- Hey, guys, Shanxi Province is a very special and well-known province in northern China. This is my first time in Shanxi, I hope you enjoy this special place and this dominant city Taiyuan.

"Taiyuan" is Literal meaning "Great Plain" in Chinese.
Taiyuan, also known as Bingzhou, is the provincial capital of Shanxi province. In the meanwhile, it is the hub of politics, economy, culture of the province, bordering Fen River and surrounded by mountains.
As one of the largest and most dominant cities in North China and one of the twenty-two super cities, it is on the junction of the three economical zones of China, playing the vital role of connecting the east and west, south and north in the course of opening up and economic development.
Covering an area of 6988 sq. km, the city is divided into six districts, three counties, and one county-level city, where there are more than four million people in total. Since ancient times, Taiyuan has enjoyed the good reputation as "Splendid Taiyuan City".
Not only is it a place of vital importance in terms of military and culture, but also it is a world-famous metropolis of Shanxi merchants, as well as one of the most important bases of heavy industry and energy.

One of China’s Main Industrial Cities with Many Historical Sites

Bounded on three sides by mountains, Taiyuan is the capital of Shanxi Province and one of the most important energy and industrial bases in China.
Comparing Taiyuan with any ancient capital in China, it is not inferior. With a history of more than 2,500 years, Taiyuan once was an important political, military, economic, and cultural center in ancient North China.
It boasts abundant tourism resources varying from famous mountains to grottoes, temples, lakes, caves, ancient buildings and relics. Among them, the statues of the maid of the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279) in the Jinci Temple show different postures vividly; the grottoes and statues of the Sui and Tang Dynasties (581 - 907) in the Tianlong Mountain and the two pagodas standing at Yongyou Temple have always attracted visitors' attention.
In the evening, you can go to Liu Alley which has the largest night market in northern China, to taste local delicacies and buy special products.
It is also very convenient to transfer to other hot Shanxi tourism spots from Taiyuan such as Mount Wutai, Yungang Grottoes, Mt. Taihang, Ancient City of Pingyao and Hukou Waterfalls.
The city has a wealth of attractions and notably among these is the Jinci Temple. This is the city's most attractive temple although the Shuangta Si (Twin-Pagoda Temple) has become a symbol of the city on account of its unique architecture. Another major attraction is the Tianlong Shan Stone Caves where magnificent sculptures dating from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) may be seen.
Up to now, Taiyuan has become a modern industrial city with a focus on metallurgical industry, machinery, chemical industry and coal industry, supported by light textile, electronics, food industry, pharmaceutical industry, power sector and building materials industry. As the project of making airship conducted by Beijing has been undertaken, it will become the biggest airship-making city around China in the near future.
In effect, Taiyuan has also been given UN Habitat Scroll of Honor Award by virtue of Fen River Park and West Water System of Taiyuan City.
At present, water supply, gas supply, heat supply, power supply, sewage treatment and garbage disposal are increasingly well dealt with by the government. In 2010 it was awarded National Garden City.
Aimed at the formation of industrial cluster of fist-class equipment manufacturing industry, high and new technology, new materials industry and metropolis with global reach, Taiyuan embraces travelers with its brand-new image.

China already reopened to international tourism. Yet not many Chinese are going overseas for holiday. It is the many beautiful and beatified places like these that keep the Chinese touring their country and not the outside.

I never thought that Taiyuan has so much to offer a tourist. It looks like a really great place to live as well. My favourite part is the Ancient Country Town. I wish that all Chinese cities were built like that.

The entire Shanxi province of which Taiyuan is situated in, has some of the oldest buildings in China. Many are around 1000 years old, some dates back to Tang dynasty

I did notice that many of the food, shopping, and amusement options are clustered together when they could be more spread out. I was also thinking that adding some living history/historical reenactment options near historic structures could be fun and educational for families. 有句说法，地下文物看陕西，地上文物看山西。山西省内的古建筑众多，有“中国古代建筑艺术博物馆”的称号，有数据显示，国内元朝以前的古建筑，72%以上都在山西。可惜因为山西这些大大小小的古建筑数量多、分布又比较分散，在文物保护和旅游宣传上有点力不从心，真希望能重视起来。

Taiyuan is a beautiful city with both modern & traditional architecture❤.Zhonglou pedestrian street is bustling with people,food stalls,shops & fun activities for children.Also I really liked the traditional architecture of the shops.I really like the song being played at Jifen pedestrian bridge.I wonder what is the name of that song?.Wow so many fun activities for children at Jifen pedestrian bridge.Mixc mall is very beautiful from the inside.Jinci temple is very fascinating,would love to pay a visit to it.Roaming around the temple feels like you have arrived back in time.I just love the ancient County Town and its architecture❤.
There is a professional beggar on Zhonglou street. Reminds me of the first Covid case in Haining, Zhejiang. It was brought by a professional beggar who had just arrived from Shanghai by high-speed train and traveling around Haining by taxi 😂

如果这些古建筑是真古董的话那真是太棒了，晚上的灯光恰到好处，没有五颜六色的艳俗，新城区的发展也不错
虽然大多是仿古的，不过身临其中，还是有那种穿越的感觉的。。
晋祠是真的，也是最具历史价值的。很多年前去过，当时圣母殿还让进去，能近距离观看圣母和侍女像。还有那个舍利塔也让上的，后来再去就不让进了，遗憾。晋祠太值得去了，还有山西省艺术博物馆，山西考古博物馆都很不错。我老家承德，历史旅游资源也很丰富，但大多不过300年。第一次去晋祠就把我震了，妈蛋，空气中都是历史的味道。

这次我最最最最最感觉好的地方就是晋祠！可惜我只能拍其外形，不能拍出那种真正空气中的历史底蕴！
@@user-of7uo5og4o地下文物看陕西,地上文物看山西.去山西旅游最好的选择是雇佣一位特别熟悉人文历史的导游.（不过恐怕很难）中国成语故事,历史典故.有很多发生在山西.配合典故游览,你才能更好的感受到时空伴随的感觉.
这是中华文明的核心区之一.值得回味的很多,不懂人文,就只能表面看看
@@WalkEast 是，北京的明清建筑，红砖绿瓦，宏大庄重，单看建筑其实是有些同质和单调的。山西的古建大多木质，加上塑像很多，细节生动。因为是木质的，参观的时候鼻子也能感受历史😂。
可以北上大同，绕行城墙一圈，1个小时左右吧！
绝对要去，我下次再来，大同，我期待已久，梦中的绝妙古城！
