury goods consumption in the nation. this is largely attributed to the early leading industrial development and command economy. the physically environment especially the cool weather and the mature infrastructures makes it very comfortable to live in. ive lived in many cities both inside and out of china, and yet shenyang remains what i personally consider as the best city to live in. the city also is one of the top five cities with the highest literacy rate. and most shockingly, shenyang has barely had any further development since the 90s. these traits shape the people of shenyang into a kind of humourous, passionate and extroverted personality.

Was living in Shenyang for a month in summer 2023 and it was such a great experience. Never in my life ive seen so beautiful architecture no matter modern or old, ive felt so safe there even at late night walk the city was comfortable, the metro and buses were pleasure to use and were never late. The city gave me only positive memories and I wish one day I will visit it again.

Ah Shenyang, aka Mukden, once upon a time the capital city of the Jurchens, later also known as Manchus. There's a lot of Koreans who work & reside in this city. I known a fellow colleague & friend who is Korean and whose parents worked & stayed in Shenyang for many years.
